Watt didn’t dodge or evade, and ended up embracing her fully.
Sumr Sutton’s body stiffened in his arms; her first reaction was the fear of pressing on his leg injury. Instinctively she tried to straighten up, but her waist was held tightly, refusing to let go.
Sumr froze for a mont, lifted her face, and looked at him with so surprise.
"Mr. Bennet, do you know what you’re doing right now?" she gently reminded him.
He shouldn’t have any initiative to be close to her if he wanted to deny being Adrian Walyon!
Watt simply looked at her calmly, with none of her words stirring any emotion in his eyes.
"You don’t like the type of Alexander Winslow," he calmly saw through her.
"How does Mr. Bennet know what I like?" She didn’t insist on pulling away from Watt and resigned herself to letting him hold her, "Besides, people’s preferences change over ti; nothing in this world remains the sa forever."
Watt’s hand fell on the bend of her arm, gripping it slightly tightly, "Don’t act on impulse."
"Is this all Mr. Bennet wants to say to ?" Sumr’s body stiffened, lifting her face to look at him with a slightly cold gaze.
"Sumr..." Watt’s gaze swept over her eyes, as if feeling a bit helpless.
Sumr wanted to hear him say sothing to her; in truth, he could guess what.
"My last na is Sutton, call Miss Sutton!" Sumr pried his hand from her arm and averted her gaze, "Since Mr. Bennet is not ’him’, you shouldn’t call so intimately."
Withdrawing from his embrace, she headed towards the guest hall without looking back.
She walked quickly, her back straight, never once turning her head.
Watt quietly stared in the direction she left, losing himself there for a long, long ti...
When he returned to the party, it was at its most lively.
The birthday celebrant, the Old Master of the Winslow Family, saw Sumr Sutton and jovially pulled her over.
His thinking wasn’t that of a traditional senior; Sumr Sutton had plainly stated that she was married, yet the Old Master didn’t seem to mind.
Isn’t her ex-husband gone?
Evidently, he liked Sumr Sutton very much; when Watt ca in, the Old Master was holding one of Sumr’s hands and one of Alexander’s, engaged in conversation.
Watt sat not far away, quietly watching the two of them for a while.
Actually, Watt never believed Sumr Sutton and Alexander Winslow could spark anything.
He was never in doubt about who Sumr Sutton held in her heart.
As for Alexander, Watt knew his attitude towards Sumr Sutton; Watt felt he wouldn’t compete with a friend.
Seeing the two together, Watt thought they ant to upset him.
But thinking of Sumr Sutton’s charm, Watt slowly grew a bit uncertain.
Even if Alexander initially had no feelings for Sumr, who knows if, with ti, he might change his mind?
Suddenly, Watt felt a sense of crisis.
...
Tonight, Sumr Sutton arrived at the scene a bit late.
Only, she didn’t expect that after her arrival, more guests would continuously co visiting.
Half an hour after Sumr Sutton arrived, the servant beside the Old Master suddenly whispered to him, "Old Master, the second uncle of the Walyon Family has co!"
The familiar address made Sumr freeze for a mont, glancing at Watt expressionlessly, then stiffly turned her gaze to the direction of the entrance.
Looking over, Bryce Walyon was just being led by the Winslow family’s butler towards the hall.
