Jack felt a chill run down his spine. While he wasn't exactly politically correct, attractive female friends were definitely not on his list of objections. The couple who ssed around in the back of his police car when he first joined the station didn't count — they were just too disgusting and repulsive.
In fact, for most seasoned perverts, seeing two pleasingly pretty girls rubbing against each other evoked only a sigh of regret and a pure appreciation.
The problem was that this seemingly attractive female friend was after his girlfriend, which was rather unpleasant. Although he was confident in Hannah's sexual orientation — Zoe had said they'd been fighting for years, and if sothing were going to happen, it wouldn't have dragged on until now — what if she used so indirect, diversionary, or underhanded tactics to target him first? That would be bad news. In his previous life, Jack wasn't good at rejecting attractive won, let alone this stunning beauty who was only slightly less attractive than Hannah.
As expected, after the awards ceremony, Jack had barely taken two steps off the stage when a beaming Tyler Kelly, pulling the imposing middle-aged man along, stood before him.
"Officer Jack Tavelor, I didn't expect to see you again so soon. This is my father, Vincent Kelly."
Seeing the middle-aged man extend his hand, Jack quickly returned the gesture, shaking his hand respectfully.
"Hello, Your Honor."
As a judge of the LA Superior Court, Vincent Kelly was quite approachable, but he didn't really have much to say to a lowly patrolman like Jack. After a few brief pleasantries, he excused himself and naturally blended into the circle of the Commander and the Governor.
Tyler Kelly, however, remained standing before Jack, a hint of reproach in her previously sweet smile.
"Why haven't I received your calls?"
Are upper-class girls in Arica this direct? Jack instinctively flashed a professional smile.
"I'm sorry, beautiful Miss Kelly, I already have a girlfriend."
His gaze unconsciously fell on her chin, where two more pimples, barely concealed by foundation, had appeared since their last eting. He then noticed the slightly bloodshot eyes in her pretty blue eyes and thought to himself, 'Being a news anchor must be tough.'
"Am I really less appealing than Hannah, that country bumpkin from Texas?"
Tyler Kelly's tone carried an air of haughty arrogance, yet she couldn't hide the mischievous glint in her eyes.
Ugh, this is so kind of cheesy teen drama dialogue. Anyone who didn't know better would think this young lady was at a high school prom.
Jack almost unconsciously launched into a dramatic response: "Please don't insult my goddess."
"Pfft." Two suppressed laughs ca from behind him; he knew without a doubt that Zoe and Maureen were eavesdropping.
The banquet hall was quite crowded. Tyler Kelly didn't have Jack's hearing, nor did she notice the two mature won behind him pretending to whisper.
But she knew her acting had been seen through by the man before her, and she smiled faintly.
"It seems Hannah told you quite a bit. I also know she was the one who pursued you, but I'm still curious, in your opinion, what makes inferior to her?"
Jack didn't speak, but instead looked her up and down again. To be fair, the low-cut blue starry evening gown did suit her perfectly, a sweet lady with a touch of cunning.
Noticing Jack's gaze lingering on her chest, Tyler Kelly's expression changed, and she gritted her teeth, whispering, "Are you still a baby who's breastfeeding?"
To be fair, although that seemingly deep cleavage looked sowhat forced, and was much better than Lucy's, it was definitely inferior to Maureen's, not to ntion the broad-minded Zoe and Hannah.
Finally, this suspected rival left indignantly. Jack sighed, thinking what a ss this was. He didn't know if this news anchor who suddenly appeared had a problem with her orientation or just liked to antagonize Hannah.
But to be fair, an ordinary man would probably fall for a beautiful woman with a good family background and a career advantage in a minute. Only a good man like him could resist. He would definitely have to get so compensation from Hannah later. If that didn't work, he could ask her sister to pay so interest first.
.....
"Have you heard of BAU?"
The steam in the bathroom carried a hint of oak fragrance. Maureen fell in love with Jack's homade bathtub at first sight and didn't want to get out until she had soaked for an hour.
Jack, now a human cushion, shook his head.
"It's the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit. They're rebuilding an action team specifically for nationwide serial cris and need a quick-witted, skilled newcor. I recomnded you."
"You're not kidding?"
Jack was surprised. He knew Maureen was a specially hired psychological expert by the LAPD, but he hadn't expected her to be so influential within the FBI. For an LAPD mber like himself, less than six months old, to be noticed by the FBI seed a bit exaggerated.
Maureen stretched comfortably, her figure moving in the water, making soone stare in disbelief.
"To be precise, they contacted . I was originally there to assist the BAU with profiling a serial killer suspect. They had so questions about your file and asked to verify sothing."
Jack looked up at the ceiling; he couldn't be distracted while discussing business.
"What questions could the FBI have about a rookie patrolman like ?"
Maureen rolled her eyes. "You've been with the Wilshire Precinct for less than six months. How many days of administrative leave have you taken?"
"Uh…" Jack was taken aback by the question, thinking to himself that if he hadn't been hanging out with the main characters, he wouldn't have gotten so many kills.
"The BAU wanted a pure rookie who hadn't developed a fixed mindset, but also wanted soone with so practical experience and a strong learning ability. They scoured through a bunch of files, from veterans to newly recruited police officers across the country, and narrowed it down to only five candidates. You're one of them."
"I told them you were my prospective student, and that after completing your bachelor's degree, you would be pursuing a master's degree in psychology under my tutelage. The BAU checked your grades over the past few years and then selected you."
Jack was a little excited. This saved him at least three or four years of hard work. This free lunch was really sweet!
"Professor Cahill, I really don't know how to thank you enough."
Maureen whimpered, swatting away his mischievous hand.
"Take out, the water's getting cold."
