In the end, that was truly where her life ended.
The day before, a maid bringing her a al had told her she’d been sentenced to death by the court. The execution was scheduled for the following day.
Perhaps it was all just a ploy by Vivian Yates.
She had cried, scread, despaired, and grown hysterical, only to be played by that bitch. That despicable pair had killed her, killed her child!
At this thought, Annabelle Linton completely lost control again!
"Aah, why? Why?! What did I do wrong? What could I possibly have done wrong for you to treat this way?! Go to hell! All of you, just go to hell—"
Annabelle Linton scread madly, desperately smashing her hand—which was already embedded with shards—against the wall.
The wall was instantly stained with blood, but Annabelle Linton didn’t stop. She started banging her head against it.
A sickening THUDDING sound echoed from the wall, each impact more vicious than the last. It was a sound that struck fear into the heart of anyone who heard it.
Leona Grant saw the blood on the floor and finally snapped out of his stupor. He grabbed Annabelle Linton, shouting furiously, "Annabelle Linton, what do you think you’re doing—"
Annabelle Linton struggled desperately. "Let go! Let go of ! Leona Grant, I hate you! I hate you so much! Get away from ! Get away!"
The rims of Leona Grant’s eyes turned scarlet. He never imagined that a few simple words from him could drive this woman into such a frenzy.
"Annabelle Linton, have you lost your mind?! Snap out of it!"
"Get the hell out! Get out! You’re all trying to fra ! You all want dead! You all want dead! Why should I be the one to die? Why ?! Leona Grant, I’ve had enough!"
"Soone, get a tranquilizer! Quickly, get a tranquilizer!"
Leona Grant roared. The maid, who had been frozen in fear nearby, finally snapped back to her senses and, with trembling hands, gave the tranquilizer to Leona Grant.
Leona Grant took the tranquilizer and injected it into Annabelle Linton. Annabelle shuddered once, her frantic struggles ceasing. The next mont, as if all her strength had been drained away, she collapsed into Leona Grant’s arms.
Without a second’s delay, Leona Grant rushed Annabelle Linton back to the hospital.
...
「The Hospital.」
Annabelle Linton had just been discharged from the hospital yesterday, and now she was back, injured again.
The doctor examined her with a frown. After a day of turmoil, his conclusion was that her injuries were even more severe this ti. Her forehead, in particular, was a major concern. The previous wound hadn’t even healed, and now she had slamd it against a wall, nearly causing brain damage.
Then there was her hand, which was full of glass shards. So were embedded so deeply that they had to cut the flesh with a scalpel to remove them.
Leona Grant thought of Annabelle Linton’s long, slender fingers and asked in a low voice, "Will there be scars?"
The doctor considered for a mont before replying, "It will definitely scar. However, if she takes good care of it and eventually gets minor costic surgery, it should be unnoticeable."
Leona Grant sighed. He glanced into the hospital room, then gave the doctor a brief account of the day’s events. "Why did she lose control like that today?" he asked.
The doctor mulled it over. "Based on your description," he began, "I suspect the Young Madam has suffered so kind of stimulus related to this, resulting in severe psychological trauma. I noticed during the earlier CT scan that the shadow this event has cast on her mind seems very deep. Her family needs to be as supportive as possible. You must not let her be agitated like this again, or else..."
Leona Grant’s heart clenched. "Or else what?"
