Reeves carried a bundle of forage and threw it into the stable, the large white mammal that ca with them sluggishly munched on it and he watched, his brows furrowed.
A few monts later, soft footsteps approached him from behind. Without looking back Reeves grunted:
"Don’t try to convince . I’m not going..."
"Alright!" Nata exclaid and turned back, tiptoeing away.
Turning his head, he raised a brow.
"Seriously? That’s your best shot at trying to convince ?"
She stopped and shrugged as she turned around.
"You know pal, I’m not that great at persuasion. Hans and Oatmilk forced this role on " She chuckled.
Reeves looked down for a mont and turned to the eating beast.
She observed him silently and did not speak until after a couple of minutes.
Standing beside him with her hand resting on the hilt of what looked like a rapier, her soft voice rolled out:
"You know... everyone is kinda looking forward to this."
Reeves frowned deeply, his arms trembled as he clenched his fist.
He gritted his teeth before growling a second later:
"All of you have been chard by his craziness! In just how many days of becoming our leader he is going to bring such a significant change to our lives?" He heaved, "and he didn’t even decide to start slow! Felfhiem of all places! Nata you know Felfhiem should be the last place we soulless should be heading to! And yet..."
His chest rose and fell... he turned his head away and shut his eyes.
"Nevermind, you guys can go and die for all I care."
Nata smiled bitterly, "die... is a strong word Reeves." Her expression beca solemn, radiation the aura of a saintess.
Reeves glanced at her and lowered his face, contradiction lines forming over his brows. He ground his teeth together for a while and grumbled:
"I’m sorry, I never should have said that..." He hesitated for a second then, "but..."
Nata intruded before he could continue:
"We made the decision to go to Felfhiem despite knowing what was at stake. Do you think it was because we were being thoughtless and crazy."
Her voice grew passionate with softness as she spoke on:
"We soulless, we were created without any passion, we were made to serve, to be used... and we have served many of which Divine Nightmare is the greatest. So great that we have lived over five centuries without a worthy master. And now that one is here, we can finally find purpose again... in his purpose."
She looked up with a pure smile on her face.
"I don’t know what you see, but since this morning, anyti I look at that man, I see a strong soul desperately trying to survive inside him. I see a man full of endless possibilities. The excitent and joy that cos from the expectation of change he may usher into our lives is just overwhelming."
She turned to him with that pure smile shining even brighter.
"I know you feel it too. You are just too scared, careful and traumatized to see it."
Reeves did not raise his head throughout the conversation. It stayed bowed, hands clenched and trembling.
He then raised it and looked at her, his voice low:
"He’s going to bring a lot of trouble into our lives."
She shrugged, "It’ll be fun."
Reeves looked into her eyes for a few seconds.
There was no helping these people. They were pretty dead set on the decision they have made.
He could have expected anything from Jackal and Nata who more or less saw what they wanted and went for it without much thought of the consequences, since they had not co close to tasting what it felt like to almost... die.
But Othorman and Hans were a different story... and he...
He shook his head.
"I don’t think I want to go to Felfhiem Nata. I’m sorry."
She smiled and patted his back gently.
"I actually did not expect to convince you. I just said my piece I guess."
Then she ended the last pat with a hard slap on his back.
Reeves jolted forward, electricity spiraling through his body.
"Oww! What was that for?"
"For making waste my spit!"
She turned to walk away but paused and said without looking back at him:
"You better stay alive till we co back."
He allowed a cocky smile and retorted:
"I should be saying that to you all. Aren’t you the ones walking into the gaping mouth of death itself?"
"Whatever." She walked away silently, not much of her step could even be heard.
Reeves shook his head.
"Madness, this is madness"
—
On a boat that slowly transverse a tranquil lake that reflected the pitch darkness of the sky, a man shrouded in dark-violet apparel, overlaid by a tattered black cloak sat...
...somberly sharpening a ghostly blade, while humming.
When he was done, he raised the blade, its stainless steel perfectly reflecting half of his black face, the pitch black eyes that set deep within them emanating a vicious lunacy.
He licked the blade with his purple tongue and looked down into the lake with a perverted grin.
Then he stood up on the boat, skillfully twirled his sword and stabbed into the water.
The entire body of the tranquil lake began to shake a few seconds later.
The strange man’s features contorted with glee as he watched.
He hugged himself and folded, speaking with a disturbing voice:
"It’s coming, I can feel it, it’s making my whole body so senstive... awww, ohh, ahhh..."
Then a massive tentacle short out of the water, curling into the air for a mont.
As the tentacle uncurled, it lashed out and smashed the boat into shatters. However, the black skinned pervert was already in the embrace of the dark sky.
He rolled and swung his sword, a second later, an enormous slash tore through the air, severing a chunk of the tentacles.
It wiggled as the top fell into the water. Then seven more shot out imdiately, aiming for the man that was falling into the water.
"No you don’t!"
He groaned and stepped on one, turning into a blur and appeared, twirling in the far sky, he shot down again with a lightning speed and struck as he streaked across the tentacles.
Just a second later, another enormous strike resounded in the air like a thunder clap and a chunk of all seven tentacles flew apart from themselves, bathing the air in purple gore.
The man landed softly landed on the water and began to take beautiful steps towards the abomination, walking without the care of sinking.
Instead, a fla of madness burned in his eyes, his white hair fluttering beneath the loneso moon that casted a weak glow to the water.
He got to the center of the water and raised his sword up.
"You’ll be serving as a strengthening ingredient for ... I need a black monster core to regain my strength since I’ll be hunting a prey very soon"
The center of the water he was standing on rippled, his eyes widened and form disappeared, appearing afar in the air monts before a massive creature with the head of a squid plunged out of the sea.
The water rose and swirled around the monster, the severed tentacles slowly retreated into the water as the monster glared at the man in the air with an intense bloodlust burning in its red eyes.
The hunter allowed a pale grin.
"Don’t make this any more difficult for than it should be..."
He opened his other hand, materializing a dagger, feeling the wind blow against his dark skin trendously as he dove towards the monster.
He crossed both weapons across himself and grinned crazily as he approached the monster. Then with an astonishing speed he flashed across it.
A trendous purple cross slash appeared in the air, separating even the water with a thunderous tremor.
Everything seed like it was cut by it.
The creature was still in the water for a few seconds then its blood gushes out in a devastating pattern of cross, tainting the water with its impurity.
The man landed on the monster and as much dug his way into it as its body retreated lifelessly into the sea.
After a couple of minutes, he ca out, bathed in violent gore with a cream colored orb in his hand.
He looked at it and clicked his tongue with a downturned smile.
"It’s lower than I thought, no wonder it was so easy to kill."
He opened his mouth wide and forced the large orb into it.
After swallowing the orb—was a frightening sight to behold—
His body began to break apart, he hugged himself and groaned wildly, as if enjoying the pain of renewal that was happening withing his body.
"Yes, yes, this is it! This is the feeeelliinggg" he moaned, biting his lower lips.
After a while, it stopped and he cald down. His eyes glead with a renewed madness.
"Now, let’s go for the main course."
