Chapter 436: Chapter 301: Misunderstanding

The cries of Rao Xue were so loud that any family mbers of patients who could get away, along with idle obstetric doctors and nurses, ran out to see what the excitent was about. Given the ruckus, Wang Chunli, who had just co out of a patient’s room, even though displeased with her student, had to step forward.

“Comrade, let’s talk this over. What are you doing?”

“Carrying out official duties!” Zhou Hanliang stepped forward, flashing his work ID at Wang Chunli, “Rao Xue is suspected of colluding with counter-revolutionaries to harm our comrades. Please cooperate.”

Wang Chunli couldn’t really make out what the ID was, just saw the Dahong Country emblem, and imdiately retreated back to her office. If she didn’t care, no one else would, and thus Rao Xue, who was struggling desperately and screaming wildly, was thrown to Zhou Hanliang by Regintal Commander Tongzi like a piece of rag, slamd to the ground. Zhou Hanliang shook off his hands, picked up the rag, and followed Mikang, dragging it away…

“That was Regintal Commander Zhou just now, right?” After a while, soone in the crowd asked weakly.

“Yes, that was Regintal Commander Zhou.” Soone confird confidently.

“I heard Regintal Commander Zhou has a pretty temperantal nature, and it sure looked like it.”

“Actually, he’s very principled. My brother serves under him. He says that though Regintal Commander Zhou seems stern, he is clear about rewards and punishnts. Under his command, as long as one works hard and is capable, one will definitely not be buried.”

“From the way you speak, you really admire the commander.”

“Of course, don’t you admire him?”

“…”

A group of nurses murmured and laughed as they dispersed. Zhang Erniu stood outside for a while, still unable to figure out what had just happened.

Wasn’t Chuxia just an intern? Why was she helping Regintal Commander Zhou make arrests? Zhang Erniu scratched her head, the more she thought, the more confused she beca. Hearing Wang Chunli call her, she quickly ran back to the office, “Teacher, what do you need?”

“Do you know what’s going on with Rao Xue?” Wang Chunli, seeing the scene of Rao Xue being hauled outside by Mikang on her way out of the ward, and then quickly dodged when she saw the work ID with the Dahong Country emblem, sat in the office and pondered for a while, then rembered that Rao Xue had always been with Zhang Erniu.

“I don’t know,” Zhang Erniu shook her head bewilderedly, “I really don’t know.”

Wang Chunli waved her hand dismissively, “Forget it, go study.”

“Yes, teacher.” Zhang Erniu responded and sat back at her desk, staring at a sheet of paper for about fifteen minutes, completely motionless.

“Zhang Erniu,” Wang Chunli frowned in displeasure, “Focus on your studies. You don’t need to worry about Rao Xue’s affairs.”

Frightened, Zhang Erniu quickly refocused her attention, but decided in her heart to go ask Sun Shangi right after work; she and Chuxia were from the sa hotown, and she might know more than her.

Chuxia, along with Mikang and Zhou Hanliang, took Rao Xue to the room where the Xiao Family father and son were detained.

The Xiao Family father and son were both handcuffed and shackled to iron chairs, one sitting next to the other, resembling watchdogs.

Rao Xue, who had been struggling all the way, cald down imdiately upon seeing the father and son.

Zhou Hanliang pulled out the cloth in her mouth, “Still feel wronged?”

Rao Xue hung her head low for a while, then suddenly looked up fiercely at the father and son, “Didn’t you say she had no chance to escape? How did two grown n let her get away? How could you be so stupid?”

Xiao Yuwen had already given up hope by then, staring blankly at the ground, utterly unresponsive.

Xiao Bingqi also kept his eyes closed, remaining silent.

He had resigned himself to failure when he decided to take this step; for him, whether he took it or not, the outco would be the sa. So, he might as well take a gamble.

Since he was already a pawn, dying while taking soone with him was worth it after all.

Having arrested the three of them, the case was essentially clear-cut. Wanting to spare herself from Rao Xue’s hysteria and the listlessness of the Xiao family, Chuxia turned and left the room.

Mikang gave Zhou Hanliang a aningful look, and quickly followed her out.

Chuxia was standing under a ginkgo tree, her back to him, the noon sunlight spilling through the branches dappling her figure, adding a trace of warmth to his chilled heart.

He didn’t care that they were in a military area; he embraced her from behind.

“Don’t do this,” Chuxia shook her body, trying to break free, “It’s not good if soone sees us.”

“You are my wife.”

“I am your wife, that’s true, but you’re in uniform.”

“Soldiers have emotions, soldiers have lovers too,” Mikang hugged her even tighter.

Fearful of being spotted, Chuxia’s body involuntarily stiffened, “Have you forgotten who you are?”

“No matter what identity, everyone is human; we all have emotions and desires. Chuxia, you scared to death,” Mikang didn’t care at all.

“I’ll talk to you tonight when I co ho. Right now, I need to return to the hospital,” Chuxia said as she gently patted his hand. “If it weren’t for Yang Xiaoli, I don’t know where I’d be now. I need to thank her and explain to my teacher why I disappeared. We can talk more this evening, okay?”

Mikang turned her around to face him and stared into her eyes, “Don’t you want to take revenge with your own hands?” Originally, it had been agreed that after capturing Rao Xue, she would have the chance to vent her anger first.

“You would do it better than ,” Chuxia said with a smile. “The mont I woke up, so many thoughts flashed through my mind. The best plan even involved escaping while being hurt. Mikang, thank you for letting continue to live with my head held high.”

A flicker of displeasure passed through his eyes: “I am your husband.”

Seeing soone approaching, Chuxia pushed him forcefully: “Let go of , let’s talk nicely, or else I’ll ignore you.”

Feeling Chuxia’s annoyance, Mikang no longer insisted and let go of her hand: “Alright, you say it.”

Chuxia waved at him and quickly backed away: “I’ll tell you tonight. As for revenge, you enact it for now. With my strength, I’d hurt myself more than them. It’s pointless.”

“This hospital is so far away, how will you get there by yourself?” Mikang quickly caught up to her and grabbed her hand. “I’m being deployed in a few days; do you really need to avoid like this?”

Chuxia purposely pouted: “I’m just afraid you love too much to leave.”

Mikang: “…”

Because of what happened this morning, after stopping the car at 401, Mikang insisted on accompanying Chuxia to Song Xiaoyu’s office before leaving.

Knowing his temper, Chuxia didn’t try to dissuade him, but just cheerfully said, “From now on, I’ll be going to work every day.”

“I will make appropriate arrangents.”

Chuxia was startled, her big eyes widening: “What do you an?”

“You don’t need to worry, it won’t affect your life,” Mikang said authoritatively as he wrapped his arm around her shoulders and walked forward, “I also haven’t seen Auntie Song in a long ti; it’s a good chance to visit her now.”

“Okay then,” Chuxia resigned herself. Originally, she didn’t want others to know whom she had married, hoping not to invalidate her efforts. After this incident, though, she had co to terms with it.

No matter what she did, once people knew whom she had married, they would look at her differently for a while. In fact, it was indeed the Zhou family’s influence that had gotten her into the dical team. What was there to hide?

She might as well face it openly early on, or perhaps, people wouldn’t even notice.

Mikang looked at Chuxia and said, “The people in this hospital don’t know ; you’re overthinking it.”

“Right,” Chuxia suddenly slapped her forehead, “I imagined you as more famous than a movie star, haha…”

Mikang: “…”

Entering the hospital building, a few nurses who knew Chuxia just happened to pass by. They nodded and smiled at Chuxia, and when they turned their gaze to Mikang, it was purely out of curiosity.

“I get it now, your identity is Lin Chuxia’s husband, hehe…” Chuxia teased Mikang with a laugh, “They must be judging whether you’re handso enough for .”

Mikang snorted: “Now you know, right? Other than the big shots from Brigade A, the only others who know are so childhood friends and classmates. As for Brigade A’s local hospital, only a handful of doctors and nurses know . Here at 401, you can count on one hand the people who know —you’re definitely worrying too much.”

Chuxia just nodded with a laugh, “Yeah, I’m worrying unnecessarily, unable to see the forest for the trees.”

“That’s a good acknowledgnt of your mistake.”

With still half an hour left before work ti, worried that Song Xiaoyu and Wang Jing might be taking a nap, Chuxia first knocked on the door and then pushed it open herself. Seeing only Song Xiaoyu sitting at the desk reviewing docunts, Chuxia greeted her teacher with a smile and then called back to Mikang: “Co in.”

Song Xiaoyu really disliked people who were not punctual. Thus, the mont she saw Chuxia, her face fell, and seeing Mikang co in with her, her expression grew even longer.

“What is this supposed to an?” Song Xiaoyu glared at the two, “Do you want to write a transfer report?”

“Auntie, you’re too hot-tempered,” Mikang said with a wry smile, “No wonder you and my mom are friends; that quick temper, too similar. Do you think Chuxia deliberately stood you up?”

“Isn’t that the case?” Song Xiaoyu snorted coldly, “Xiaomi, I’ve watched you grow up, and in my mory, you’re not the kind of child who likes to make up lies. What, now that you have a wife, you’ve abandoned all principles?

Now, I don’t care what Lin Chuxia’s identity is, nor whether she is a student I admired. If this is her attitude towards work, sorry, but I’m not going along with it.”

“Auntie Song, Chuxia ca over early this morning but was kidnapped by Xiao Bingqi and his son on the way to the dormitory. I just rescued her not long ago and, fearing sothing might happen to her, personally brought her here,” Mikang was not one to beat around the bush, and at such a mont, there was no point in mincing words.

“Is that really true?” Song Xiaoyu jumped up in shock, and then noticed Chuxia’s swollen cheeks, “Other than your face, did you get hurt anywhere else?”
