Chapter Hundred Forty-Four - Scorch It!

'Fuck. He blinded .'

Killian rubbed the back of his hands to his eyes. He cursed when there was no change after opening his eyes.

'That low-level light skill is only supposed to affect them! Yet as a Void User, it will always affect .'

That also ant there was a good chance that his Void would have affected Lu if he used it in his presence.

Killian dropped the Bat in his hands, and put on his headphones. He contemplated if he should bring Thistle to beco his eyes. She must be bored.

'But I don't know the elents of these attackers.'

He needed to know his chances, and then hers. That was the way they always fought together. There were three enemies, and that could prove difficult for just one her.

Killian forced himself to his feet, still seeing nothing. He spread his tendrils away from him, covering his imdiate surroundings.

He felt their movent and the subtle coolness when they touched the walls, and the sudden warmth when they were under the sun.

Killian breathed in and out, calming his nerves, and concentrating on his hearing senses.

'No footsteps.'

"Status."

[Na: Grim Warden] [Rank: C Lower]

[Elent: Void] [Affinity: 89%] [Skills: (6)]

[Capacity: 500%]

[Elent: Fire] [Affinity: 89%] [Skills: (2)]

[Elent: Corrupted Fire] [Affinity: 100%] [Skills: (1)]

[Objective: Unstable. Sync Failed]

[WCoins: W16000] [Missions: (2)]

[Verdict: Stable] [Potential: Great]

[Remark: Chaotic Good (Anomaly)]

Killian nodded, staring at the blue screen.

He had called his status mostly to confirm that he could see that, and the stats hadn't gone down.

"Now…" he pulled his phone from his pockets, and switched on the Bluetooth reflexively from mory. "I just have to survive until my eyes get back…."

He heard their footsteps just after the tendrils sent the vibrations back to him.

Killian scoffed, retracting his tendrils into his body. For a low-level light skill, it took them a while to get up even when they weren't averse to Light like he was. That spoke volus about their power level.

"I wouldn't expect the angels to send lower than B-Rank Elent Users after ." Killian raised his voice as they got closer.

"Are you the sacrificial lambs?"

He heard one of them step forward from the others.

He knew she was the one, and her weapon, an axe with extended handle made him worry more about his vision.

"You think too highly about yourself." Her voice was quieter and less taunting than the last ti.

"I got marked by angels less than a month after awakening." Killian brought his Void-Bat in front of him. "I should feel a little bit of arrogance, no?"

He felt for the walls at his side and confird he was still within the hallway Lu had dragged him into.

The mont he heard their footsteps coming towards him… he initiated his first skill.

Mana swelled up to his body, rushing towards his head and his eyes. As if trying to recover the part of him stolen by the light.

The outcasts paused as if they sensed it.

Large tendrils rose like limbs, reaching for the ceiling. They stretched and expanded through the space within the hallway, creating distance between the outcast and Killian.

He clasped his hand together.

In the temporary confusion, while Shadow Barrage obstructed their view, he released a straight stream of flas coursing to the outcasts.

STAB!

He heard it lodge into its victim, and then a groan before the breaking in the walls.

Killian leaned on the door behind him, listening in. "I got one. didn't I?" He turned to the Shadow Barrage and the tendrils stopped expanding.

They halted their growth, fixed in a spot like limbs of a spider protecting its young under it. Killian wrapped his hands with tendrils' and buried his face into his hands.

It burned as the tendrils absorbed the light that had filtered into his eyes. He raised his head and fluttered his eyes open.

He saw his tendrils' in front of him, and a wide smile grew on his face. "That actually worked."

'If I can heal myself from the Light with the Void, then the Light wouldn't have to be an adversary, yes?'

"It's not always that simple. This was a low-level skill."

Killian sighed, jumping to his feet. "That's right."

He looked up at the ceiling. Two of the outcasts had truly used the roof. "But I have an advantage now."

"You always do. You have here."

Killian shook his head at the Void's bragging. He walked through the tendrils, and they made way for him. He found the victim of his Piercing Scorch.

The outcast wasn't dead yet, and his body still jolted as he spat out more blood. His eyes were wide open, and they soon found Killian.

His lips parted, and his expression looked like a silent plea forming in the blood bubbling at his throat. His body still convulsed as the fire burned through him slowly.

Killian stooped down, and covered the outcast's eyes with his hands. He pressed his Void-Bat on his neck.

The outcast's body shivered with pain before it stopped moving.

Killian exhaled. "That's as quick a death I can give you." He withdrew his hand, and stared at the black mark on the corpse.

He smiled at his Void-Bat and sent it back to the inventory. With a thought, he initiated the Void Series.

Multiple dark tendrils curled around his body as he stepped forward. He returned to the training area.

"Are you guys hiding now? The least you can do is fight after setting up a Realmcraft, no?"

He waited for a response but got none. That made him wonder if he had sohow gotten both of them with his Piercing Scorch even if his aim wasn't good.

He turned back from how he ca. "I should find the edge of this—"

He paused, his eyes widening slowly.

The Shadow Barrage was gone.

A cold breeze blew past his hair as he rushed back to the building. He never dissolved the skill yet he couldn't find it anymore.

He tried to control it to reveal itself but the Void's skills worked with eye contact or awareness of its position. There was simply no sight of it.

"What is happening?"
