Ning shrugged at the surprised look of the president, who then read out Ning’s requests. So requests were confusing to most, but even if they didn’t understand the reasoning behind them, they understood full well that it could not be harmful to their agency.

Considering Ning’s ask for salary wasn’t a lot either, the board mbers were quite happy.

"That’s all I need," Ning said. "You can start preparing a contract based on that very soon."

The president nodded. "Then, may we move on to sothing more important?" he asked. "What can you do?"

Ning gave a confused look. "What can I do?" he asked. "For your agency?"

"My apologies. I was asking about your powers," the president quickly said.

Ning paused for a mont. "Do you not know what I can do?" he asked. "I thought you were notified about from the DPA testers."

"We were notified of you and your ranking. Your power itself is a secret they cannot divulge without your permission. We will ask you to sign a release form before you leave today so we can request the details of your test from the DPA. We could wait until then to find out, but if you don’t mind, we would like to know right away."

"I see," Ning said, reaching for a soda can before him and opening it. "I can transform into a giant bat."

"A bat?" the president asked. "That’s... your power?"

Ning nodded.

The people murmured among themselves while the president remained entirely quiet. The next ti he spoke, he looked much more confused.

"I’m sorry, you can turn into a bat?" the man asked. "And... that got you a Rank 9?"

"Of course not," Ning said, downing the entire can of soda in one gulp. "I also have a strong body."

Ning crushed the can in his palm and kept crushing it until it beca the size of a tiny, dense bead that was starting to glow red hot. He dropped it on the table and it sizzled on the condensation left over from the can before.

Everyone looked in pure shock at the sight of what Ning had just done. The strength required to make sothing like that happen could have only co from a giant hydraulic press. They could not believe that Ning had such strength.

"That is just one part of it," Ning said. "My speed, reflexes, endurance, and durability are also of the sa tier. To get an accurate answer though, you’ll have to ask DPA, but for reference, I captured Waveshot all by myself."

The look on everyone’s faces was one to see. Not a single one had their jaw completely closed. Even lly wasn’t exempt from the shock.

The president coughed a mont later, finally regaining his wits. "That’s... that’s incredible. Our agency is truly lucky to have gained your favor."

Ning smiled. "Anything else you wish to ask of ?"

The president gave a grimacing smile. "Truth is, I don’t know what we would be talking about really. Most of the ti when we get heroes we want to join us, we try and persuade them with how much they can earn and how our facility could help them. Almost every ti, we are trying to dissuade them from joining the other agencies or compromising on contract terms."

"However, you’ve co here with the intention to join, and more than that, you already know what you want from the contracts, so there’s nothing much left for us to do except talk," the president said.

"Well, then I guess you can show around your facilities. I never really cared for hero agencies before I gained my powers, so I am quite lacking in knowledge on that subject."

"Ah! Of course. We’ll take you to see right away," the president said. "If you don’t mind, would you sign the release form so we can get information on your DPA test?"

"Bring the form."

Once Ning signed the form, he left the room and walked out with lly, who still followed him. As he strode along, he leaned toward her and said in a whisper, "Please make sure I don’t get ripped off with the contract. I don’t mind earning less, but I don’t want a bunch of old farts sitting around doing nothing to get paid more as a result."

lly frowned slightly. "We can’t make that happen," she said. "The board mbers get paid based on the profit, so if you won’t take the majority of it, they will."

Ning nodded. "Then pay my valid amount. I will give the majority to charity."

"Would you perhaps like to set up a trust fund for your future children?" she asked.

"I don’t—" Ning paused. "Sure. Who knows? I might adopt a few soon enough."

lly nodded.

"Oh right, I also wanted to ask sothing," Ning said, glancing back at the n, most of whom had remained behind in the boardroom. "Why is everyone there human? Or at least looks human."

"They’re not all humans," she said. "But I get what you an. Sad as it may be, our society is very biased against people and their looks. Those that look like them—Humans, Elves, and Angels—tend to get better treatnt. It’s not even just about higher race or lower race; it’s only the ones that look like humans. It’s... not fair, but it’s hard to get rid of inherent racism."

"You don’t actively reject other races, do you?" Ning asked.

"Oh, no. It’s just the board mbers that are like this. We employ every other race without any bias or discrimination. You’ll see soon enough."

lly was correct. As soon as they went a floor down to check on the lounge area for the various heroes and their agents, Ning could imdiately see a lot more variety there.

Everyone, from Werewolves to Centaurs to Ghouls, was there.

Ning even saw a few heroes lounging around, but not ones that he recognized. Looking at them, however, a thought ca to him.
