Evelyn Morgan shook her head weakly; whoever the elder brother was, she no longer had the right to long for him.
She was a married woman. How could she let her mind wander to another man?
Sniffing, Evelyn Morgan wiped her tears and lay on the bed, recalling all the events that had happened between her and Caden Lockwood.
She kept telling herself over and over again in her heart—she could do it!
When Caden Lockwood ca ho from work, Evelyn Morgan was still hiding in the bedroom.
He opened the bedroom door and saw her lying on the bed, looking dispirited.
Caden Lockwood couldn’t help but take off his suit jacket, hanging it on the rack while asking, "What’s wrong? Feeling down?"
Evelyn Morgan sat up, looking at Caden Lockwood, her eyes filled with panic, confusion, helplessness, compromise, and a deep complexity that even she couldn’t quite understand.
After spending the whole afternoon lying in bed, she found it increasingly difficult to understand her own thoughts.
She was muddled and dazed, questioning whether she was still herself.
Caden Lockwood raised an eyebrow and sat beside Evelyn Morgan, asking softly, "Why are you looking at with that expression?"
As he spoke, he lifted his hand to touch her forehead.
The temperature was normal.
Evelyn Morgan shuddered violently and imdiately moved away from Caden Lockwood.
Caden Lockwood looked Evelyn Morgan over, not understanding her behavior at the mont.
"Have I ever done anything over the line to you?" he asked, puzzled, "Hmm? Did you have a nightmare? Dreamt I was cruel to you?"
"Uncle," Evelyn Morgan’s voice was very small, "All the things you’ve promised , you’ll keep your word, right?"
Caden Lockwood was puzzled.
Evelyn Morgan was acting very strange today.
"Isn’t it true?" Evelyn Morgan asked anxiously.
Caden Lockwood gazed at Evelyn Morgan, simply asking directly, "What are you worried about?"
Evelyn Morgan froze, a guilty feeling imdiately showing on her face.
Was her anxious expression really that obvious?
"Worried..." Evelyn Morgan lightly bit her lip, hesitating for a long ti before softly saying, "That you will...use and abandon."
Hearing those four words from Evelyn Morgan, Caden Lockwood was first startled, then a hint of confusion appeared, followed by a brief laugh.
"Why are you laughing!" Evelyn Morgan spoke in an unfriendly tone, "It’s true! You haven’t realized how excellent you are! You have looks, intelligence, ability, and status. So many won would follow you in droves! Just like..."
She paused, then spoke in a muffled voice, "Just like ancient kings, who after eating a lot of at and fish, suddenly have scallions with tofu once and find it delicious, but ultimately still want to return to the at and fish!"
She felt like she was that scallion with tofu, a woman who temporarily matched Caden Lockwood’s taste.
Otherwise, she really couldn’t believe she held the position of being his consistently beloved.
Caden Lockwood laughed even more happily, lifting Evelyn Morgan’s chin, saying with a smile, "What? You’ve finally realized you are being indulged, and now you’re worried the indulgence will end?"
Evelyn Morgan’s cheeks reddened, she looked away, not daring to look at Caden Lockwood.
"Evelyn." Caden Lockwood’s voice still carried a hint of amusent, "If you can’t trust , no matter what I promise, you still won’t believe. Whether you can trust , is a question for yourself."
Evelyn Morgan blinked blankly, feeling a bit blocked in her heart, but she had to admit that Caden Lockwood was right.
The power to trust him didn’t ultimately lie with him, but with her.
Caden Lockwood looked at Evelyn Morgan’s plump breasts, with a gentle smile, he said, "Besides, who said you’re scallions with tofu?"
