"When have I ever prioritized romance over friendship?" Lin ngran looked at Yang Xiaoli with a face full of disbelief, "If I really did, I would’ve just let him down his drink in one go."
Yang Xiaoli rolled her eyes, "Please don’t tell the legendary lightweight is none other than your Zuo Jiang."
"You guessed right. If he sips slowly..." Lin ngran pondered for a bit, "he can probably handle six to seven ounces without a problem, but if he drinks fast, he’d pass out even before the glass is empty. He can wake up after a nap as if nothing happened. So, tell , am I not considerate by telling him to drink slowly?"
"You..." Zuo Jiang shook his head helplessly, "Clearly, you’re only comfortable when you’re giving a hard ti, right? I was touched earlier thinking you were looking out for , but it turns out I was just being silly."
"Look at yourself, thinking so highly!" Lin ngran rolled her eyes at him, "I admit I have my faults, but ultimately, you’re the instigator. Do you really think I’d protect you?"
"I say, are you two putting on a double act or... is this for real?" Yang Xiaoli gazed at them doubtfully, looking unsure.
Lin ngran and Zuo Jiang both turned to look at Yang Xiaoli, "Do we look like we’re performing a double act?"
Yang Xiaoli nodded, "Seeing how synchronized you two are right now, it really looks like it."
"Ou Yi, Zuo Qian..." Zuo Jiang looked for help from his two roommates, who quickly picked up their teacups to drink, their eyes fixed on the table pretending to act dumb.
Zuo Jiang looked helpless, "Don’t you think what you two are doing isn’t right?"
Lin ngran quickly chid in, "Yeah, what you’re doing doesn’t seem like what friends should do."
"It’s not that we don’t want to help you..." Ou Yi shrugged, "Seeing how in sync you two are now, who dares to say you’re not performing a double act?"
"Alright, think whatever you want..." Lin ngran pouted, "I’ve already said everything I know, how to deal with it is up to you."
"It’s just one drink, no need to go on and on about it," Yang Xiaoli grabbed her glass and downed it in one go, "Look at , do you still have the nerve to keep dawdling?"
Hesitating for a mont, Zuo Jiang also picked up his glass, drank it all in one go, and then... slumped softly onto the table...
"See..." Lin ngran shrugged helplessly, "You didn’t believe , but now you have to, right? Well, for Zuo Jiang, tonight’s al has co to an end. Let clarify, my tolerance isn’t good, I can’t keep up with you all, so feel free to continue."
"Seriously, what a lightweight..." Yang Xiaoli looked at the passed-out Zuo Jiang with disbelief, "Such a sturdy guy, and he’s useless like this? Had I known, I wouldn’t have bothered goading him."
"You didn’t believe ..." Lin ngran said with a hint of resentnt, "We’ve known each other for so long, and you still don’t know what kind of person I am? You even thought I was putting on a double act with Zuo Jiang. No need for acting now, right?"
"My bad, my bad..." Yang Xiaoli said as she poured herself another glass, "I’ll punish myself with a drink, okay?" As soon as she finished speaking, the drink was already in her stomach.
"Take it easy..." Lin ngran glared at her, "Be careful not to get drunk."
"Do you think a bit of alcohol will get drunk?" Yang Xiaoli sneered, "You underestimate . Let tell you, for , two bottles of fifty-two-degree baijiu are nothing."
Lin ngran looked at her in shock, "Are you serious?"
"When have I ever lied?" Yang Xiaoli glared at her, "Do you want to drink it right now? But, we need to have a bet. You tell , if I really drink two bottles, what will you do?"
"I’m not betting with you..." Lin ngran shook her head, "Whether you can drink two bottles or not, it’s harmful to your health. There’s no point in betting on this. I must say Xiaoli, why does it seem like you’re deliberately looking for an excuse to drink?"
"Oh stop it..." Yang Xiaoli rolled her eyes in dissatisfaction, "I’m not an alcoholic, no need to look for an excuse to drink, right? Look at you, are you afraid to bet with ?"
Lin ngran quickly nodded, "Alright, alright, I’m scared, I’m scared, okay?"
"Hey, why are you talking to like that, are you assuming I’m drunk?"
"No, no..." Lin ngran quickly denied, "By the look of you, I can see you’re not drunk. I just don’t want you drinking too much. It’s not good for a girl’s health to drink a lot, okay? Drink less."
Yang Xiaoli looked at Ou Yi, "Ou Yi, what do you say?"
Ou Yi just gave her a slight smile, "Drinking less is beneficial."
"What do you an?"
"I an, for the sake of your health, I suggest you drink less."
"You might as well co right out and tell everyone you dislike girls who drink..." Yang Xiaoli snorted, poured herself a glass, and downed it in one go. "I say, why are n always so fake?
One is like that, two are like that, three are still like that, haha..." As she spoke, she gulped down two more glasses, and Wu Jingbo, sitting next to her, quickly grabbed the glass from her hand, "Xiaoli, what are you doing?"
"Are you making fun of too?" Yang Xiaoli fixed her gaze on her. "Jingbo, I know you’re a particularly rational person, but I’m not, so, can you let go just this once? Can you not stop ?"
"Xiaoli, what’s wrong with you?" Chuxia frowned, "We’re all friends here. Whatever’s bothering you, just say it, and everyone will definitely think of a way to help you. Why are you doing this to yourself?"
"Lin Chuxia..." Yang Xiaoli squinted at Chuxia, "Are you lecturing ?"
"No." Chuxia glared at her, "Sit down and speak properly!"
"I won’t!" Yang Xiaoli not only refused to sit, but stepped back towards the door, gripping the doorfra with both hands. "I’m telling you, I’m in a good mood tonight. I want you all to drink with . If anyone doesn’t, they’re not my friend. Lin Chuxia, you have to drink with too. I’ve always treated you as a friend, but you keep lecturing . If you consider a friend, you have to drink with ."
"Xiaoli!" Wu Jingbo looked at her angrily, "You know what Chuxia’s situation is right now. How can you force her to drink? If you were really a friend, you wouldn’t do sothing like this!"
"A real friend..." Yang Xiaoli plopped down on the ground. "Yeah, what is a real friend like? I want to ask you all, who can give an answer?"
"What exactly happened?" Chuxia sighed, "Xiaoli, although we didn’t get along at first, through this nearly a year of interacting, we’ve co to accept each other. Can you stop making a fuss?
You have to believe, no matter what happens, no one will stand by and do nothing. Even if we can’t help, we’ll definitely stay by your side and face it together."
"I’m sorry, I don’t even know what I’m saying. If I said sothing that made you dislike , please forgive . I’m in pain, really in pain..." As she spoke, Yang Xiaoli grabbed the bottle and started drinking directly from it.
Lin ngran and Li Xinli quickly rushed forward to snatch the bottle from her hand, "Xiaoli, what are you doing?" Lin ngran glared at her disapprovingly, "You’ve been fine all along, why are you suddenly like this? If you don’t speak up, I’m going to lose it."
"I..." Looking at everyone with a dazed expression, her body swayed, and Yang Xiaoli passed out on the ground.
"This..." Glancing at Zuo Jiang slumped over the table, then at Yang Xiaoli lying on the floor, Lin ngran was speechless, wondering if they had chosen the wrong day?
In this state, sending them back to the school dormitory was really inappropriate. After a discussion, they decided to pack up the food with the guys supporting the guys and the girls supporting the girls, and head over to Chuxia’s family ho.
"What’s going on here?" Zhao Yulan looked at her daughter in surprise as a big group of people bustled in. "Didn’t you just start the al? How did this happen?"
"One’s a lightweight, and the other drowned herself in alcohol, so they’re like this now." Chuxia shook her head helplessly, "Don’t worry, Mom, apart from the two of them, no one else had a chance to drink yet." Then she directed everyone to settle the two of them in the guest room.
Zhao Yulan, Lin Baohe, and Old Master Zhao and Old Lady Zhao hadn’t eaten yet, so they decided to serve the packed food on plates and also the freshly cooked dishes, waiting for the younger ones to co and eat together.
After settling Yang Xiaoli and Zuo Jiang in, Chuxia looked at the others, "You shouldn’t leave tonight either, otherwise, when they wake up, there’s no one to take care of them, and I wouldn’t feel comfortable."
After hesitating for a mont, Ou Yi said, "I’d better not stay. Anyway, there’s nothing wrong with Zuo Jiang."
"Ou Yi..." Chuxia stared at him, "What are you afraid of?"
"Nothing..." Ou Yi smiled uncomfortably, "I’m telling the truth, anyway soone has to go back and inform the dorm manager. I might as well take care of that."
"I’ll handle the leave request." Lin ngran looked at her calmly, "Ou Yi, stop pretending. This ss with Yang Xiaoli tonight is related to you, isn’t it?"
Suddenly being questioned like this, Ou Yi’s face turned bright red: "No... it’s not."
"Don’t play dumb. I noticed, whenever she drinks, she always glances at you..." Lin ngran glared at him disdainfully, "I always thought you were soone who would own up to their actions, but now it seems you’re just a coward."
"Qian..." Ou Yi looked to Zuo Qian for help, "She won’t listen to anything I say, you talk to her."
"How can I say anything about this?" Zuo Qian scooted his chair away a bit, putting so distance between them before speaking, "I can’t lie through my teeth. You and Yang Xiaoli went out together for half the night. How should I know what happened between you two?"
"You..." Ou Yi, whose face was already red, now had even the base of his neck turned red. He hesitated for a while but couldn’t get a complete sentence out.
At this point, without needing further questions, it was clear sothing had indeed happened between Ou Yi and Yang Xiaoli, so everyone turned to look at him, with a look that said "you know what" in their eyes...
