5th Zone, wilderness
Governor Martin was watching over the border. He was serious when he said the Governors would take turns to monitor the border.
This unsettling feeling never went away. He could feel sothing terrifying was hidden in the unexplored region.
He didn’t know what it was. It could be a Tier-9 Corrupted Beast or sothing above it.
...
anwhile,
The Darkshade Team was searching the wilderness. They were looking for the target near the frontlines. It was one of the areas where the target could be doing missions.
They didn’t think the target went deeper into the wilderness. No one in their sane mind would do that.
As ti passed, the mbers saw a few Beast Tars from the city. But they didn’t find any sign of the target.
This made the team widen their search. This ti, the person leading the team was an expert killer and a Tier-6 Beast Tar.
His na was Dominic. Dominic was the person who usually took on high-profile cases. His targets were all between Tier-5 and Tier-6 Beast Tars.
He had never thought there would be a day he would get a mission to kill a re Tier-3 Beast Tar.
Dominic, who was 6ft tall with broad shoulders, couldn’t help but feel bad about his own situation. Anyhow, he would take this mission as a small field trip.
...
Jeremy Night took so long to find another wild boar. This ti he found five in one place. They were moving forward as a group.
If not for his eye power, he would have continued to waste ti in the wilderness. He was glad that he had found a small group.
He had already hunted one. If he hunted the small group, then the count would beco six. He could then complete the mission faster.
Jeremy then started following the group. They were still well ahead of his shooting range. He was moving without making any noise.
He didn’t want the wild boars to split up and escape into different directions. He was following them quietly.
It didn’t take long for Jeremy Night to notice sothing amiss. The wild boars were going towards the border.
He raised his eyebrows in surprise.
"They could be going back to their hideout. This is how they survived the beast tide," he thought.
He beca intrigued. He thought the answer could be found if he followed them back to their hideout.
An amazing idea ca to his mind.
Jeremy thought that it was better to find their hideout first. If there were more wild boars in that hideout, he could catch them in one fell swoop.
The more he thought about it, the more he thought the plan was right. He continued to follow the group.
Post noon,
He reached the border. The small group of wild boars was still moving ahead, but Jeremy paused his footsteps.
He saw sothing with his eye power. His eyes filled with seriousness. He stood there like a frozen statue for a few seconds.
The land ahead was littered with corrupted beast corpses. They were not ordinary corpses; they were the corpses of higher-tier corrupted beasts.
Jeremy felt uneasiness from the corpses. He had faced Tier-6 Beasts before, so he knew the level of threat and coercion.
Right now, he thought these corpses had the aura of Tier-6 and above. As he began to look around, his gaze fell on soone standing in mid-air.
As his gaze paused, he was stunned and left speechless.
"Who is this person?" Jeremy asked himself.
He used his zoom-in vision. The appearance of the person beca clear. He recognized the face.
"Governor Martin," Jeremy thought.
He knew this person. He was one of the Governors in the city. He should have been at the admin building right now.
He was surprised and continued to look at the person. He didn’t know why the Governor had co here.
Since the place was littered with corpses, he quickly connected the dots. He thought that the Beast Tide might have occurred from here.
When this thought occurred, his heart stirred.
"Don’t tell the threat is not over yet," Jeremy thought. The re thought sent a cold shiver down his spine.
He forgot about the mission and stood there in shock.
On the other hand, Governor Martin sensed soone was looking at him. He turned around and located the source.
He saw a young man looking at him. His eyes filled with surprise. The shocking thing was that the young man was a Tier-3 Beast Tar.
"Who is this young man?" Martin thought.
Swoosh!
The next second, he disappeared from the spot and reappeared in front of the young man.
"Kid, who are you?" Martin asked.
Jeremy was taken aback. He didn’t expect the person to appear in front of him.
"Governor, my na is Jeremy Night. I’m from the Red Moon Chamber," Jeremy replied.
Martin’s eyes glead with a twinkle. He knew the Red Moon Chamber. Head Harold had fought against the Beast Tide as well.
He then collected his thoughts and asked, "What are you doing here?"
Jeremy then showed him his mission details. Martin saw that the Beast Taming Association had started giving easy missions for Beast Tars to return to the wilderness.
"We were expecting Tier-4 and Tier-5 Beast Tars to return first. Not a Tier-3," Martin said with a smile.
To that, Jeremy didn’t know what to say, so he remained silent.
Martin then thought of sothing and his expression turned serious.
"It’s good that you have taken a step to enter the wilderness. You have already passed the test. There is no need to continue with the mission."
"The place ahead is dangerous. I saw a few wild boars earlier. They could be attracted by the sll of corpse blood and flesh."
"So you should return to the city. If anyone disagrees, you can give them my na," Martin said in a serious tone.
Hearing that, Jeremy Night knew the situation was not right. He wanted to ask, but he controlled his impulse. It was not his place to ask.
So he nodded to Governor Martin before making the return journey.
"Interesting," Martin muttered.
He noticed how the young man was calm and composed despite facing a Tier-8 Beast Tar.
He thought the Red Moon Chamber had found a good seed.
Jeremy quickly left the border area. He was going back to the inner part of the wilderness. He couldn’t believe he had t Governor Martin.
anwhile, the rest of the organisations were planning to send the Beast Tars back to the wilderness.
One of the Governors was watching the border. He had a bad feeling about this. He had lost interest in finding the wild boar.
He wanted to share this news with soone. Head Harold and Neil Moon ca to his mind.
Head Neil Moon went back to the 10th Zone, so he needed to tell Head Harold at least.
After gaining so clarity, he resud the journey. His journey was smooth and fast. He didn’t co across any corrupted beasts on the way.
Soon, he reached the inner area. The ti was already post-noon. He found a huge bedrock. The shadow of the stone provided good cover from the heat.
He went to the bedrock and sat underneath it.
Jeremy then took a bottle out and drank a mouthful of water. The water entered his throat and went to his stomach. He felt fresh and light.
Under the cold shadow of the stone rock, he leaned back and began to rest. But his eyes remained open.
He cald his heart and observed the surroundings. He saw green vegetation and dry fallen leaves and twigs.
He used his zoom-in vision on a whim. He saw small sand particles and stones. While he was using it, he ca across sothing surprising.
His eyes caught the Beast Tars walking through the forest. His eyes filled with surprise.
He further zood in his vision to see their uniforms. He saw a black cloth. The black cloth was familiar. How could he forget it?
His eyes turned icy cold. He was seeing none other than the killers of the Darkshade Organisation. He had eliminated the previous two groups.
Now he saw a third group. He didn’t know whether they were here for him or not, but anyway, he didn’t like them.
He stood up and decided to take cover and observe them. If he got closer to them, then their lifeline beasts would alert them.
He decided to observe them from afar.
On the other hand, Dominic and his n were looking for Jeremy Night. But they didn’t know their target was near them.
Jeremy was observing the Beast Tars. He was looking for their leader. If they were here for him, then their leader must be a Tier-6 Beast Tar.
Jeremy found that the Beast Tars were looking towards one person from ti to ti. He felt that person could be the important one.
He began to notice the person. The person had broad shoulders and a heavy build. He was keeping an eye on the other Beast Tars.
Jeremy’s eyes flickered with understanding. He had found the main enemy. He didn’t know whether these people were crazy or not.
Though the place was far away from the border area, Governor Martin could find them if he wanted. Jeremy knew about the Governor, but these people didn’t know.
