The valley stretched endlessly beneath the sky, a forgotten wonder hidden between verdant greeneries. Cliffs wrapped around the land in silence, peaks veiled by drifting clouds that flowed under the warm embrace of the sun.
The ray spilled across the vast place, painting the world in radiant light that made the valley appear dreamlike.
In the middle of it, a gigantic corpse of a beast lay across the grassy ground. Blood and gore spilled along the waves of leaves, rustling along with the gust of wind around it.
Across the corpse stood Desther, looking down at the monster he just killed. His hoodie and pants were once again painted with bits of red, sothing he had accepted as a natural occurrence during a battle of such intensity.
The plan of getting a self-cleaning hoodie had crossed his mind, but such a thing had to wait after the school activity ended. Where to buy it, though, was a thing that needed to be pondered.
As he looked at the kill notification, Desther habitually used Sense to scan his surroundings. A habit he decided to practice, lessening the chance of him getting ambushed, especially in an unfamiliar environnt such as this.
The sense acts as a pulsing wave that detects enemies or entities, with him acting as the epicenter. Each activation cost mana, and each activation would last a minimum of twenty seconds.
If not for such restriction, Desther would have made the skill into a passive with his imnse mana pool caused by his imnse Intelligence and Wisdom attributes.
The mont he activated his skill, Desther imdiately felt the shift of the surroundings.
The atmosphere turned heavy as cold air blew toward him despite the sun hanging above him. The familiar sensation struck him, allowing him to recall at that instant, even before the Sense could detect it, that the shadow encountered by him and Lexie was here.
The pulse of the Sense rippled outward like a divine wave, revealing everything around him in circular motion.
It was then that he finally saw the elusive shadow that he encountered twice before.
Amidst the darkness inside his Sense, it appeared to be a raging fire by how huge its light was, indicating the strength and the level it possessed.
A grin surfaced on his face; his initial assumption was proven to be correct.
In truth, there was a reason why he decided to confront the Crimson Tyrant and deliberately fought with it that way, creating intense and chaotic commotion that could rattle the surroundings.
Lexie has been ambushed around this place by the shadow creature after finishing an intense battle.
He had planned to recreate that scenario and hoped for the monster to take the bait.
For that, he did not kill the Crimson Tyrant quickly even though he was capable of doing so with his Magic Bullet.
His idea was pretty simple and pretty straightforward, yet it was proven to be convincing and effective.
The monster took the bait and ambushed after he finished killing the Crimson Tyrant.
Desther’s instinct flared up as a Theft Mark was casually cast toward the shadow monster.
Even out of sight, the experint he did earlier had proven his previous theory and idea to be effective.
He could indeed cast the Theft Mark in combination with his Sense skill.
[ Target Marked ]
[ Theft Mark: Attribute Theft ]
[ Agility Attribute: 456 (30 Mins) ]
[ If Marked Target is eliminated: Free Attribute: 228 (Permanent) ]
[ Theft Mark: 8/10 ]
Two Theft Mark were consud at the sa ti. The stolen attribute and the Theft Mark consud confird his initial assumption that it was indeed either a peak Tier 2, or an early Tier 3 Monster.
The shadow monster leapt toward him at the sa mont he used Attribute Theft, its agility was suddenly cut in half, its overall strength now a notch lower compared to its normal values.
As Desther prepared to turn and deal with the shadow monster, the corner of his eye suddenly caught a swift figure made of lightning racing toward the monster at extre speed.
If not for the fact that his Sense skill was still active, catching a glimpse of the lightning figure might have even been impossible.
By the ti Desther reacted, the light had already arrived behind him, catching not only him off guard but also the shadow monster that tried to ambush him.
Violent cracks of lightning echoed in his ears. The lightning figure glowed with raging intensity, blocking the attack of the shadow monsters with what seed like a sword made entirely of waves of lightning.
The impact sent shockwaves around the area; the violent crackle of lightning striking an ethereal concept such as a shadow made the air tremble in violent excitent.
Lightning t shadow with a crackle of explosion, creating shockwaves that seed to rattle the air around them.
The lightning figure managed to block the shadow’s attack, yet it was at the cost of the lightning figure being blasted backward due to the sheer montum of the strike.
The lightning figure dimd at the mont of impact, revealing Lexie with a face contorted in pain.
Desther’s eyes went wide in surprise as he hurriedly turned around and caught her body in midair. He kicked his foot to the ground and glided along her montum, slowly absorbing the force she had sustained by blocking the Shadow Monster’s strike.
His foot skidded on the ground before ultimately stopping dozens of ters away.
Lexie spit a mouthful of blood as she endured the searing pain. Her wounded back was agitated; blood leaked out of the new bandage as the wound that had begun to heal seed to have reopened due to the impact of the strike she successfully blocked.
Holding her in his arms, Desther could not help but frown upon seeing her situation.
Her arms automatically wrapped around his waist, as if searching for support while her knees wobbled weakly, her body threatening to fall to the ground.
Desthe gently lowered her to the ground, allowing her to lean on the nearest tree for support.
A sigh escaped his lips as he shook his head. "You did not have to do that."
