After hearing Cheng Beize, Cheng Beilin stuck her tongue out sheepishly, then ran over to Su Qing’s bunk. She threw her arms around Su Qing’s arm and shot Cheng Beize a smug smile. "Su Qing wouldn’t hold a grudge against . We’re great friends now, right, Su Qing?"
Cheng Beize shook his head with a smile. It seed Cheng Beilin and Su Qing had really started off on the wrong foot but were now the best of friends. He never would have imagined they would get along so well. Besides, Cheng Beilin had already told him that Su Qing had given her a sixty-year-old ginseng root and had also given him a jar of scar-removing powder.
Both the ginseng and the powder were incredibly rare and valuable items. He had been truly astonished when he ca to Lihua Village this ti and saw Su Qing’s face. It had almost completely returned to normal, with the marks barely visible. This just went to show how miraculous the powder’s effects were.
Having received such fine gifts, Cheng Beize felt indebted to Su Qing.
Su Qing smiled at Cheng Beilin and said, "That’s right. You’re not wrong."
Hearing this, Cheng Beilin shot another triumphant smile at Cheng Beize, who didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
Their train was scheduled for 4:30 PM, and it had just started moving. Su Qing glanced at the sky outside and said, "Let’s get sothing to eat."
"Okay, okay," Cheng Beilin nodded eagerly. The mont Su Qing ntioned it, she realized she was hungry.
"I’ll go to the dining car and buy a couple of hot dishes," Cheng Beize said, getting up.
"Okay." Su Qing nodded. Since she was traveling with the Cheng siblings this ti, it was inconvenient for her to put things in her dinsional space. After all, the space had preservative and insulating properties. If she took out food that was still hot, it would undoubtedly arouse suspicion. Therefore, she had only brought so cooked food like stead buns, at sauce, and stead sausages. For the Cheng siblings, who were accustod to a life of comfort, this certainly wouldn’t be enough. So, when Cheng Beize offered to buy hot dishes, Su Qing didn’t object.
After placing so stead buns, at sauce, and sausages on the small table in the compartnt, Su Qing and Cheng Beilin waited for Cheng Beize to return with the food.
Cheng Beize went to the dining car. Since the train had just departed, there were relatively few people buying food. He quickly bought a portion of braised pork, so stewed ribs, and a stir-fried vegetable dish, then prepared to head back.
Suddenly, a commotion erupted behind him, accompanied by the sound of several pairs of hurried footsteps. Before Cheng Beize could react, a man violently wrapped an arm around his neck and pressed a dagger against his waist. Forced to turn around, Cheng Beize saw several n staring warily in his direction.
"Aah!" Gasps of shock erupted all around. No one had expected a hostage situation to occur in the dining car just after the train had started moving.
Cheng Beize heard the man behind him grit his teeth and say, "Back off! All of you, back off! Don’t co any closer, or I’ll fucking stab him!"
Feeling the sharp point against his lower back, Cheng Beize couldn’t help but frown. He spoke calmly to the man, "Try to calm down."
"You shut up, or I’ll gut you!" The man holding Cheng Beize hostage was clearly panicking and acting recklessly. He threatened Cheng Beize viciously before turning his glare on the n pursuing him. "Don’t you co any closer! If you do, I won’t be so nice. It’s not like I haven’t killed before. What’s one more? At least I won’t be lonely on the road to hell."
"Don’t do anything rash!" one of the n opposite Cheng Beize quickly said, making a placating gesture. "We can talk this over."
"Talk my ass!" the hijacker behind Cheng Beize roared, still agitated. "Don’t think I don’t know what you’re up to! You just want to catch ! If I let this guy go, you’ll grab for sure. And if I get caught by you lot, what good will co of it? Hmph, don’t take for an idiot."
"We really can talk about this. Don’t get agitated," the man opposite him said hurriedly. "There’s still room for negotiation."
"Pah! You think I’m a three-year-old kid?" the hijacker spat. "There’s nothing to talk about. I have one condition. When we get to the next station, I’m taking this man off the train with . You’re not to follow. Once I’m sowhere safe, I’ll let him go."
The man opposite him frowned. This person was a murderer. If they did as he said, the hostage’s chances of survival would be slim to none.
"Hurry up! Yes or no?" the hijacker roared angrily when he saw the man hesitate.
As he finished speaking, he suddenly slashed the knife viciously across Cheng Beize’s arm.
"Aah!" Even though it was early spring, it was still very cold in the Northeast, and Cheng Beize was dressed in thick layers. But the hijacker’s knife was incredibly sharp. In a single stroke, it opened a deep gash on his arm. Blood instantly soaked through his sleeve and stread down his arm. DRIP, DRIP, DRIP... it splattered onto the floor.
"You!" The man opposite him was startled to see the hijacker injure soone without hesitation.
The hijacker sneered. "I’m not easy to fool. See that? If you don’t agree to my terms, I’ll just take this guy down with . Even if I die, I’m taking soone with to keep company."
"Don’t get agitated. Give us a mont to discuss it," the man opposite him said quickly.
"I don’t have much ti! Hurry it up! You have three minutes. When three minutes are up, if you haven’t agreed, I’ll kill him first." As he spoke, the hijacker pressed the blood-stained knife to Cheng Beize’s neck.
Cheng Beize gritted his teeth. ’I didn’t bring any bodyguards with on this trip to the mainland. While I know so basic martial arts, it’s just a few clumsy moves, completely for show. I know that, having been taken hostage by this man, I have absolutely no chance of escaping on my own.’
Cheng Beize pressed his lips together, his mind racing for a way to save himself.
"Okay, just a mont." The man opposite him knew the situation was urgent and said quickly, "Don’t get agitated."
"Hurry up!" the hijacker yelled.
anwhile, back in the sleeper compartnt, Cheng Beilin frowned. "What’s taking my brother so long? The dining car can’t be that crowded with people buying food, can it? Ugh, I’m starving."
"Beilin, you stay here. I’m going to go check," Su Qing said, her expression growing serious. Her hearing was excellent. Their car was adjacent to the dining car, and their compartnt was in the middle of the car. Even though the doors were closed, she could still hear the commotion from the dining car.
’Sothing seems wrong!’
