Chapter 261: Nature Affinity
The mont Janna-Roland saw the newest talent entry, a vast sea of erald light—an endless ocean of life—instantly subrged her consciousness in the torrent.
“Hoo—haa—hoo—haa—”
As she listened to the long, slow breaths echoing beside her ears and reopened her eyes, Janna found herself standing in a forest shrouded in mist—dark, silent, with dimd vitality.
“This is—the Misty Forest?”
Janna had initially assud she was dreaming again, but the familiar surroundings confird she wasn't dreaming. Instead, her entire consciousness had rged deeply into the Misty Forest.
“Have I beco a forest?”
Every blade of grass, every tree, every flower, and every stone—unlike before when her dream perspective was locked onto a giant tree—this ti, Janna felt as if she had beco the will birthed by the Misty Forest itself. Even the tiniest changes, like snow crushing a branch, she could sense in an instant.
“Hoo—haa—hoo—haa—”
The long breathing echoed once more.
And this ti, as if ti reversed, Janna’s perspective showed the entire Misty Forest transitioning from winter’s snow, to autumn’s withering leaves, to sumr’s flourishing greenery, and finally to spring’s budding vitality.
Each scene, similar yet different, passed rapidly before her like a fast-forwarded docuntary… all while conveying waves of mournful emotion to her.
“So you were crying—”
From the Misty Forest to the entire Duling Witch Gathering Place, and finally, guided by the Misty Forest, Janna’s vision pierced through the magical tower’s barrier enclosing the witch gathering place, extending outward into what seed to be a normal, unchanged forest beyond.
“This is—the forest under the Dim Sun’s shroud?”
As her view expanded, Janna finally saw images beyond the barrier: trees, rivers, animals, and mountains—scenes as beautiful and intricate as landscape paintings. Though all appeared peaceful, Janna could sll the scent of decay and corruption from within the natural scenery.
“You an—they’re already dead?”
As the Misty Forest’s endless cries echoed, a deeply empathetic sorrow made it hard for Janna to breathe.
“But why? If they’re dead, why do they still look the sa on the outside?”
Winds howled, and the forest leaves swayed.
As her vision delved deeper, Janna realized that outside the magical tower’s barrier, in the seemingly harmonious landscape, there were no other living creatures except for a few mindless, mutated magical beasts.
“The loss of a [Law] inevitably leads to a plane’s collapse. The [Law of Nature and Life], being one of the most critical [Primary Laws] in the Plane World—its absence would first and foremost doom the innocent creatures of nature———”
Oooo—
The scene shifted again. Amidst endless sobbing and wailing, Janna’s perspective rapidly contracted. Her consciousness plunged through the current of ti, returning to darkness.
Splash—
Janna sat up in the bathtub, water cascading off her body in large droplets.
“It’s already midnight—”
Glancing at the clock, Janna used the [Cleaning Spell] to dry herself, then changed into a brand-new set of pajamas gifted by the Necromancy Group, and sat cross-legged on her bed.
“Hmm?”
Just as she was about to open her character panel, her gaze was drawn to the windowsill—where a vibrant green magical plant had grown substantially.
“So this is the power of the [Growth Law Fragnt]. System, open the character panel.”
【Na: Janna-Roland
Witch Talents: Nature Affinity (Grade A – Temporarily Unupgradable), Spirit Traverse (Grade A – Temporarily Unupgradable)
Law Authority: Growth Law Fragnt (Comprehension Progress 0%), Purification Law Fragnt (Comprehension Progress 1%), Beauty Law Fragnt (Comprehension Progress 0%)】
Staring at the panel where her [Nature Affinity] talent had already upgraded to Grade A, Janna’s face blossod with a smile. Yet—
“Could it be that [Witch Talents] can only be upgraded to Grade A during the apprentice phase?”
Seeing the “Temporarily Unupgradable” tags next to both [Witch Talents], Janna pondered briefly and then shook her head.
Janna knew that in this world of witches, there indeed existed [Will of the Witch] darlings born with destiny—those blessed from birth with Grade S talents.
However, these rare talents were often initially masked as Grade C or Grade B—deceptively hidden talents.
Only when these [Will of the Witch] darlings obtained a [Law Seed], or officially ascended to full witchhood, would their [Witch Talents] truly erge from their cocoons—returning to their most authentic form: Grade S talents.
Of course, no matter how well disguised, S-grade talents still revealed clues during the apprentice period.
For example, elental affinity far beyond normal [Witch Talents], or exceptional comprehension in a specific witchcraft domain—traits that made them stand out early, never left buried.
“Maybe I actually have a hidden Grade S talent. And the system’s point allocation is just a tool to help return to my true talent form—”
Arrogantly imagining such a possibility, Janna chuckled silently, then shifted her gaze toward the long-coveted [Growth Law Fragnt].
“So it really got activated!”
Without hesitation, Janna quickly closed the character panel and shut her eyes. With a sinking consciousness, she traversed her ntal sea and arrived beside the Witch Tree deep in her soul.
“These two must be the fruits ford from the [Nature Affinity] talent and the [Growth Law Fragnt]...”
On Janna’s Witch Tree, three fruits and two flower buds were now hanging.
Among them, the one shining like a star represented her Grade A talent [Spirit Traverse]; the other, a vibrant light green fruit exuding strong vitality, was the newly upgraded Grade A talent [Nature Affinity].
In addition, below these two talent fruits was a slightly smaller, deep green fruit that glistened like jade—representing the successfully activated [Growth Law Fragnt].
Beneath the [Growth Law Fragnt] were two flower buds—one white and one pink—representing the [Purification Law Fragnt] and the [Beauty Law Fragnt] respectively.
As for the other lush green leaves growing on the Witch Tree, they represented all the witchcraft Janna had mastered since becoming a witch apprentice.
