When Demo Did heard Fang Chenyi ask about his incredibly cool tractor, he imdiately perked up.
He had to admit, that thing was practically custom-made for where he lived.
"Boss, you have no idea, that thing is so aweso to drive! All those guys were staring their eyes out. Especially the cool startup sequence! So of them even said they wanted to modify their sports cars to start up the sa way!"
’Geez, rich people have the weirdest hobbies.’
As he listened to Demo Did excitedly recount how he’d been driving across the great desert at two hundred miles per hour with a girl in his arms and his pet lion in the back, Fang Chenyi couldn’t help but picture the ridiculous scene in his mind.
"Boss, let tell you, if the wind wasn’t blasting my face off at two hundred miles an hour, I’d have floored it—er, no, I’d have pulled the throttle all the way back! And you should have seen it! Man, when that thing gets going, it kicks up a huge cloud of dust! But everything about that tractor is great, except it’s a little hard on the butt..."
At this point, Demo Did glanced over at Bai nghan, then lowered his voice and gave Fang Chenyi a thumbs-up as he whispered:
"Boss, I gotta say, the you-know-what takes no effort at all. I was driving and finished the you-know-what at the sa ti. But I discovered that it’s best to do the you-know-what on a bumpy road, hehehe..."
Left speechless by the guy, Fang Chenyi coughed twice and quickly changed the subject.
"Ahem, as long as it’s useful, that’s what matters. By the way, can you guarantee the items here are authentic?"
Demo Did, who had been about to discuss in detail which types of roads were best with Fang Chenyi, saw that he’d changed the subject and had no choice but to swallow his words. He casually picked up the brochure and flipped through a few pages. Looking at the various antiques and cultural relics, he simply shook his head.
"That’s hard to say. But since they dare to put them up for auction, the probability of them being genuine is pretty high. Otherwise, they’d be ruining their own reputation."
After saying that, he casually closed the brochure and continued speaking to the nodding Fang Chenyi.
"Boss, I’ve already seen all this stuff. Look, this Yuan Blue and White Porcelain, it’s the most expensive thing in this auction. You don’t even have to ask, I’ll definitely get it for you! As for the rest, if you like it, I don’t mind buying it all! Of course, all of this is still far less valuable than that ’treasure’ in your possession. Just consider this my down paynt to you, Boss."
After hearing Demo Did’s words, Fang Chenyi just smiled and shook his head. ’It seems this guy really doesn’t know much about Huaxia’s culture.’ Anyone with even a little knowledge of Huaxia culture wouldn’t say sothing like that while looking at the enormous Copper Beast Head.
"Oh, Boss, are you looking down on my financial power? Although I’m nowhere near your level, I really don’t think much of these items. I’ve already done the math. The total starting bid for this whole booklet is about five or six hundred million US Dollars, and the final sale price will probably be around one point one or one point two billion US Dollars."
Seeing Fang Chenyi smile and shake his head, Demo Did retorted, sowhat indignantly.
But Fang Chenyi didn’t argue back, because there was no need. Once that Copper Beast Head ca out, Demo Did would probably understand what a true cultural relic was.
Ti passed quickly as they chatted. When an auctioneer in a sharp suit walked onto the stage, everyone in the audience gradually stopped talking and turned their attention to the front.
After the auctioneer’s opening remarks, the auction officially began.
"Alright, my dearest ladies and gentlen, as I ntioned earlier, today is our Huaxia-thed auction. Therefore, our first item up for bid is the bronze rabbit head from the Lu Palace! Because it is being provided by the Lu Palace, its starting bid is one euro!"
Listening to the auctioneer on stage drone on in French, Fang Chenyi was utterly speechless. ’Isn’t this supposed to be a Huaxia-thed auction? Couldn’t you get a Mandarin-speaking auctioneer?’
At that mont, he finally understood the true aning of ’it’s scary to be uncultured.’ He turned to Bai nghan beside him and asked, a little embarrassed:
"Um, what’s this guy saying?"
Bai nghan gently rested her head on Fang Chenyi’s shoulder and began translating for him in a low voice.
Seeing Bai nghan choose to translate for him so quietly, afraid he’d be laughed at, moved Fang Chenyi’s heart. However, he had always subscribed to the traditional Huaxia virtue that the shy get nothing while the shaless feast. So, he planted a loud smooch on Bai nghan’s pretty cheek and said nonchalantly to the blushing girl:
"It’s fine. If I don’t know it, I don’t know it. I’m one of the Huaxia People, why should I learn their damn bird-talk! Just translate it for directly."
Hearing Fang Chenyi’s voice, a pot-bellied Huaxia man in front of them turned around, gave Fang Chenyi a thumbs-up with a look of deep agreent, and said:
"Right on! This young man is absolutely right! We’re Huaxia People, why the hell should we learn this damn language? Um, beautiful lady, when you translate, could you perhaps speak a little louder, so a fatty like can listen in too? Hehe."
The two of them exchanged a look, both speechless...
But at this point, even without Bai nghan’s translation, Fang Chenyi and the fat man could already guess what the auctioneer was talking about.
After the auctioneer finished speaking, four staff mbers walked up, carrying a large glass display case.
And what else could be inside that glass case but one of the legendary Copper Beast Heads?
Seeing this, all the Chinese people in the vicinity couldn’t help but show looks of shock.
Although they had all co for this treasure, none of them had expected it to be the very first item.
As the auctioneer finished his speech, the surroundings fell into a deep silence.
A mont later, in the middle section of the audience, a paddle with the number 36 was raised:
"One euro!"
As soon as the voice rang out, everyone’s gaze turned toward the bidder. When they saw that the person holding the paddle was a rather famous entrepreneur from Huaxia, everyone once again fell silent.
And from the looks of it, not a single person was willing to make a counter-bid.
Seeing this, a faint smile appeared on Fang Chenyi’s lips. ’Who said the people of Huaxia aren’t united? That’s only when there’s no external enemy. When faced with one, all Huaxia People are united.’
Clearly, everyone was thinking the sa thing. If the bidder hadn’t been from Huaxia, they would have definitely started a bidding war.
"Boss, don’t you like this thing?"
