"I see...okay, got it. We’ll do what we can," I remarked with a grimace, before letting out a slow exhale to compose myself and ease my nerves.
"Let guess. We’re all going to die, aren’t we?" Damien sighed wistfully.
"No, that’s-...well, maybe, I suppose if be lying if I said that wasn’t a real possibility. The Monsters have breached the Sanctuaries, they should be coming into sight any minute now," I responded, preparing myself.
"Yeah...sounds like we’re all dead to ."
About two hours ago, the HUC had contacted every Hunter in each of the Sanctuaries, had us form groups and then spread us out across the Sanctuaries.
The Hunters here in Sanctuary Theta had been split into eight groups, and each group had been positioned in one of the four cardinal directions, and the four directions in between.
In other words, north, south, east, west, as well as northeast, northwest, southeast and southwest.
The group I was assigned to was to the east, and I’m the only Ace in the group. Including , there are only seven Aces in Sanctuary Theta, not counting those of us who were assigned to the Final Dungeon, of course.
And one of those seven includes a Healer, a non-combatant, so it’s more like six Aces.
Each of us have been assigned to a different group, and the two groups without Aces were placed in directions where they’re unlikely to encounter any Calamity Level Monsters.
We have a decent number of K-Ranks, but frankly, it just isn’t enough to-...
"H-Hey, I can sense them, dozens of Monsters coming this way! Th-Three of them are Calamity Level!" Suddenly exclaid a K-Ranked Detector.
"Stay calm! We can’t afford to panic here!" I called out, stepping forward and taking another deep breath.
I just can’t seem to settle my nerves...
"I-I see them, they’re almost here!"
"Th-This is it, we’re all gonna die!"
"Damn it...! Fine, but I ain’t going down without a fight!"
I steeled my resolve as the Monsters ca into sight, both along the ground and in the air, a massive swarm of them.
I see two Archdemons and a Lightning Dragon, and a number of Critical Levels too...
"Attack Mages, you’re up!" I exclaid, a massive volley of Elental attacks and arrows shooting out from behind towards the Monsters, the swarm spreading out as several of the weaker Monsters got blasted, roars of pain ringing out.
As the Monsters began to draw closer, I glanced at Damien, who let out a sigh before turning his attention to the Dragon and chanting...
"[Stun], [Tranquilize], [Weaken], [Slow]."
The Dragon let out a disoriented snarl as it began to plumt towards the ground, before I swiftly teleported onto its back, slamming my palm against it before chanting...
"[Long-Range Teleportation]!"
My surroundings abruptly changed as I teleported the Dragon and I right above an active volcano, the Monster plumting down towards the lava as I let out a stifled gasp as the intense heat hit .
The Lightning Dragon suddenly ca to a halt as it spread out its wings, just a few ters above the lava, letting out a roar and starting to fly back up towards , before I quickly teleported back to the Sanctuary, my eyes widening as utter mayhem greeted upon my return.
The Monsters had scattered all over the place, attacking viciously and relentlessly, dozens of the Hunters had been killed, the rest spread out across the space and fighting back, but steadily getting overwheld-...
I froze as I sensed a presence behind , chanting as fast as I could, right as I felt a sharp, stabbing pain in the middle of my back...
"[Switch]!"
"Wha-...?!" Blurted out the Monster as I swapped placed with it, one of the Archdemons.
As he began to turn his gaze back, I reached out as fast as I could and grabbed his tail, before activating Long-Range Teleportation again, teleporting the Archdemon and I above the middle of the ocean.
He let out a snarl and spun around, Negative Energy swirling around his claws.
I teleported a few ters lower right in the nick of ti, as he unleashed a rapid Negative Energy slash, which shot across the air with imnse speed.
His gaze shifted down towards , narrowing his eyes before swooping down rapidly while unleashing a barrage of Negative Energy projectiles as I plumted towards the water.
Right as I closed in on the water’s surface, the barrage of Negative Energy zeroing in on from above, the Archdemon not far behind, I teleported high up into the air. Loud splashes echoed out as the projectiles blasted the water, sprays of mist bursting out as the Archdemon ca to a halt and lifted his gaze up towards , hovering above the water’s surface.
"You cannot keep evading forever, human. Now, [Demonic Art: S-...]," He began, starting to raise his right hand up towards .
Suddenly, my eyes widened as a deafening splash rang out, a deep, rumbling roar echoing out...as a massive, towering creature erged from the water, below the Archdemon.
Huh?
"Wha-...?!" He began in alarm, before a massive pair of jaws snapped shut around him, muffling his yell.
Wh-What...WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?!
Its head alone is bigger than a Dragon, I-I’ve never seen anything like it. It looks like a snake, but about several HUNDRED tis bigger!
I teleported higher up into the air in fear as the creature withdrew back into the water, my blood running cold as a shudder ran down my spine, before I teleported back to the Sanctuary.
Huh?
I clenched my fists with a grimace as I returned to the sa spot, but both the Monsters and Hunters had scattered, only the corpses of those killed left.
Damn it, I was only gone for a handful of seconds, how-...?
No, the how doesn’t matter. We don’t have the manpower to defeat multiple Calamity Levels on our own, even the Critical Levels are overwhelming.
So, my Teleportation Magic will be key, I need to target the strongest Monsters and teleport them far away, while staying alive myself.
Alright...I need to find that second Archdemon next, I have to minimize casualties as much as I possibly can...
