"Your father just passed away." ng Xingzhi stood in the rain, the water splashing on the umbrella, soaking half of his clothes and sleeves. Yet even so, he didn’t take a step forward.
He didn’t know when this so-called ho ceased to be a ho; he would rather stay in the rain than take a step inside.
Su Yun listened quietly, a wave of sadness instantly filling her heart. But then she thought that Mr. Su was old to begin with, living to such an age was already a gain, so there was nothing to be sad about.
"Are you going to let out? My dad died, I want to pay my respects." Su Yun said.
Her reaction was a bit unexpected to ng Xingzhi. In his impression, Su Yun was sowhat willful, but still kind. She was relatively forgiving towards others; how did she end up like this?
ng Xingzhi stood in the rain, trying hard to scrutinize the wife he had once sworn to care for all his life, finding her face so blurred, no longer the one from his mories.
"Even at this ti, you’re still unwilling to let out?" Su Yun asked unhappily, "ng Xingzhi, I’ve been devoted to you but didn’t expect you’d be so heartless."
ng Xingzhi shook his head, the earlier confusion instantly disappearing, "Alright! I’ll let you out, and after we handle Mr. Su’s funeral, let’s apply for a divorce!"
"What did you say?" This blow was evidently harder for Su Yun to bear than the news of Mr. Su’s death. She instantly rushed out the door, standing in the rain, staring at ng Xingzhi in disbelief, "What did you say? Say it again."
"I said we should apply for a divorce." This notion wasn’t new; he had been indecisive all along, and he had promised Old Su to take care of Su Yun for a lifeti.
"ng Xingzhi, how could you do this? You promised you’d take care of for a lifeti, have you forgotten your vows?" Su Yun grabbed ng Xingzhi’s clothes, shaking them frantically, "Have you forgotten what you said?" The rain poured on Su Yun, soaking her like a drenched rat. Her hair was wet and stuck to her face, but she couldn’t care less.
The divorce seed like the sky falling to her. ng Xingzhi was her belief, the dream she had been chasing since childhood. Among their generation, only she and Shen Xinwen had married the n they loved since childhood.
Unfortunately, Shen Xinwen died early and couldn’t compare to her happiness in growing old with ng Xingzhi. If she divorced now, she’d fall short even compared to the early-deceased Shen Xinwen.
At least Hai Yunfeng hadn’t remarried in so many years, always keeping his original vow. But her? She didn’t want to grow old alone bitterly; just the thought of such days drove her crazy.
"I haven’t forgotten!" ng Xingzhi stood firm as a rock, coldly saying, "Back then, I made vows before Mr. Su, but those vows were made to Mr. Su, and now he’s no longer here." The umbrella in ng Xingzhi’s hand was knocked down in Su Yun’s frantic struggles, and the assistant behind him, seeing the President standing alone in the rain, wanted to co up to hold an umbrella but was stopped by a wave of ng Xingzhi’s hand.
"Even if my dad died, you can’t go back on your words." Su Yun’s eyes widened, red as a ghost, "ng Xingzhi, you were always the hero in my heart, a gentleman who kept his promises. I didn’t expect you to be such a scoundrel; my dad just died, and you’re already going back on your word."
