Her heart felt as if it were being torn apart, tears falling incessantly. Evelyn sat there, silently cursing herself a thousand tis over.
Why did she foolishly make that call just now?
If she didn’t know that Logan Shaw was her big brother, she could now calmly go to see Caden Lockwood and look forward to their first eting after such a long separation.
But now, everything was different!
She was so confused.
How should she deal with Logan Shaw? And what about Caden Lockwood?
Logan Shaw adjusted his emotions and, as he walked towards his seat, saw Evelyn sitting there in a daze.
Her face was pale, her eyes dim, tears cascading continuously down her cheeks; her sorrowful look was heart-wrenching.
Logan Shaw strode over quickly, asking urgently, "Evelyn, what’s wrong?"
Looking at Logan Shaw, Evelyn’s tears flowed even more furiously.
She opened her mouth, wanting to ask him so many questions, yet not a single one ca forth.
What use was there in asking him?
He had denied it once already; he wouldn’t hesitate to deny it a second ti!
But she really didn’t understand why he wanted to deny his identity.
What was the reason he was unwilling to tell her?
"What’s going on?" Logan Shaw asked anxiously, picking up a tissue to wipe Evelyn’s tears. "Evelyn, don’t cry. Whatever it is, I can help you solve it."
His voice was gentle yet filled with worry, but to her ears, it was particularly jarring.
"Do you even care whether I cry or not?" Evelyn pushed Logan Shaw’s hand away. "Why are you so good at playing dumb? Or do you take for a fool?"
Listening to Evelyn’s questions, Logan Shaw was sowhat taken aback.
After a mont of confusion, he seed to understand sothing.
Was it because he had always pretended not to know about her feelings for him that she was upset?
"With what kind of feelings did you beco friends with ?" Evelyn asked, eyes red with tears, "Don’t you feel shaless?"
"Evelyn..."
"How can you treat like this?" Evelyn cried, questioning, "I know all along it’s who wished for too much, but now, I’m really not wishing for anything anymore!"
"..."
"I just wanted to say so things to you, to thank you," Evelyn sobbed, "I can live my own life. I won’t even cling to you! But what do you see as?"
Seeing Logan Shaw about to speak, Evelyn continued to cry out: "Do you think it’s fun? Watching kept in the dark, like a fool, expecting sothing, does it make you feel superior?"
"It’s not like you think," Logan Shaw said, feeling deeply guilty and helpless.
It was his fault.
He had let her suffer all this ti.
Evelyn glared at Logan Shaw, angered, "From now on, I don’t want to see you again! Don’t ever appear in front of !"
As these words fell, Evelyn grabbed her bag and ran off.
Watching Evelyn’s back and hearing her questions, one louder than the last, Logan Shaw’s heart felt as if it were being trampled by a thousand armies.
Evelyn was fine just now, so what... had happened to upset her?
Did she misunderstand that his sudden departure was because he was saddened over Shannon Dunn, and so she was jealous?
Seeing Evelyn getting further and further away, Logan Shaw felt an emptiness inside, an overwhelming unease.
He couldn’t think of anything else, with just one thought filling his mind: If he let her go, he’d regret it for a lifeti!
He was a coward.
He was timid.
All along, he never dared to admit it, but in truth, he had been attracted to her long ago!
He suppressed the stirrings in his heart because he didn’t want her reputation to be tarnished because of him.
But if she had always been waiting for him to take that step, he was willing!
He didn’t want to disappoint her!
He would protect her from all rumors and slander, leaving her only happiness!
