The following day, Ella finally couldn’t take the lingering silence between her and Adrian any longer.
Call her the cat whose curiosity got it killed but Ella finally dropped a text to Adrian.
In another city.
In one of the grandest ballrooms of the city, a man occupied a corner seat.
Like a king, he sat there, tall and quiet.
At a little distance, a row of people stood in queues like plebs awaiting for the King’s attention to be showered upon them.
The more the crowd increased, the further the person standing behind the ’King’ sweated.
Ji Yan kept a polite smile on his face as he dabbed his embroidered handkerchief on his face, only to realize that it was dripping at this point.
Adrian’s brows had etched together, a strong sense of displeasure emanated off him.
"Second Master, how about I get you to eat sothing?"
Adrian did not move. Did not flinch. Did not bat an eyelid.
Ji Yan sweated even more.
This had been the status of his Second Master from the past few days. Due to work affairs and ongoing projects that the King Empires had taken over, the man was imnsely busy with the deals.
There were green lines under his eyes and a deathly pallor enshrouded his face. As he sat there, he seed like a deadly vampire king who had barely erged from his slumber and at any mont, he could go on a killing spree.
Initially, he was so busy that he did not have ti to hold his phone. But now that he had so ti, Ji Yan caught the man engaged in his new social dia account.

Ji Yan still did not feel very... comfortable with the choice of userna but given that it was the first ti his Second Master showed so interest in anything other than work and Ella, he wholeheartedly supported it...
As for what he did there? Ji Yan had only gotten a glimpse of it once when he had peeked and he prayed to god that he never wanted to see it again.
The great and mighty Adrian King dealt with his wife’s haters through his savage replies in his free ti.
God forbid he was such a passionate man? Eh eh, the dog food was intense even when these two were not together.
"Mr. King," A daring individual, a man in his late 50s stepped past the queue and approached Adrian, a hint of a smile on his face.
Adrian did not look up.
’’This is my daughter..." In his right arm, the man held a delicate beauty, "She is in her early 20s and this is her first ti attending an event like this. The sole reason for it was... you."
Danger alarms blared in Ji Yan’s head.
Adrian’s face turned frosty.
The man prompted his daughter and the girl stepped forward, blushing and sighing as she bowed to Adrian, "Mr. King," In doing so, she revealed a hint of an allure.
She never moved to stand up and remained in that position, eting Adrian’s eyes.
Except, the man never looked at her.
The onlookers held their breaths as they watched the scene.
Seconds trickled by and turned into minutes.
The atmosphere turned awkward at so point.
Yet, Adrian never helped the girl up. Nor did he look at her.
The girl’s smile wavered a little, "Mr. King, I..."
Adrian’s frosty gaze cut to the girl’s father, "Scram."
One word and the place seed to have been coated in icicles.
Having heard of the situation, the organizer of the event appeared in a few seconds, apologized profusely and dragged the man and his daughter away with him.
Adrian pulled out his phone and turned his face away from the crowd.
The action seed to convey: [This king wants to hide his royal face from the plebs now.]
The crowd sighed and cursed the man who disrupted Adrian’s mood earlier. Previously, they still had so chances in approaching the man.
But after this fiasco—*hopeless sighs*
On the other hand, Ji Yan had other concerns, "Second Master, if you are missing Miss Yu so much, why don’t you text her?"
This was one thing that Ji Yan couldn’t understand.
Initially, the Second Master was too busy yet he had so ti to use his new social dia account for ’personal reasons’.
However, no matter what, he never texted or called Ella. If not for him occasionally staring at her caller ID and their previous chats in a reverie, Ji Yan would have surmised that his second master’s mind was no longer filled with thoughts of that person.
Adrian did not respond to Ji Yan.
Instead, as usual, he stared at their previous chats in silence.
Ji Yan sighed and whispered, "Second Master, Miss Yu had texted out of concern before. The reason she is not approaching you is probably because she doesn’t want to disturb you. If you break the ice, then..."
"I can’t control."
Can’t control?
Ji Yan froze when the man cut him off with those crisp words. He couldn’t understand what that ant.
After the Second Master ca back from the Main Mansion this ti, his behaviour had even beco more unpredictable, especially when it involved Ella.
Suddenly, the phone in Adrian’s hand buzzed.
A text from Ella sat on it: [Baby, have you been really busy?]
Ji Yan pitied her timing. With the Second Master’s determination, there is no way he would respond to it if he was determined to not talk to Ella.
However, in the next mont, Adrian’s fingers typed a reply: [Miss ?]
Ji Yan: "_" Fine, I am an airhead!
Within seconds, Ella’s gushy-mushy-way too cushy reply ca: [Miss you? Baby, thoughts of you have dominated my days, nights and everything in between. Without you, the air feels a little lacking and even the moonlight is not beautiful~ ]
Ji Yan choked on the dogfood and he was ready to avert his gaze so as to avoid looking at his second master’s reply.
But Adrian closed his phone.
"Make arrangents,’’ he pushed himself to his feet.
"Second Master...?"
’’We are going back."
