"What's wrong, Uncle Zhao? Why did we suddenly stop?" Pulling his gaze back, Tang Xiaoquan looked at Zhao Yunhai with a puzzled expression, but the latter silently shook his head and pointed ahead.

Following the direction of Old Zhao's finger, Tang Xiaoquan noticed the taillights of the car in front were blinking continuously, indicating a situation ahead.

Considering his recent observations, a bad premonition surfaced in Tang Xiaoquan's mind.

Seeing the unease in the young man, Zhao Yunhai quickly pulled the handbrake and whispered, "What is it, Xiao Tang? Did you notice sothing too?"

Nodding his head, although unsure if his findings matched those of the car in front, Tang Xiaoquan was certain that sothing was unusual about this place.

Old Zhao instinctively leaned out to look at the car in front but couldn't fully see due to limited visibility. After Tang Xiaoquan finished speaking, he naturally shifted his focus to him.

"Oh? Really? What did you notice?"

With a slight raise of his finger, Tang Xiaoquan pointed to the ground by the street and said plainly, "Do you see those dead bodies?"

"Yes, aren't they just so dead zombies? What's wrong with that?" Before Old Zhao could respond, Wen Quanxin, seated in the back, pressed his face against the window and replied first.

Indeed, there's nothing unusual about zombies being killed, but the issue here was the number of them. According to Tang Xiaoquan's rough estimate, just on this corner, there were at least a dozen or more corpses.

A dozen or more! What does that an? Having survived multiple encounters with zombies, Tang Xiaoquan knew the difficulty involved.

He was certain that such an impressive feat couldn't be accomplished by one person alone. In other words, this street must have witnessed a battle between a survivor team and zombies.

But whether these survivors were dead or alive in the end, no one knew.

As Tang Xiaoquan pondered the questions from Wen Quanxin, Zhao Yunhai suddenly raised his voice urgently, "Hey, hey, hey, look! Hu Xiaodong got out of the car!"

Those words instantly heightened the tension inside the car. Acheng was the first to express his concern, "Could it be a car problem?"

Though reluctant to admit, there was a high chance that Acheng's worry might co true.

After all, the old Santana in front had seen better days, and according to Wang Junfa, it was the first car he bought after his success, already over ten years old.

Additionally, it had been through the ordeal of being dismantled recently, so it's reasonable for it to "act up."

But of all places to break down, it had to happen in this sowhat eerie location, which was rather...

No! For safety's sake, it's better to abandon the car than risk it here!

Weighing the pros and cons, Tang Xiaoquan made no hesitation and got out of the car. As his feet touched the ground, he heard Hu Xiaodong's voice from ahead, "Miss, are you okay? Are you hurt?"

Miss? He paused for two seconds, still not quite out of the "Santana break down" theory.

Yet in a mont, he realized and quickly walked over.

In his eyes, a young woman with dyed blonde hair was lying on the ground. From her attire and appearance, she looked no older than twenty.

The woman seed quite in pain, her twisted face suggesting she had fallen sowhere.

Frowning, Tang Xiaoquan wasn't too concerned about her injuries, as sowhere deep down, sothing felt off, but he couldn't pinpoint what precisely.

He just felt that a fashionably dressed woman in a belly shirt and heavy makeup shouldn't be at this place.

Rember, there were nearly twenty dead zombies here.

If you said there was no connection between the woman and these corpses, Tang Xiaoquan simply wouldn't believe such a coincidence even if you beat him to death.

But what was the connection? Tang Xiaoquan had no idea.

It seed there was only one way to find answers.

With this thought in mind, Tang Xiaoquan slowly stepped forward. But before he could speak, a dark gun barrel rested on his skull, "Nobody move!"

He froze. The woman's sudden action took Tang Xiaoquan by complete surprise; he had thought of many possibilities, but never this outco.

Staring at the cold barrel in front of him, Tang Xiaoquan's half-opened mouth quivered slightly. He tried to maintain his composure, but his trembling limbs felt disconnected, as if his soul had left him.

Many cannot imagine the feeling of being held at gunpoint; it's quite different from facing zombies.

Because when facing zombies, though terrified, you still have the power to fight back.

But with a gun against your forehead, all that's left is waiting for death.

At least for Tang Xiaoquan now, he didn't believe he had the ability to disarm the gun from the opponent, even if the holder was a woman.

"Hey! Miss, what do you an? We just wanted to ask about your injury, no harm intended. Please put the gun down!" Hu Xiaodong spoke while stepping forward to grab the gun, but before he could make a move, the door of the white armored vehicle beside him swung open, and four people rushed out.

"Hmph! If I were you, I'd follow her words and stay still. Of course, if you don't mind having extra holes in you and your buddies, you could give it a try!!"

Hu Xiaodong couldn't see the faces of the people behind him, for right now sothing hard jabbed his waist — undoubtedly another riot gun.

These people were likely forr armored car guards or had robbed from them, becoming bandits.

Now that things had developed to this point, Hu Xiaodong knew that they couldn't fight back. Forget hidden accomplices, just those two riot guns were enough to render them all powerless.

So...

"Gentlen, we ant no harm to the lady. We rely got out to help. If there's any offense, we seek your pardon. After all, we are all survivors, and there's no major grudges among us, right?"

Though he knew saying this was talking to a brick wall, at this mont, Hu Xiaodong could only hope that they would let them go on the principle of "shared humanity."

However, reality loves drama. Almost imdiately after Hu Xiaodong finished speaking, a sowhat sly voice sounded:

"Hu Xiaodong! Do you think there are grudges between us?"
