"Stop being a baby and toughen up," Pri said frustratedly.
"Weren’t you the one that arrogantly attracted four beasts to fight at the sa ti earlier today, now why are you acting like a frightened cat?" he insulted.
His words hit Laden directly, giving a bit of a confidence boost as he approached where he heard the voice coming from.
When he got there, he noticed a bush that was currently covered in beautiful red fruits, but he didn’t pay attention to that; instead, he was focused on the pair of eyes behind them.
A pair of slightly glowing green eyes was staring straight at Laden from the other side of the bush.
"Laden," the raspy voice called out again from where Laden was looking directly at.
Confusion finally overrides Laden’s face as he thinks about what just happened.
"Though raspy and deep, that voice feels familiar," Laden thought.
"Green Eyes, familiar Voice. Calebb!" Laden suddenly called out.
"Yes," the raspy voice responded.
After confirming his thoughts, Laden rushed towards the point where he saw Caleb lying on the ground mostly unable to move and weird reddish bumps all over his body.
"What the hell, Caleb, how did you get yourself like this?" Laden asked worriedly.
He had no idea if he should get closer or maintain his position, as a doctor previously, Laden knew how dangerous it was to wantonly approach soone with an unknown condition.
"Uhmmm, I... I...," Caleb said in a still raspy voice.
"I saw these fruits while I was out looking for you and decided to try them; I didn’t know they would do this to ," he managed to say.
Hearing Caleb’s words, Laden didn’t know if he should cry or laugh or even get annoyed at those words.
"How can soone do sothing like that?" he forcefully let out.
"Uhmmm, don’t worry; this isn’t the first ti. That’s how I know the function and attributes of many plants," Caleb responded.
At this point, Laden was truly short of words. His brain found it difficult to even make up words that would fit in such a situation.
"I should be fine soon; I already used my ability," he said While laughing.
Hearing that Caleb would be fine soon, Laden moved to the left and just went to sit quietly, having nothing else to say to his friend.
Just two trees behind where he was currently sitting, an unconscious horned figure was lying there.
A few minutes earlier, a figure with two curved horns on his head was silently weaving through the forest with his eyes locked on a particular fairly distant target.
But when he got to a certain point, he stopped as he felt so danger in his surroundings.
"What was that?" he wondered for a bit before deciding to continue moving, but he noticed he was incapable of moving a single muscle.
At that instant he then felt a presence behind him. Forcing his neck to turn, he finally saw sothing he had never expected—a pair of glowing green eyes.
That was the last thing he saw before everything was completely blacked out.
Current ti, Laden sat with his back leaning on a tree for about ten minutes when he suddenly heard giant footsteps behind him.
"Laden," he heard Caleb say with his normal soft voice.
"Ohhhh, you are back to normal," Laden said with a slightly shocked face.
"Haaa yes, the longest sothing like that has lasted was just an hour," Caleb responded with a smile.
Caleb’s words made Laden realize that this wasn’t Laden’s first ti doing sothing like that; in fact, he does sothing like that almost every ti, making him even more speechless.
"Are you okay?" he managed to say.
"Yes, yes, I am totally fine, and on the bright side, I even learned the function of a new type of plant," Caleb said with unusual excitent.
"I will be naming it the Voice-changing, Paralysis-inducing, pox-causing flower," Caleb said proudly.
Hearing the plant na, Laden opened his mouth to speak, but he held himself back and just shook his head.
"You know what, let’s just go," Laden said while standing abruptly.
"Haaaa," he suddenly cried out in pain as he felt the slightly closed wounds on his chest open up again.
"Haaaa, you are injured; let heal you," Caleb shouted while Summoning his spirit.
Leaf grew from behind his ears, and his skin changed color even further, making him appear darker and slightly rough.
A ball of green energy slowly coalesced in his hands as he pointed them towards Laden.
"Steady yourself," Caleb said, making Laden try his best to plant his foot into the ground as best he could.
Baammm!!
The green ball of energy flew out and collided with Laden, sending him flying backwards.
"Bastard," Laden cursed after composing himself again. He could feel the wound on his chest closing up slowly.
"It really is a powerful healing ability," Laden said with a shocked face.
The two of them waited until Laden felt like he was mostly fine before deciding to leave that place to return to their previous settlent, leaving the unconscious horned body behind.
By the ti they actually arrived at their settlent, the sun had completely set and was now replaced with the large silvery moon.
"Caleb, I will be needing your help tonight," Laden said in a low voice.
"Ohhh really? With what," Caleb asked.
"I am extrely exhausted, so I will be going to sleep now, so I need your help to watch over while I sleep, and then when I feel refreshed, I will do the sa for you," Laden continued.
Instead of responding imdiately, Caleb remained quiet in his spot for a bit, just staring straight at Laden.
"Ohhhh, there’s no need to ask for help then; it’s what we are supposed to do," he finally responded, breaking the silence.
Laden wanted to ask why he went quiet for such a long ti, but he remained quiet and just went to rest on a log.
"I will be going to sleep now; wake up if anything happens," Laden said, but in his mind he was saying sothing else entirely.
"Pri, it’s ti to head back to the Spirit World."
