Today’s phone call was initiated by Sophie, asking Diana to contact Sumr Sutton.
The relationship between Diana and Sumr Sutton has never been smooth; Diana is normally too proud to invite Sumr back ho, but today she has no choice.
When Sumr Sutton and Adrian Walyon entered the room, it was crowded around Sophie Walyon’s bed.
The family doctor and servants were all gathered.
Sophie sat leaning against the bed, her face flushed, brows tightly knit, and looked quite dispirited, appearing extrely ill.
The Doctor was taking his temperature, and the thermoter showed a temperature of 41.5 degrees.
This temperature is already very high; adults at this temperature could struggle, not to ntion a child under ten.
Sumr Sutton was shocked when she saw the temperature.
Such a severe fever, might this cost him half his life?
"What’s going on with Sophie?" Adrian Walyon stared at Sophie for a mont, then turned to ask Diana beside him.
"He was playing by the lake today, likely the ground was icy and slippery, he fell into the water, and after being rescued, he ended up like this." Diana explained.
Sophie leaned against the bed, muttering incoherently, "Am I going to die soon? My head hurts, I’m dizzy, am I dying? Where are my brother and sister-in-law?"
His eyelids were always droopy, speaking weakly.
Adrian and Sumr Sutton were standing right in the room, but he seed unaware and kept muttering to himself.
"My brother and sister-in-law haven’t been ho for a year, why’s this happening to a good family? Now it’s hard to even et them. Grandpa, why won’t you let my sister-in-law co back? Mom too, you’re so stubborn."
"Oh, I’m not going to make it, I’ll never see my sister-in-law and brother again. Boo hoo..."
"Is it night already? Why can’t I see anything?"
One sentence and Diana was frightened.
Diana hugged him tightly, calling him "baby, baby," crying her heart out.
Sumr Sutton watched silently by the bed, feeling initially sympathetic to Sophie Walyon when she saw the thermoter reading.
However, the more she listened, the more off it seed.
Why do the child’s words sound like a performance?
Even though a high fever is serious, it’s not an incurable illness, is it worth such despair?
To Sumr Sutton, Sophie’s acting was exaggerated and overdone.
Sumr Sutton studied him again and again.
Could this kid be faking illness to trick her and Adrian into coming back?
Sumr Sutton even doubted if the thermoter was accurate.
Sophie peeked over Diana’s shoulder and made eye contact with Sumr Sutton, looking a bit startled.
Then, under her watchful gaze, he rolled his eyes and continued his act in Diana’s arms.
"Oh, my head hurts, hurts...I want my sister-in-law to live here, I want to see her, it’s my last wish."
Even a last wish...
Sumr Sutton’s eyebrows twitched; she felt like rushing over to cover his mouth.
Little rascal, what are you talking about?
Sophie didn’t care and continued to make a scene in the room.
Diana couldn’t do anything, just kept comforting him, "Alright, alright, return ho, return ho, nothing will happen to you, be good, rest well."
Sophie seed satisfied, lying his head on Diana’s shoulder, sneaking a wink at Sumr Sutton.
Sumr Sutton stared wide-eyed.
He’s really pretending!
