Xue Yang was speechless. The world of a wealthy woman is indeed unremarkable.
Knowing he wouldn’t get anything more out of her, Xue Yang decided to start from scratch.
"Go and study. Take it seriously so you won’t get swindled again and end up counting money for the person who conned you."
"Are you saying I’m stupid?"
"Be confident. I am saying you’re stupid."
"..."
Si Wen wanted to argue, but she realized she couldn’t and reluctantly went off to study.
Why do I still have to do howork, even at the company? Si Wen was in a funk.
For the next while, Xue Yang earnestly reviewed the materials, Si Wen earnestly worked on her exam papers, and Lin Xi was fast asleep.
Her sleeping posture was excellent. She leaned against the sofa, covered with Xue Yang’s jacket, revealing a pair of long, straight legs.
Just like a heroine from a novel. I can’t even imagine what a sight it would be if she were wearing silk stockings right now.
By comparison, Si Wen felt even more depressed.
Why is there such a huge disparity between people?
She plopped her head down on the desk, not wanting to move anymore.
"Don’t slack off. Keep writing!"
Xue Yang’s voice suddenly ca from above, startling her. She quickly picked up her pen to continue.
Wait, why should I be afraid of him?
Although she had that thought, her hands didn’t stop. She just kept writing. She didn’t need Lin Xi to go easy on her. She was determined to get first place in this exam.
She kept at it until past twelve noon, at which point Si Wen ordered takeout over the phone.
The morning was spent getting familiar with company procedures. The afternoon would be dedicated to introducing Xue Yang to the company’s managent team.
"Jennifer, could you co in for a mont?"
Before long, a knock ca from the door.
"Co in."
Jennifer pushed the door open. "Big Boss, you wanted to see ?"
When she saw Xue Yang sitting in Si Wen’s seat, Jennifer was montarily stunned. What’s going on here? Has the boss changed?
The next second confird her suspicion.
"Jennifer, I’ll be preparing for the college entrance exam for the next six months, so I plan to delegate all company matters to Xue Yang. From now on, you only need to report all company affairs to him. You won’t need my approval."
Hearing Si Wen’s words was both expected and unexpected. In any case, Jennifer might have been worried if it were soone else, but since it was Xue Yang, she actually felt relieved.
"Alright, Big Boss."
Who could have imagined it? He started as an ordinary part-ti photo retoucher, then beca a part-ti model for Trendy Apparel, and later its brand ambassador. Now, he’s leaped to the position of Executive Director. His position is just a notch below the Big Boss, but it seems his authority is even greater. The world is truly full of surprises.
"President Xue."
"Jennifer, there are no outsiders here. You can just call Xue Yang."
"That won’t do. This is the company. Business is business, and personal is personal. We need to keep that distinction clear."
Jennifer understood that Xue Yang was saying this because he rembered that she had helped him. But now that he had jumped to beco her superior, it would be incredibly unwise if she didn’t recognize her new position. After all, he wasn’t the one who had lent her the money; the Big Boss was.
After finishing her al, Lin Xi sat upright on the sofa, her head lowered. She alternated between looking at her phone and glancing at Xue Yang.
He’s so captivating when he’s focused on work.
If Si Wen could hear her thoughts, she would definitely argue loudly.
Xue Yang, captivating? What’s so captivating about him? He’s intimidatingly serious. You can feel the pressure radiating from him from several ters away. It made her shiver.
"You and Si Wen wait here for ," Xue Yang said to Lin Xi. "I’m going to have a eting with Jennifer, and it might take a while. If you get bored, you can help Si Wen with her test papers. I get the feeling there are a lot of questions she doesn’t know how to solve."
Lin Xi nodded. "Okay."
Si Wen was puzzled. "When did I say there were problems I couldn’t solve?"
"You have them."
"..."
With that, he and Jennifer left.
The Trendy Apparel Company was huge, occupying an entire floor of the building, plus a top-floor shooting studio. Xue Yang could only think that it was a grand operation. Very Si Wen.
Unlike the garnt factory, the company was divided into several main departnts: Design, Procurent, Sales, Finance, and Logistics. The departnts were comprehensive—at the very least, more so than his Tiani Studio.
The Design Departnt, the creative soul of the company, was primarily overseen by Jennifer and was responsible for product design and developnt.
The Procurent Departnt handled negotiations, contracts, and purchasing with suppliers. Its duties included sourcing quality suppliers, creating procurent plans, and coordinating the supply chain. It was one of the most important departnts and also the one most susceptible to graft.
The Sales Departnt was tasked with achieving sales targets and enhancing custor satisfaction through store managent, marketing, and channel developnt.
The Finance Departnt was in charge of corporate financial managent, including accounting, preparing financial statents, and tax managent.
The Logistics Departnt was responsible for a wide variety of tasks. It seed the first custor service representative Xue Yang had ever dealt with was from Logistics. He didn’t know which one she was yet, but he figured he’d have a chance to et her in the future.
Prior to this, Xue Yang had already done a general review of the key personnel.
The head of Procurent was Zhang Yao, a thirty-year-old woman who had reportedly returned from studying at a prestigious university abroad. She single-handedly managed procurent and was very capable.
The head of the Sales Departnt was Wu iju, a Yanbei graduate who had joined Trendy Apparel right after college. Having watched the company grow step-by-step, she was decisive and efficient in her work—a true sales champion. As a result, she carried herself with an air of superiority.
The Design Departnt was headed by Jennifer, whom Xue Yang already knew. The head of the Finance Departnt was Zeng Xiaoli. Xue Yang wasn’t yet clear on her characteristics, nor those of the head of the Logistics Departnt. He would make his judgnt after they arrived.
Xue Yang was only a college freshman about to face a group of seasoned professionals. It would be a lie to say he wasn’t nervous.
"Jennifer, I hope you won’t let them know I’m just a freshman for the ti being," he said quietly.
"I understand. Don’t worry, my lips are sealed. But I should warn you, the Big Boss has always taken a laissez-faire approach with the company. With your sudden appearance, they’re likely to try and trip you up. You should be ntally prepared."
"Don’t worry, I understand. Let them in."
Jennifer was quick. Before long, she had summoned the departnt heads to the conference room.
A total of three people entered. Including Xue Yang and Jennifer, there were now five people in the room. The eting was supposed to have six attendees, which ant one person was missing.
The only one bold enough to skip a new executive director’s first eting could be none other than the sales champion, Wu iju.
One of the managers reported, "President Xue, we received a ssage from Manager Wu. She’s dealing with sothing and asks if you would please wait for her."
...
PS: The interaction between the male and female leads is okay, but I’m really not good at writing the business startup parts. Does anyone have any good suggestions? (I’ve got major writer’s block.)
