ng Xingzhi viciously shook off her hand; his usual good temper was lost in a fit of anger. "How did your father die? If it weren’t for you, would he have died?"
"What does it have to do with ? He was getting old; birth, aging, sickness, and death are normal." Su Yun had never felt she was at fault; she was just speaking her mind. What was wrong with that?
"Unbelievable." ng Xingzhi was utterly disappointed, turning to leave only to be grabbed by Su Yun. "Xingzhi, don’t leave . Please, don’t leave . I love you so much; how can you leave ?"
"Let go."
"I won’t let go, not even if I die." Su Yun cried out loudly, tears mixed with rain, holding onto ng Xingzhi hysterically, refusing to release him. "Xingzhi, please, we love each other so much. Have you forgotten the happy days we’ve spent together? I’ve devoted myself to considering ng Fan and ng Ping’s feelings and haven’t even had my own child. You were so moved, saying you’d never let down in this lifeti."
"I’ve seen how much you’ve done for the two children, but what have they beco now?" ng Xingzhi coldly retorted, "Answer ."
"I..." Su Yun was at a loss for words. ng Fan was dead, and ng Ping was estranged from the family and often injured. How could she be to bla? She had always been diligent, never letting up.
"Xingzhi, you cannot pin ng Fan’s death on . What does it have to do with ?"
ng Xingzhi closed his eyes in pain, taking a deep breath to control his anger. "It’s not related to you, but no normal mother would say what you did. You’ve never truly treated the two children as your own. You only used them as a way to boast, as tools to please ."
He pitied himself for never realizing this, always moved by her dedication. No wonder ng Ping disliked her from the beginning.
"I didn’t; you’re lying. I loved them for your sake."
"For my sake?" ng Xingzhi sneered. "Let go."
"Xingzhi, I won’t let go; I won’t ever let go. If you divorce , I’ll report you." Driven to panic and overwheld by the impact of divorce, Su Yun’s psychological defenses collapsed. She started speaking recklessly, saying things she had never uttered in front of ng Xingzhi before.
"Xingzhi, you’re the President. Do you know what a massive scandal your divorce would trigger? If I reported you for misconduct, your future would be over."
ng Xingzhi pushed her away, incredulous. "Are you out of your mind?"
"I’m not crazy; even if I am, it’s because I love you, and you’ve driven to madness."
"I have nothing to fear; you do whatever you want. But this marriage is ending, no question about it." His last bit of guilt had been washed away by the heavy rain.
"My brothers won’t let you divorce . Even with my father gone, I’m not easy to bully." Su Yun shouted fiercely in the rain, hiding her inner fear.
ng Xingzhi was about to get into the car but stopped upon hearing her words and turned around. "You’re wrong; this is my decision, and Su Hai and Su Jiang’s as well." Once inside the car, ng Xingzhi directly instructed his assistant, "Submit my divorce application to the Organization Departnt."
"Yes, President."
The death of Senior Leader Su made everyone hate Su Yun and sympathize with Chairman ng, especially ng Xingzhi’s assistant, confidential secretary, and advisors, all of whom were his close associates and knew more about the ng Family’s affairs than outsiders did.
