The void dinsion felt wrong.
Not cold. Not hot. Just fundantally alien to everything human biology understood as real.
Rama’s corruption spiked the mont he crossed the threshold.
[CORRUPTION: 49% → 52% → 56%]
Seven percent in three seconds.
Behind him, his team erged through the tear—Sekar, Adi, Ratna, four S-Ranks, and thirteen Legion soldiers. Twenty people total.
All of them scread.
The void energy didn’t just touch them. It invaded. Crawled into cells, rewrote DNA, transford matter into sothing that shouldn’t exist in normal reality.
[SEKAR ADITYA - CORRUPTION: 0% → 15%]
[ADI KUSUMA - CORRUPTION: 0% → 12%]
[S-RANK PRAKASH - CORRUPTION: 0% → 23%]
[LEGION SOLDIER MARCO - CORRUPTION: 0% → 31%]
Three soldiers collapsed imdiately, their corruption jumping past forty percent in seconds. Their bodies twisted, bones cracking, skin blackening.
"Form defensive periter!" Rama ordered, his voice strange—layered, like speaking from multiple places at once. "Champions in center! Everyone activate maximum defenses NOW!"
They clustered together. Champion auras flared. S-Rank barriers manifested. Soldiers huddled close, pooling their protective skills.
The corruption slowed. But didn’t stop.
[CORRUPTION RATE: 2% PER MINUTE IN VOID DINSION]
Two percent per minute. At that rate, they had less than ten minutes before everyone transford.
"Where is it?" Sekar gasped, her temporary champion status flickering under void pressure. "Where’s the Guardian?"
Rama’s new Void Sense ability gave him the answer.
Everywhere.
The Threshold Guardian wasn’t in the void dinsion.
It WAS the void dinsion.
"Oh no," he whispered.
Reality inverted.
What had been empty void beca solid. What had been distance beca proximity. The Guardian manifested not as a creature but as the environnt itself.
Its voice resonated from all directions simultaneously.
"DINSIONAL ASSESSNT COMNCING."
"UNAUTHORIZED ENTITIES DETECTED."
"SYSTEM CHAMPIONS: 4."
"CORRUPTION LEVEL: INSUFFICIENT FOR VOID INTEGRATION."
"ELIMINATION PROTOCOL: ACTIVATED."
The void dinsion attacked.
Gravity reversed. Three soldiers flew upward, screaming, disappearing into the formless distance above. Gravity returned. They fell. Hit nothing. Kept falling into dinsional layers that shouldn’t exist.
[LEGION CASUALTIES: 3]
"Scatter!" Adi shouted. "Don’t cluster! It’s targeting groups!"
They dispersed—and imdiately the corruption accelerated.
[CORRUPTION RATE WITHOUT DEFENSIVE FORMATION: 5% PER MINUTE]
"Reform!" Rama countermanded. "We die faster separated!"
They regrouped. But the damage was done.
[SEKAR - CORRUPTION: 15% → 22%]
[ADI - CORRUPTION: 12% → 19%]
[S-RANK CHEN WEI - CORRUPTION: 23% → 34%]
The Guardian’s voice echoed again.
"RESISTANCE: FUTILE."
"VOID INTEGRATION: INEVITABLE."
"YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE CO HERE."
It manifested partially—a conceptual form that was shape and mathematics and wrongness given physical presence. Level 167 in normal reality.
Here, in its ho dinsion, it was sothing else entirely.
[THRESHOLD GUARDIAN - EFFECTIVE LEVEL: 250]
[HO DINSION ADVANTAGE: ABSOLUTE]
"Two hundred and fifty," Ratna whispered, her corruption at 27%. "We can’t fight that."
"We have to," Rama said. "Because if we don’t, it establishes a permanent gate on Earth."
He charged.
His Void-Touched nature gave him advantages here. His corruption—now at 58%—made him partially compatible with this realm. He could move faster, hit harder, exist in ways the others couldn’t.
He struck the Guardian’s manifestation.
The attack landed.
And did nothing.
"You are 58% void," the Guardian observed. "Insufficient. To harm here, you must be 80% minimum. You are too human."
It counterattacked.
Rama activated [Void Walk], phasing forty percent out of reality. The Guardian’s strike hit the sixty percent that remained solid.
[HP: 182 → 95]
Half his health. One attack. And he’d partially dodged it.
"Rama!" Sekar moved to help—
"Stay back! You’re weaker here!"
She was. Her champion status functioned at only thirty percent efficiency in the void dinsion. Her S-Rank power ant nothing against an entity that was the dinsion itself.
But she attacked anyway.
The Guardian noticed her like a human notices an insect. With mild interest and complete superiority.
It flicked one conceptual appendage.
Sekar flew backward, crashing through layers of non-existent space.
[SEKAR ADITYA - HP: 168 → 52]
[CORRUPTION: 22% → 29%]
"NO!" Rama scread.
Adi and Ratna rushed to help her. The S-Ranks coordinated attacks on the Guardian, trying to draw its attention.
All futile.
The Guardian was playing with them.
"ASSESSNT COMPLETE," it announced. "HUMANITY: INSUFFICIENT."
"EARTH DESIGNATION: INVASION-VIABLE."
"PERMANENT GATE ESTABLISHNT: AUTHORIZED."
"Like hell!" Rama roared.
He used [Reality Shift], bending space around himself, and attacked from seven angles simultaneously.
Each strike landed.
Each did minimal damage.
"You are too weak," the Guardian said. "Too human. Accept void integration. Beco 80% void. Then perhaps you could scratch ."
Rama’s corruption was at 61% now.
Nineteen percent from the threshold that would let him fight effectively.
But crossing that threshold ant losing most of his humanity.
Becoming more void than human.
Maybe permanently.
Another soldier transford completely. His corruption hit 90% and he beca a void creature, attacking his forr comrades.
Adi was forced to kill him.
[LEGION CASUALTIES: 6]
Half their soldiers gone.
"We’re losing," Ratna said, her corruption at 35%. "We can’t win. We should retreat."
"Retreat to where?" Rama demanded. "If we leave, it establishes the gate. Earth falls."
"If we stay, we all transform and die anyway!"
She was right.
The math was impossible.
To fight the Guardian effectively, Rama needed 80% corruption. But that would make him more void than human. He might never co back from that.
To survive, they needed to retreat. But that ant Earth’s extinction.
No good options.
Only terrible choices.
Rama looked at Sekar, wounded and corrupted. At Adi, fighting desperately. At the remaining soldiers, transforming slowly, dying by degrees.
At the Guardian, invincible in its own dinsion, preparing to doom Earth.
He made his choice.
"Everyone," he said quietly. "Retreat through the tear. Now."
"What about you?" Sekar demanded.
"I’m staying. I’m pushing to eighty percent. Fighting it properly."
"That’ll transform you!"
"Maybe. But it’s the only way." He looked at her, morizing her face. "Get everyone out. I’ll handle this."
"Rama—"
"Please, Sekar. I need to know you’re safe. That you survive. That soone lives to tell them what happened here."
Tears stread down her face. "You promised. No more secrets. We fight together."
"We did fight together. Now I need you to live. For both of us."
He kissed her. Long and desperate.
Then he pushed her toward the tear.
"Go. That’s an order from your System Champion."
Adi grabbed Sekar, pulling her back. She fought him, screaming Rama’s na.
But Adi was stronger. He dragged her through the tear, back to Earth. Ratna helped, supporting the wounded.
One by one, the survivors evacuated.
Leaving Rama alone.
With the Threshold Guardian.
And a terrible choice.
He looked at his corruption.
[CORRUPTION: 61%]
Nineteen percent from effective combat capability.
Nineteen percent from losing his humanity.
"You chose to stay," the Guardian said. "Interesting. Will you accept transformation? Join the void?"
"I’ll accept whatever it takes to kill you."
"Then suffer."
The Guardian attacked with its full power.
And Rama, still too human to fight back effectively, began to die.
His HP dropped steadily. 95... 73... 51... 34...
Each hit brought him closer to death.
And he still couldn’t hurt the Guardian.
Not at 61% corruption.
Not while still mostly human.
At 15 HP, with death seconds away, Rama made the final choice.
He stopped resisting the void corruption.
He opened himself to it completely.
Let it flood in.
[CORRUPTION: 61% → 70% → 78% → 84%]
His body scread. Cells rewrote themselves. Humanity burned away.
But power flooded in to replace it.
At 84% corruption, Rama stood up.
His eyes were void-black. His hands shifted between solid and incorporeal without his conscious control. His voice resonated with dinsional harmonics.
He was more void than human now.
But he could fight.
"Finally," the Guardian said. "Now you are worthy."
Rama attacked.
And this ti, his strikes hurt.
The real battle had begun.
But with every second, his corruption ticked higher.
[CORRUPTION: 84% → 85% → 86%]
And Rama wondered if he’d still be human when this was over.
Or if he’d won the battle but lost himself.
