"Second brother and sister-in-law, if this were any other ti, I would hesitate to trouble you like this, but Qiyan is in a special situation now, so let’s be a bit shaless, alright?"

"Isn’t this inappropriate?" Zhao Yushui was still sowhat hesitant.

"There’s nothing inappropriate about it. I’ve already argued with the Zhou family elders for a long ti about this matter. It would be pointless to keep nagging about it. Just relax and stay here.

Having been here for so long, I can vouch for the character of the Zhou family. Regardless of whether what you did before was right or wrong, they won’t embarrass you because of it.

If you truly recognize us as relatives and genuinely feel you were wrong before, then stop dwelling on this issue and let’s settle it this way, alright?"

"Yulan, I still feel it’s not proper. They treat you well because they like Chuxia as a daughter-in-law, but there’s no reason to treat us well.

Even if they don’t mind, we still feel ashad..." With a sigh, Lin Xiaohua held Zhao Yulan’s hand, "Xia married into a good husband’s family, and we’re happy for her. We absolutely can’t hold her back."

After thinking for a bit, Zhao Yulan said, "How about this, I’ll talk to Xia tomorrow morning, see what she thinks we should do, and we’ll decide then, okay?"

"Okay." Lin Xiaohua nodded, "We’ll do as Xia says."

Early the next morning, as soon as Chuxia stepped out of her room, Zhao Yulan pulled her aside to discuss this matter. Chuxia looked at her mother with a face full of resignation, "Mom, didn’t we already settle this? Why are you still going over it again?"

"It’s not that..." Zhao Yulan was a bit embarrassed, "Wasn’t this brought up by your second uncle and them? Besides, they’re right to be worried, so I just..."

Chuxia interrupted her: "Mom, did you talk to Dad about this?"

"I did."

"What did Dad say?"

"He told not to bother you and that once sothing is decided, it’s not good to keep changing it."

Chuxia clapped her hands: "See, Dad is more straightforward than you."

"Those are my relatives, your dad isn’t straightforward."

"Mom, after so many years with Dad, can you honestly say that he’s that kind of person?"

Zhao Yulan glared at her daughter in displeasure: "You always side with your dad."

"It’s not that I always side with Dad; I’m just stating the facts. Mom, are you jealous of Dad?" Chuxia laughed looking at her, "After so many years together, and you’re still jealous, Mom, you’re really showing sothing new."

Zhao Yulan also laughed in embarrassnt, "Alright, we’ll go with what you say."

With Chuxia’s answer, Zhao Yushui’s family stopped insisting.

In the afternoon, Liu Zhenqiang found the Zhou family. He didn’t find them at the guesthouse, so he guessed they had co to the Zhou family, and after hesitating at the door for a long ti, he finally had soone announce his arrival.

Just having taken a break, Chuxia glanced at Zhao Qiyan and saw a slight excitent on her face, a smile playing at the corner of her mouth. This arrogant cousin probably wouldn’t hold out much longer.

And indeed, Zhao Qiyan, who grew up in the countryside, marrying soone like Liu Zhenqiang wasn’t too bad. Even though he had done sothing to wrong her, choosing her in the end was enough in Zhao Qiyan’s eyes.

As for whether Liu Zhenqiang chose her because of the Zhou family or because he loved her, it was a concern initially, but over ti, it didn’t matter much.

When survival and life collide, survival is most important.

It was Liu Zhenqiang’s first visit to the Zhou family, and he felt very restrained, following behind Little Jing with eyes straight ahead as he was led to the side room. There was no inquisition as he had anticipated; only Zhao Qiyan was sitting there, which relaxed him a bit.

The two talked for about an hour, and then Liu Zhenqiang left with his head hanging low. At the door, he ran into Zhou Mikang and imdiately straightened up to salute: "Hello, Commander Zhou!"

"Hello!" Zhou Mikang returned the salute and frowned, saying, "This is a ho, there’s no need for formalities. How did your talk with Zhao Qiyan go?"

Sighing and shaking his head, Liu Zhenqiang gave a wry smile, "She said she doesn’t trust my promises; she’ll only be willing to take back when my mom and sister truly accept her."

"Then you need to work on your mom and sister. Even if Zhao Qiyan behaved poorly before, now that she’s willing to change, she should be given a chance, right?"

Liu Zhenqiang nodded repeatedly, "Yes, yes, you’re right."

"Aren’t you concerned about Zhong Hongying anymore?" Zhou Mikang asked.

"I’m not concerned!" Liu Zhenqiang looked up at Zhou Mikang, "I’m telling the truth."

"Good." Zhou Mikang nodded, waving him off, "Goodbye."

Liu Zhenqiang: "..." He wasn’t concerned, but he wanted to know the outco, Commander Zhou. Is it really fair to start a topic and leave it without a follow-up?

Thinking this, but not daring to voice it, Liu Zhenqiang could only watch the figure of the Commander’s Tongzi disappear, before dejectedly heading to the bus station.

He’s just an ordinary worker now, what is there for his mom and sister to be so proud of?

But the problem is, the two of them are now venting their anger on Zhao Qiyan. They believe that without this woman, he wouldn’t be in this situation.

Even though he told them that if Zhao Qiyan no longer accepted him, he might not even be able to remain a worker, they still couldn’t forgive Zhao Qiyan.

The old lady even gritted her teeth, saying she didn’t believe the organization would penalize him over such a matter, claiming it would be too unjust. If it ca to that, she’d file an appeal at the provincial level!

Such a drastic change in his mother made her seem unfamiliar to him. Where did the old lady go who used to be grateful if he could just bring a woman ho?

Saying Zhao Qiyan was too snobbish, wasn’t his mother and sister the sa?

With a heavy sigh, Liu Zhenqiang shook all these thoughts out of his head; he had to face it himself. Since he couldn’t afford to offend Zhao Qiyan’s side, he could only work on his mother and sister.

He refused to believe that they could really watch him beco unemployed without doing sothing.

Reflecting on the things he’d done in the past, he shuddered— maybe he could make the issues sound more severe! (To be continued.
