Lucas reached the forward ridge where his personal squad waited in disciplined silence.

Commander Alexander, Captain Varran, and the king were far to the rear with the second half of the force, moving exactly as instructed, slow, unthreatening. Henrietta rode beside the king, Nyx at her shoulder. Lira, Selene, and Seraphina followed with their retinues, watchful and tense.

Here, however, the real preparation began.

Lucas dismounted.

"Volde," he said.

Volde stepped forward imdiately.

"Select thirteen."

Volde turned and scanned the assembled n. He did not choose the largest. He did not choose the loudest. He chose those whose breathing did not change under pressure. Thirteen soldiers stepped out from the formation.

Lucas opened the reinforced case Tom had carried earlier.

Inside lay additional Dominion bracelets, he handed one to each of the thirteen.

The tal felt heavier than it looked, runes etched in precise symtry. When fastened around the forearm, faint lines aligned with the pulse beneath the skin.

Lucas then turned to his core squad.

"You as well."

One by one, they secured the bracelets.

He kept one for himself.

Then he called forward several trusted sergeants and leaders of the specialized units , shock teams, shield-breakers, ridge runners. Each received a bracelet with brief, direct instruction.

Once distribution was complete, Lucas stepped into the center of the formation and withdrew the Core of Dominion, the master, darker than the others, its etched channels deeper, older.

The air seed to tighten when he fastened it to his belt.

A faint harmonic vibration rippled outward , subtle, almost imperceptible, but every linked bracelet responded with a dim answering pulse.

The network was live.

"Listen carefully," Lucas said.

His voice carried without strain.

"These are not weapons of brute force. They amplify what you already direct. Que, Montum, impact, displacent. They will respond to clarity, and punish confusion."

He raised his arm slightly. The Core pulsed once.

On the ridgeline, a loose stone trembled and slid three inches before settling again.

A demonstration, controlled and minimal.

"You will feel resistance at first," he continued. "Do not fight it. Align your breathing. Focus on the point of transfer. Think in vectors, not in rage."

He looked directly at the thirteen Volde had chosen.

"You are not here to overwhelm. You are here to fracture."

Volde nodded once, understanding fully.

Lucas then turned to the sergeants and officers.

"You will explain this to your squads imdiately. They do not need to know the chanism. They need to know discipline. Activation only on signal."

Alexander was not present to question him. The king was not present to moderate him.

This was Lucas’ domain now.

As the leaders dispersed to instruct their units, the faint resonance between bracelets stabilized into a steady, low hum, a silent web stretching across chosen nodes in the army.

Above them, movent like drifting frost caught the light.

The Ice Belle lingered near Lucas’ shoulder.

She circled him once, curious.

Lucas did not look at her imdiately. He was watching the valley mouth in the distance.

But he spoke quietly enough that only she could hear.

"Your task will not be loud."

She tilted her head slightly, crystalline strands of frost-light shifting.

Lucas stepped away from the gathered officers once the final instructions had been passed along, allowing the n to settle into their designated positions along the ridge and valley floor. The bracelets humd faintly in quiet synchronization, like a restrained heartbeat shared among chosen veins of the army. Volde was already moving along the eastern rise with his thirteen, ensuring their footing was steady and their breathing asured. Below, shield lines ford with deceptive normalcy, presenting nothing unusual to any distant watcher.

Only when he was certain that every visible piece appeared ordinary did Lucas turn fully toward the Ice Belle.

"You wished to impress them," Lucas said quietly, his voice lowered so that even the nearest soldier could not catch the words.

"The valley," he continued, gesturing toward the narrowing throat ahead, "is not rely ground to be crossed. It is a vessel. It will belong to whoever commands its temperant."

He let his gaze travel along the ridges where the usurpers would be concealed, waiting for the mont to descend in confidence.

"When they reveal themselves, they will believe they control height and timing. They will believe this terrain bends to their will because they studied it first. I want you to show them that study does not equal dominion."

A faint shimr of frost curled around his gloved fingers before dissolving.

"When their vanguard begins its descent, you will not strike imdiately. You will let them commit. Let them shout. Let them believe montum is theirs. Only when their center is fully exposed will you begin."

He stepped closer to the edge of the ridge and looked down into the valley floor, already imagining the choreography.

"You will draw the cold from beneath the stone rather than from the sky. Let it rise from the earth itself. Frost along the ground first, thin and nearly invisible. Their footing will grow uncertain before they even recognize the change."

Her presence brightened subtly, as if tasting the idea.

"Then claim the air," Lucas went on. "Not with a storm that announces itself, but with a pressure that seeps into lungs and stiffens joints. Let their fingers numb around sword hilts. Let bowstrings grow brittle. Let breath plu too thickly to see through."

He turned to her fully now.

"This will be your domain, not as spectacle but as suffocation. I do not want a blizzard that blinds friend and foe alike. I want precision. Ice that answers only to you. Ice that parts around our n and binds around theirs."

A faint ring of frost ford at her feet in response to his intent, spreading outward in a perfect circle before fading.

"When Volde fractures the ridge," Lucas continued, "you will catch the falling debris in veins of cold. Freeze the looser stones mid-slide so that they form barriers instead of avalanches. Create walls where there were none. Corridors where they expect none. Their formations will break against shapes they did not anticipate."

He paused, considering the larger design.

"Their commanders will attempt to signal retreat once confusion spreads. That is when you tighten your hold. A thin glaze upon the higher slopes so that retreat becos perilous. A creeping frost along the valley mouth so that escape narrows without them realizing it."

The Ice Belle circled him once, slow and deliberate, as though asuring the scale of what he asked.

"This is not rely punishnt," Lucas said, his tone steady but firm. "This is reclamation. They chose this valley believing it favored them. You will remind them that nature does not pledge loyalty."

He allowed a rare softness to enter his expression.

"You wanted purpose. This is purpose worthy of you."
