Evelyn s POV
Looking around, I find we are in what appears to be a little studio. The sll of incense hung strong in the air; beaded curtains covered a door leading sowhere. Tie-dyed bedspread and rugs, it is a very artsy looking room.
"What did you do?" I ask, wondering how we appeared from thin air from one place to another.
"We misted, or as you humans like to say, teleported," Amara says like it was no big deal. She walks over to a dresser, pulling so clothes out before handing them to . Taking the shirt off, I quickly pull the track pants on and singlet. Amara watching the entire ti I get changed, making feel self-conscious.
"You have lovely breasts," she comnts, making feel awkward.
"Thanks" I say, looking away from her and her awkward remark. "Where are we?"
"My parent s house. They turned the back room of the shed into a studio for ," she answers before sitting on her bed. I sit on the chair at the desk. "On the plus side, they won t leave you long, especially now they have marked you," Amara tells .
"What do you an?" I ask, curious.
"Now that they have marked you, you will go into heat. And to answer your next question, I brought you here hoping to lure my brother ho," she tells , which was my next question.
"So you can see the future?" I ask, and she nods before chewing her nail. "Can you see mine?" I ask and I watch her eyes glow brightly and it looks like she is looking straight through before looking away.
"The future isn t so easy to see. Things change. Decisions change. I get glimpses or soti mories like that burn on your back and how you got it. I don t like looking in the future because it can change its path, not sothing to be ddled with," she says, not adding anything further on the subject.
"So, your parents know I am here?" I ask and she shakes her head.
"No, but they will in 3... 2... 1..." The door suddenly opens, and a blonde woman walks in, one haven t seen before.
"Hey Aunty B."
"Amara?" she asks, her eyes darting to before she sniffs the air. "You didn t?" she says not even hiding her shock at being kidnapped.
"I did, and I regret nothing. It will work I have seen it," Amara tells her.
"And ends with whose funeral?" The woman asks.
"No ones. Evelyn, this is my aunty Bianca. She also stays here. Well, until she can t handle the noise inside the house."
I watch as Bianca sniffs the air. "She is marked Amara; he is going to go ballistic."
Amara shrugs. "He won t hurt , and I will kick his ass if he tries."
Bianca watches carefully, cocking her head to the side. "Your scent slls familiar for so reason; I just can t put my finger on it," she says walking over to before dipping her face in the crook of neck and sniffing .
"Hmm, odd," she says pulling back while I eye her like she is a nutter. Who walks up sniffing people?
"So why are you here in my studio?" Amara asks her.
"You really need to ask? They have been going at it like rabbits, and there are so things I really don t want to listen to my sister doing," Bianca says before shuddering. Amara snorts before laughing.
"Exactly why I live out here," she says, a silly grin on her face.
"Oops, sounds like they stopped. Let s go say hi," Bianca says, tugging my arm and pulling out the door which leads into a shed with so luxury cars.
Walking out, I see an enormous house with stone walls and massive veranda, paddocks, and gardens surrounded the entire property. Bianca pulls up so stairs before opening the door and singing out.
"Hope your decent; we have a guest," she says before pulling into a lounge room with a fireplace and lounges. I look around it was very holy with heaps of pictures on the walls. Walking over to one, I see Amara and Thaddeus when they were younger, playing in a puddle of water, drenched and wearing yellow raincoats and gumboots. They looked to be about 8 to 10-years-old. Hearing movent upstairs, I look up before Amara walks in the front door.
"Coffee?" she asks. I nod before following her and Bianca into a kitchen much like the one back ho. In fact, a lot was similar on the inside to what was at ho, making wonder if Thaddeus had designed it because he misses being ho. Sitting on a stool at the island bench, Amara makes coffee, setting 6 mugs out. Grabbing mine, I take a sip just as Imogen and two n walk in with a startling resemblance to Thaddeus. The n freeze, but Imogen walks over and hugs .
"Mum, gross. You were doing god knows what with my fathers, and now you co over and hug her, leaving your sex scent all over her? I have to share a room with her," Amara scolds her mother, making Imogen chuckle.
"Your brother is going to love knowing your sharing a room with his mate," Imogen tells her, making confused. I thought Thaddeus liked his sister.
"Evelyn, these two are my mates and Thaddeus fathers. Tobias and Theo or you can call them dad whichever you prefer."
"Hi," I say giving them a brief wave. They were both handso and looked to be the sa age as their son. I don t know how I am ever going to get used to people looking the sa age as Thaddeus yet refer to them as his parents. I did notice, though, Tobias didn t take his eyes off . Watching before cocking his head to the side.
"Does Thaddeus know she is here?" he asks, turning to his daughter.
"He will soon," she says, and his father pinches the bridge of his nose.
"Amara, you can t just kidnap people, especially since she is marked and unmated. Your brother is going to go on a rampage," He scolds her.
"I doubt it, he won t want to risk her getting hurt," Imogen tells him. I see his other father sniff the air before his mouth falls open.
"She is human," he states, looking at like I was the strangest thing he co across.
"Why does everyone keep saying that? You are aware half the earth is human, right?" I ask, making Imogen chuckle.
"Yes, dear we know that. Just you re probably the first human ever to be fated to a supernatural," she says, making confused.
"Is that a bad thing?" I ask.
"No, just ans Thaddeus has to be careful is all. He could easily kill you or hurt you. Not that I want to scare you," she answers, making regret asking.
’God, she slls familiar," Tobias says, making look at him as he walks over sitting on the stool next to . Now that he was closer, I could see burns going up his arm and over his chest.
"My burns gross you out?" he asks.
I shake my head. "No, I have my own," I tell him, flicking my hair over my shoulder and showing him. He smiles, realising we have sothing in common.
"Yeah, she killed soone. Not so innocent looking now, is she, dad?" Amara says making my mouth fall open. "Don t worry, he totally deserved it," she adds.
"Don t snoop into people s pasts, Amara. It is rude," Imogen tells her. Amara rolls her eyes at her mother, and mother s lips twitch before she presses them in a thin line, annoyed. Note to self: don t roll my eyes at his mother.
I notice Bianca staring at again strangely, like she was trying to figure sothing out. "Where are you from?" she asks curiously.
"What do you an? I am from the Parse City." She looks thoughtful a second.
"She slls familiar, I can t put my finger on it," says Bianca, and I see Tobias agree with her.
"So Amara, what is your grand sche?" Theo, Thaddeus s father, asks, eyeing worriedly.
"No sche. Mum wanted him ho, so I thought what better way than to kidnap his mate," she says cockily, walking over to and wrapping her arms over my shoulders like we are best buddies.
’Yeah, go on, Amara. You re really going to be pushing his buttons leaving your scent all over her," Bianca warns her, making confused.
"So, tell us a bit about yourself, Evelyn," Tobias says, his eyes darting to Bianca for a second, which I thought was odd. Like they were having a secret conversation.
"Not much to tell. I grew up all over Parse, worked at a café, then Thaddeus and Ryland stumbled across ," I answer, not wanting to share all my secrets.
"So you lived nowhere else?" Tobias asks.
"Nope, grew up in foster care, shipped from one house to another," I answer honestly without giving too many details away.
"Foster care? What happened to your parents?" Bianca asks, and I find everyone staring at like I just grew a second head.
"No idea, I was dropped at a church when I was a baby."
"A church?" she asks, her eyes going wide.
"Yep, an old nun convent just outside the city," I tell them, and Bianca shoots a look to Tobias. "Is sothing wrong?" I ask, wondering why they keep eyeing each other every ti I answer their questions.
"No, nothing, just curious," Bianca answers. I had a sneaking suspicion she was lying, though. Tobias gets up walking out a few minutes later so does Bianca. Theo and Imogen watch them go before Imogen turns to .
"Well, why don t you get cleaned up and get so sleep and we can all chat in the morning. That s if my son hasn t destroyed my house by then," she states, shooting Amara a death glare. Amara chuckles before grabbing my hand.
"You can sleep in my room, like a slumber party. But without the party," she tells , pulling into the lounge room.
I see Bianca and Tobias talking on the stairs. They stop, both looking at .
"Good night, Evelyn," Tobias says, and I see Imogen co out and eye them, giving them a look I couldn t decipher.
I follow Amara back to her little studio. "Your parents seem nice."
"They are. They worry too much, though. Worry Thaddeus will attack when he realises, I took you."
"And you re not worried?" I ask. She shakes her head.
"No, he knows I wouldn t let harm co to one of his mates," she says before pulling the door shut. She walks into her room before opening a door I didn t see before, which is a small bathroom. She hands a towel. "You can shower if you want. I will find you so pyjamas," she tells , and I walk in, turning the shower on and closing the door.
