Edmund’s throat emitted a grotesque sound, and the two policen who had been knocked to the ground only reacted after being stunned, one hooking Hua Qingyi’s throat from behind, while the other tried to pry open the handcuffs in his hand, but the arms clamped tightly around Edmund felt as indestructible as iron blocks. After several futile attempts, he picked up a chair from the side and smashed it against Hua Qingyi’s back. With a boom, the chair shattered, but the person showed no reaction whatsoever.
"Damn it, let go!" The two policen, at a loss for what to do, could only shout loudly over there, and things like batons had no effect at all on this seemingly ek person. Inside, they scread, wondering what kind of monster this was. The stories previously heard from Rochester were indeed true. At that mont, they felt tempted to back out, but seeing Edmund still in the other’s hands, these two policen could only continue to try saving their director from this creature.
Hua Qingyi laughed at the hesitant and fearful expressions of the two policen, yet the pressure on Edmund’s throat showed no signs of easing. Edmund’s pale face had turned as red as a freshly roasted shrimp.
"Hey, want to save your director?" Hua Qingyi pouted at the two policen. "Unlock the handcuffs!"
The two policen shook their heads vigorously; Edmund would kill them! Seeing their lack of cooperation, Hua Qingyi applied force to his hands. Imdiately, he heard Edmund yell, but this did not affect Hua Qingyi’s intentions. He dragged Edmund to a chair and sat down, feeling exhausted from standing. "What did you just say my cri was?"
"Mur..." Edmund was only able to say one word before obediently closing his mouth, exhaling more air than he was inhaling. He felt he was near suffocation, and just as he truly believed he would suffocate, the chain on his neck loosened slightly, letting a breath of fresh air flow in. This damned bastard was doing it on purpose, Edmund scread internally, but he was outmatched; he was the one imprisoned.
"Yo, what’s going on here?" With a clatter, the door that was closed was pushed open from outside. Hua Qingyi glanced at the newcor, unknown to him, but seeing the two policen beside him were respectful, he guessed this was an important figure.
"isai!" Edmund spat out a few words and then began to breathe heavily. Suddenly the iron chain on his neck was released, and upon gaining freedom, Edmund didn’t care for anything else. He flipped over and kicked Hua Qingyi in the stomach, causing the man to topple over with the chair, and then followed up with punches to his arms.
"Enough!" isai gave Edmund a mont to vent before stepping forward to restrain him and pulling him from the ground. "Remove his handcuffs now, there are reporters outside, do you want them to see you beating a prisoner?"
"How are there reporters? Even if there were, how could they possibly see anything?" Edmund was furious, but he did not agree with isai aloud. The police standing aside did not know what to do. "Release him, and he will turn on us!"
"You almost died at his hands even while he was chained, didn’t you?" isai pointed to his own neck; he had entered to see this foolish person almost choked to death.
"What are you here for?"
"There’s a large group of reporters demanding interviews with our police departnt regarding accusations of forced confessions. They want you to step out and clarify."
"What?" Edmund exclaid, his eyes widening. "Was it you? Was it you who leaked it to them?"
"You should ask yourself if you’ve ever offended anyone who would sell this tactic to reporters. A newly appointed director with such habits would definitely make headlines!" Saying this, isai signaled to a policeman on the side, who imdiately moved to Hua Qingyi and unlocked the handcuffs. "Director Edmund, earlier..."
Suddenly, the ground shook as if it was an earthquake, and the table trembled slightly. isai pushed Edmund onto the ground, but the vibrations did not alter due to their prone position. Edmund clutched his head, still in shock, when an explosion rang like it was just beside his ear, sending him a ter into the air before falling back to the side. The sudden change caused his chest to take a heavy hit, and he spewed out a mouthful of blood.
"Go see what’s happening?" isai, calmly lying on the ground, waited for the explosion’s noise to fade, scanned the surroundings, and Hua Qingyi’s figure was already gone. He quickly approached Edmund, glanced at him, and nudged his chubby body with his toe, no response!
"Director, there was a bomb, soone set up bombs all over the police station!" The person who returned to report shouted frantically, now encountering chaos outside.
"Where was hit?" The director was unconscious from the blast, and as the deputy, isai had to take charge.
"First was the detention cell, second was the director’s office!"
"Contact the bomb squad, get soone to watch over the director!" isai rushed out, knowing the director’s office was upstairs, ordinary holding cells downstairs. "Evacuate everyone inside, hurry!" issuing orders while running outside, avoiding the middle floors. This person was causing chaos with the aim being Hua Qingyi!
Ambulances and firefighters roared in amidst chaotic sirens, the entire police station engulfed in flas, looking fiery red, only a few knew it was rely a bluff!
"You’re not as dumb as you look!" Tang said, biting on a lollipop, standing in the alley opposite the police station, the entire street congested. Spectators, reporters seeking first-hand news, along with those who narrowly escaped started observing the spectacle.
"This fire is not small! The director’s office is likely dood, and the prisoners will also be Edmund’s headache!" Hua Qingyi chuckled twice.
"Oh! The director’s office wasn’t my doing, I only started a fire in the detention cell, the escape of a prisoner would alert Edmund." Tang gestured towards the burning room upstairs, the bomb exploded from there.
"It wasn’t you?"
"I only admit what I’ve done, I only did half of all this." Pouting around the lollipop, upon seeing isai exiting from the inside, Tang waved to Hua Qingyi. "Rember, you owe one."
