Once Chen Bitong finished speaking, he stood calmly and waited.

Chen Chuan considered his choices before eting Chen Bitong’s gaze. “I need to destroy that propagated offspring, Instructor Chen. This is the World Ring Defense System’s primary mission for . I hope that you can stop the imperial army from crossing over during this ti.”

Gratitude and relief appeared in Chen Bitong’s eyes. “I’ll defend the place until my last breath, Captain Chen. Go carry out your duty.”

Chen Chuan said nothing else and left with the Frost King Saber in hand. After around twenty steps, the smoke, dust, and light faded away, and he arrived outside the gap.

It had stopped raining, but the sky was still red. Powerful gusts of wind blew out from behind him and rushed into the empty, spacious square ahead.

Fang Zhixin and Yu Lie were both waiting outside.

When Chen Chuan walked out alone, Yu Lie’s gaze turned complicated, as if he had sothing to say. As for Fang Zhixin, he was shocked. He took a few steps forward and asked, “Captain Chen, is Instructor Chen...”

“You should know what sort of choice he would make,” Chen Chuan replied.

Fang Zhixin’s heart trembled, and he did not ask anything else.

Chen Chuan left the square and went to the car that brought him here to grab a briefcase from the trunk. Then, he returned to the gap.

After waiting for so ti, the lamp on the briefcase lit up, and he went inside.

This ti, he didn’t go to the plane connected to the rged space. Instead, he successfully entered a space that was similar to the one he went into after he defeated Chang Kuanghai. When he looked around, everything around him was dim.

The lamp shone even brighter.

Chen Chuan shook the briefcase a bit and located the propagated offspring based on the changes of the light. Half a minute after he started, he found his target.

It was a little different from the previous propagated offspring. It was letting out a dim light.

Chen Chuan did not know the reason, but could it be because it was connected to the pure essence?

After putting down the briefcase, Chen Chuan walked over with the Frost King Saber and stared at it for a while, then he swung his saber at it.

The mont his saber touched the propagated offspring, a bright light exploded from the contact area. The slumbering Frost King Saber started trembling, and the white fog drifted out. Just like before, it enveloped the propagated offspring he cut.

A few breaths later, the white fog faded away, and the shriveled propagated offspring fell on the ground.

Chen Chuan took one look at it, then at the recovered Frost King Saber, and put it back in its sheath. Then, he took out the corrosive liquid from the briefcase and poured it on the propagated offspring. Soon, it lted into nothing.

ssages were being passed around every corner of the command center. Many of the liaison officers were extrely stressed. After the Fu-Mu Entity began its sixth wave of propagation, the situation beca even more complicated and difficult to keep under control.

“Propagated offspring’s signals in Roaring Victory District have disappeared. The propagated offspring has been confird to have been disposed of,” Sentry Tower said.

Liang Guanghai whipped his head up and gripped the railing in front of him tightly as he asked sternly, “Are you sure?”

“The signal has disappeared. The propagated offspring has been confird to have been disposed of.”

The liaison officers exchanged glances before soft cheers rose from various corners.

The frown on Liang Guanghai’s face eased a little.

Multiple complications had occurred during the sixth propagation, and it seed like the seventh wave might start ahead of ti too.

Suffice to say, Liang Guanghai was under imnse pressure.

Up to this point, the existence hadn’t shown itself, and the longer it waited, the likelier it was that it would show up during the most critical mont to cause major trouble. If the existence showed up before they could close the other gaps, the problem they were going to have on their hands would be catastrophic.

He hadn’t expected Chen Chuan to actually be able to conquer their biggest problem—Chen Bitong. This ant that they could send more manpower to other places.

Later, he would have to make sure that Chen Chuan got credited for his great service.

A liaison officer then reminded him, “Sir, while the propagated offspring there has been destroyed, the gap remains, and it’s huge. The imperial army has also shown up there.

“If the royal family won’t give up, that place might just beco a weak link in our defenses. Captain Chen has just fought against Chen Bitong. He might not have much stamina left. I’m worried that he won’t be able to stop the imperial army.”

Liang Guanghai considered it. “Have the two response units we sent to Deep End District returned?”

“They’re on their way back.”

“Send them to Roaring Victory District,” Liang Guanghai ordered.

They were short on people everywhere, so he could only send regular response units, but after so thinking, he decided that this was not enough. “Tell Captain Chen to please stay and fight there for a little longer.”

After a brief pause, he continued, “And send him more recovery dicine.”

“But Captain Chen should have already taken so. If he consus more, it might hurt his body,” the assistant pointed out.

“Tell him the side effects, but say not to worry about them. I’ll think of a way to compensate him. I just wish for him to stay there for now,” Liang Guanghai said.

“I’ll make the arrangents,” the assistant acquiesced.

“Sentry Tower, give a status report of the propagated offspring,” Liang Guanghai ordered.

Sentry Tower imdiately compiled a propagated offspring disposal status report in the various districts. Even though they had been hunting them down, four still went missing.

Liang Guanghai kept his eyes fixed on the screen. Even though the propagated offspring’s domains were blocked, it was impossible for whoever stole them to have transported them out of the city within such a short ti. This ant that the thieves were either hidden sowhere or had plans to transport them out through safe channels.

If they were just hiding, that would make things easy. They could be ignored for the ti being, since there were ways to track down the propagated offspring, but transporting them out of the city was absolutely not allowed.

The entire city was under lockdown. If a transport team wanted to leave, it would inevitably alert soone. This ant that the thieves only had one other way left.

Liang Guanghai looked at the area under Central City’s image. It had a complicated, dense network of tunnels.

The only out was via the lower city district.

The municipal governnt’s control over that place was weak, so it was the best place to hide and transfer items.

Even though the Departnt of Administrative Affairs had stationed interception units at each tunnel, they couldn’t guarantee everything going smoothly. After all, not only had the people in the lower city district created so secret tunnels over the years, sothing might go wrong with the interception units too.

Hence, the Departnt of Administrative Affairs had another plan—hiring so agents in the lower city district to intercept the thieves.

These agents had close ties with the lower city district gangs, main organizations, and rcenaries. In so cases, they even had more authority than the Departnt of Administrative Affairs. If they took their tasks seriously, they might just be able to intercept the thieves. However, they also had close ties with various companies, so there was no telling just which side they would choose in the end.

Liang Guanghai didn’t trust them, but he was just a special officer the higher-ups sent to the city. Aside from leading the World Ring Defense System, he had no place to interfere with the administrative affairs in Central City. Besides, they were short on people, and the only thing Liang Guanghai could do was to increase the intensity of the lockdown.

Fortunately, after the modifications, the Fu-Mu Entity’s propagated offspring would only appear on the surface. Otherwise, things would be even more complicated.

Che Gaoyi, the newest executive of United Might’s branch company in Jibei Road’s Central City, was listening to the reports from the passive biosentient entities. Just as he expected, two companies had hired them to transport propagated offspring.

The clients wished to transfer them out of Jibei Road and send them to a designated area. They promised that as long as United Might delivered the goods, they would not only pay them for their service, but also pay a compensation fee and extra on top of that for their damaged reputation.

But Central City was under lockdown. It was practically impossible to force one’s way out now.

Hence, they had to pick another route.

United Might had once rged with a company called Golden Reins, which was the backer of a lower city district gang called the Iron Fist Gang. This gang had close ties with a logistics company called Clear Road Transport. Its mbers had secured part of the lower city district’s operating channels and manpower. They had done it for this very day.

After listening to the report, Che Gaoyi took in all the information. It was clear that the Departnt of Administrative Affairs and the World Ring Defense System didn’t have the manpower to stop them right now, so their chances of success were astronomically high. “Summon the transport team. We’re heading out. I’ll personally take the goods through the western route.”

Due to a lack of manpower on their own end, Che Gaoyi had to do it himself.

He went downstairs. Once he got into an armored vehicle, the motorcade left, and Che Gaoyi looked up at the sky. There was an airship there.

Since the domain covering the city was gone, they were relying on airships to transfer information around. The mont they intercepted one of their signals and went into secluded streets, their motorcade would be undetected for a short period of ti, and once they made it into the lower city district, no one could stop them anymore.

After Chen Chuan got rid of the propagated offspring, he walked out of the gap.

He first removed his hat, dusted off the ash on it, put it back on, and went back inside with his saber.

Once the propagated offspring was gone, only one path remained inside the gap, and it led to the rged space.

Deep inside it, Chen Bitong was standing with spears on the ground. It had only been a while since Chen Chuan last saw him, and there were already all sorts of grotesque corpses and carcasses around him.

Chen Bitong turned around when he heard footsteps. He was surprised to see him. “Why are you back, Captain Chen?”

Chen Chuan moved to stand beside him. As he felt the powerful wind blowing at him, he stared at the gap and said, “I’m a squad captain, Instructor Chen. Defending the place is also my duty.”
