But the next mont, sothing went wrong.
The first few purple chs exploded just fine, violent blasts tearing through the tal and sending tremors through the fortress. But instead of creating a void hole like last ti, the tallic walls around them pulsed. Glowed. And then absorbed the explosions.
Damon’s eyes widened. "Shit."
It was adapting.
He should have known. His opponent was not stupid. They were not going to fall for the sa trick twice. "Fuck. Let’s go. Let’s get out of here one way or the other." Damon signalled for the group to follow him as he started heading further down the hall.
Their escape from this place was looking increasingly bleak. The more Damon thought about it, their only option out of this place should be by using sothing they found here. They had already found a lot of rare materials and weird items. Wouldn’t one such room contain explosives or so shit?
Damon’s mind was running on fus and instinct now. He turned a sharp corner and burst through another lab door. He ransacked it from top to bottom while others kept the golems at bay.
"Blood Reign, co on. Is there anything I can use? Can you sense anything at all?"
Blood Reign did not give any response. Damon did not dare. He was sure of it. One of these rooms had to contain sothing useful. He started ransacking one lab after another. There was a plan mutation lab, there was a chanical limb lab, and there was even an artificial mana core lab.
There were all sorts of things in the laboratories, but he still couldn’t get his hands on any explosives. Things continued in this way when the group coincidentally arrived at the sa spot they had started. It looked like the whole damn thing was circular in shape.
Then ca the obvious question. What was there at the center?
Damon was pretty sure the answer to their problem lay at the center of it all. If the long corridor ford the outer boundary, the shorter corridor and the labs ford the inner boundary, then what was at the center?
The only way to know the answer was to try and breakthrough the damn wall. Damon used so purple bots to break the inner wall in the sa way, but once again, sothing unexpected happened.
The inner wall completely refused to budge.
This ti, instead of denting or lting or cracking under the explosion, the inner wall reflected the energy. A shimring hexagonal pattern flared across its surface, like a rippling shield. Damon was blown back several ters, skidding across the floor as the explosion that should have cracked the fortress barely even left a scorch mark.
"I understand the outer wall being strong. This thing doesn’t want a breach, but the inner wall is even stronger. So sothing important is present inside the wall!"
Damon’s eyes glead. He was strong enough to break through one wall with sheer force, he should be able to do the sa again. He was not going to give up here.
Damon started maniacally hitting the wall in the sa spot all over again and again. Everyone stared in shock as he relentlessly attacked the wall without holding back anything. He had absolutely no restraints as he managed to dig out one powerful attack after another.
Unfortunately, nothing happened. Seconds turned to minutes, and soon minutes turned to hours. Damon was now completely ragged. Everyone else looked equally miserable.
"Just stop. Just stop. Can’t you see? There is no way out of here! You should never have co back in here!" ira wailed. "At least if you were outside, you could have sohow helped us. Now see what you did! You ssed up everything! There is no way we are going to get out of here."
"You! Shut the hell up! What do you know about him?" Kate did not remain silent any longer and shot back. However, Damon signaled her not to engage. ria, just like all of them, was in no state of mind to think clearly. There was no point in arguing here about anything.
When they had broken through the first wall, they had been at their best, but now all of the resources had been depleted. There was simply no way. Damon let out a sigh as he tiredly slumped.
He still had one weapon left in his arsenal, but he did not want to use it just yet. However, the condition looked utterly hopeless. He truly might have to cut his loses and do the damn thing here.
He might have to form a mana core.
Damon closed his eyes as he started ditating and sucking in the mana from the surroundings. The mana concentration here was less, but it was enough.
His body, his blood, everything was empty and devoid of any energy, all sucked dry by his efforts. So the mont he started ditating, his body started greedily sucking in the mana.
Damon continued calmly, collecting and gathering as much mana as he could. When he struck again, he would make it count.
However, two minutes in, he noticed sothing weird. Damon felt mana seep in from the ground as well. This was when a ridiculous thought popped into his mind. What if this damned place had more than one levels? Was there a ground floor and a first floor to this place?
Damon’s eyes lit up. The outer wall was unbreakable. The inner wall was unbreakable. So what about the bottom and top walls? Were they equally strong?
He continued ditating, and when the hour ended, a crimson lance appeared in his hand. He signaled Mark, and simultaneously, the two of them struck the very ground underneath them. Aurora also joined in on the attack, providing considerable buffs to both of them.
The next mont, the floor underneath them shook, and unlike the other walls, this one actually started cracking and tearing apart, soon revealing a hole with just ten consecutive strikes.
Right at this mont, Blood Reign also chid in. "Damon, I sense sothing. Sothing very powerful. Sothing extrely unstable. I think your chance is here."
Damon nodded, further invigorated by Blood Reign’s words. "Let’s go! It’s ti to raid so more labs and get the fuck out of here!"
