Evelyn was taken aback, completely missing the deeper aning behind Caden Lockwood’s probing words.
"Could it really be you?" she asked incredulously.
His glare grew colder. She shrank back weakly and whispered, "If it really was you, then stop already! You have no reason to hold a grudge against him!"
"Initially, I had none." Caden’s eyes narrowed slightly, emitting a terrifying flash of cold light, "Now, I do."
Hearing his words with clear intent, Evelyn trembled heavily, and seeing Caden turning to leave, she quickly grabbed him.
"Uncle, where are you going?" Her face was full of fear.
"To do what you think I’d do." Caden’s voice was icy, every word as if it could freeze bones.
"I didn’t say it was you!" Evelyn beca more anxious, "Can’t I even ask a question?"
Seeing his rising fury, she quickly said, "If it wasn’t you, let’s just leave this alone!"
"How?" Caden lowered his gaze, looking at Evelyn’s hand on his arm, "Are you afraid he’ll get into trouble?"
Evelyn trembled lightly, "Uncle, there might be so misunderstanding here!"
He gave her the illusion that he was about to devour Finn Lewis alive.
"I never enjoy clearing up misunderstandings," Caden said, one word at a ti, "I only turn misunderstandings into truth and see how he continues to act."
Hearing this, Evelyn awkwardly curled her lips, knowing that Finn’s situation definitely wasn’t Caden’s doing.
She put on a smiling face, holding onto him, unwilling to let go, "Uncle, I know being misunderstood is indeed frustrating, but could you handle things a little more gently?"
"Do you feel sorry for him?" Caden’s tone was very displeased.
"This has nothing to do with pity!" Evelyn shrugged, "He rely confessed, and now he’s the school’s laughingstock. I feel sorry for him. No matter who made him lose his job, he’s in a dire situation!"
Caden snorted coldly, unimpressed by Evelyn’s explanation.
In his view, the situation behind all this was anything but simple!
Without saying much, he walked to the study and instructed his secretary to imdiately investigate the truth of the matter.
But what Caden found out was: Finn was still working and hadn’t been terminated at all; Evelyn was lying.
anwhile, in the bedroom, Evelyn was still worried about the situation turning worse.
She felt she should perhaps do sothing.
Just as she was about to go to the bedroom to find Caden, her phone rang.
It was a call from Finn.
"Senior," Evelyn said softly, "I asked my husband, and he hasn’t done anything to you."
"Really?" Finn snorted coldly, "If it wasn’t you two, then who? And it just so happens, the person framing has the last na ’Lockwood’?"
"I believe in my husband," Evelyn said seriously, "If he says he didn’t, then he absolutely didn’t. He’s not soone who wouldn’t own up to his actions."
"Then why am I in such a miserable state now?" Finn roared at Evelyn, "Tell , who else could I have offended nad Lockwood?"
Evelyn was also helpless.
She realized that whether or not Caden was involved, Finn had already made up his mind and was prepared to keep giving her trouble.
"I already told you he didn’t. If you don’t believe it, there’s nothing I can do," Evelyn said coldly, "Senior, my husband is nad ’Lockwood’, but you can’t just conclude that the person harming you is my husband because of that, can you?"
"It’s him!" Finn asserted confidently, "Evelyn, you’re an instigator. I’ve been hard by you like this, and you plan to stand by and do nothing!"
Evelyn didn’t have ti to respond before the bedroom door was pushed open.
A chill swept over her as Caden strode up to her, questioning, "Who are you talking to on the phone?"
