Lian Manman’s words were righteous and unyielding, leaving no room for rebuttal. At the sa ti, she effortlessly rendered Old Master Lian’s argunts useless.
Old Master Lian let out two gurgling sounds from his throat, as if his airway were blocked by sothing. Imdiately after, he began coughing violently.
Lady Zhou, frightened, hurried forward and started patting his back and chest.

It was rare for Lady Zhou to advise Old Master Lian, and also unusual for her to refrain from intervening in the matter. Lian Manman glanced at Lady Zhou, and with a turn of thought, she understood the reason.
The three sons had clearly divided — Lian Shouren and Lian Shouyi on one side, and Lian Shouxin on the other. Lady Zhou planned to remain neutral. While she was domineering, she had managed to wield influence in the Lian Family for many years. Lian Manman was left speechless. If she rembered correctly, this was the first ti Old Master Lian had adopted such a stance. This was a tactic often used by Lady Zhou, but when Old Master Lian used it, it was more subtle and dignified. "Father, there’s sothing at the County Yan, they’d like you to co over and speak." Lian Manman nodded, first letting Xiao Xi leave, then she got off the kang and said to Lian Shouxin.
"Father, I’ll be right back." Lian Shouxin quickly stood up.
Lian Shouxin and Lian Manman ca out of the Upper Room. Naturally, Lady Zhang and Xiao Qi did not stay behind and followed them out. As they reached the main gate, they t Wu Lang and Wang Youheng head-on.
Lian Manman and the others stopped.
"Where are the people from the County Yan?" Lian Shouxin asked.
"Father, it’s not soone from the County Yan looking for you; my brother has sothing to discuss with us." Lian Manman explained.
They didn’t return to the room but instead asked Xiao Xi and others to keep watch and not let anyone approach. They began talking in low voices behind the main gate.
"The coroner has examined the corpse, and Brother Youheng also took a look. The wound on the back of Lady Gu’s head doesn’t seem to be fatal," Wu Lang said in a low voice. Because of this new information, he had sent soone to pass the ssage and wanted everyone to discuss it together.
Upon hearing this from Wu Lang, Lian Manman and the others were taken aback.
"So it wasn’t Yingzi who killed Lady Gu? Then who was it?" Lady Zhang quickly asked.
"This isn’t clear. Lady Gu had no other injuries on her body. The coroner examined her earlier and found no signs of poisoning either," Wu Lang said, glancing at Wang Youheng.
"Did Lady Gu usually have any heart conditions?" Wang Youheng asked.
"I haven’t heard of any," Lady Zhang replied. In the past, Lady Gu’s health had always been good, and she rarely saw a doctor. Lately, her health obviously deteriorated, but who would’ve taken her to see a doctor or get dicine? "However, from what we observed in recent days, her health wasn’t great. To be frank, people privately said she wouldn’t live long."
"There were two tis when I saw her clutching her chest as if in great pain," Lian Manman thought for a mont and said.
"We can’t take her pulse now that she’s dead, but from her complexion, she might have died from a heart condition," Wang Youheng said carefully choosing his words.
Doubts arose about the cause of Lady Gu’s death, but given the forensic techniques of this era, it was impossible to precisely determine the cause of her death.
Lian Manman furrowed her brows.
"...The coroner ntioned this to privately; he hasn’t filled out the death certificate yet, so Brother Youheng and I ca over to discuss it with everyone," Wu Lang suddenly said.

If the coroner confird that Lady Gu indeed died from the head injury, Lian Manman had never intended to obstruct justice. But now, she glanced in the direction of the Upper Room.
