When he arrived, it was already eleven-thirty.
It was so late that the Walyon Family had long gone to bed.
Adrian Walyon parked the car at the gate and strode toward the main house, pushing the closed door open with a bang.
He used considerable force, causing the heavy door to slam against the wall and then bounce back.
The loud noise woke up both Old Master Walyon and Diana Wood, who had already been asleep.
The two of them ca downstairs, one after the other.
Old Master Walyon stood on the stairs, looking at the dark-faced, furious Adrian who was about to go upstairs, and his own expression imdiately tightened.
"Where is she?" Adrian raised his face to look at him and asked coldly.
He said nothing upon returning, opening with this one line.
Old Master Walyon didn’t know for a mont what he was asking about.
However, this attitude...
"Is this how you talk to your own grandfather?" Old Master Walyon mocked with a stern face.
Adrian didn’t know whether Sumr Sutton was dead or alive; what attitude did he have to show anyone else?
"Was it Grandpa who had her taken away? Return her to , and I can pretend nothing happened tonight. If she gets even slightly hurt because of tonight, don’t bla for disowning everyone!" Adrian stepped onto a stair, standing one step away from the Old Master, and looked toward him with a sideways glance, issuing a cold warning.
Whenever Adrian talked with his grandfather, he never considered their familial bond, and tonight was no exception.
The veins on Old Master Walyon’s forehead were continuously throbbing.
He finally understood the words — Sumr Sutton was missing!
This kid was now ready to fall out with him for a woman!
Diana Wood, still standing from behind, seeing the Old Master’s expression change to one of distress, hurried downstairs, pushing Adrian back down.
"Adrian Walyon, what madness is this? Rushing ho in the middle of the night, waking up the entire family is one thing, but what kind of nonsensical things are you saying? How can you talk to Grandpa like that? He’s the one who raised you lovingly from a child!"
Afraid the grandfather-grandson pair might argue to the point of never speaking again, Diana tightly pressed down Adrian’s arms, persistently advising him.
"Where is she?" Adrian, disregarding everything else, bore down on the Old Master’s face with his gaze, angrily pressing for answers.
Old Master Walyon supported his forehead, looking as though he had been severely angered, his body shaking slightly as if about to collapse.
"Grandpa, you’re already at such an old age, why bicker with a young girl? What has Sumr done from the start to the end? Grandpa, don’t forget, it was you who arranged this marriage in the first place! Grandpa, as soone who values longstanding relationships, can honor a promise and uphold the agreent made with Grandpa Sutton back then, why can’t you, for Grandpa Sutton’s sake, be a little kinder to Sumr?"
"She ca into this family, whom did she harm? Just because Ryan Walyon has feelings for her and the brothers are at odds, so she’s made the scapegoat? Whether it was my leaving a year ago, or last night’s clash with Grandpa, the root cause was never her from beginning to end!"
"Seventy years old now, Grandpa, you see through everything else clearly, why can’t you see through this? The conflict between us has always been, from start to finish, because of you, Grandpa! It doesn’t relate to her at all!"
"If Grandpa, like when Sumr first ca in, didn’t interfere in any matters of the younger generation, none of this would have happened, and I wouldn’t have left a year ago! If Grandpa continues to ddle in matters between her and , I don’t care if I never speak to this family again!"
