The sudden assault by Konoha’s jōnin, combined with the fact that their blades were laced with poison, caused devastating losses to the Sunagakure side in a very short span of ti.
After the initial panic, the Suna-nin quickly regrouped to defend against the attack from the Konoha jōnin.
Although Konoha had dispatched most of its jōnin this ti, there were still jōnin present in the Suna camp.
But when faced with Konoha’s poisoned weapons, they had no choice but to dodge and evade, looking utterly frustrated.
The Sunagakure jōnin had never expected Konoha ninja to coat their weapons with poison.
Wasn’t that their specialty?
At last, these Suna-nin understood what Konoha ninja must have felt back then.
They didn’t dare to clash head-on—just one mistake, one injury, and you’d be dead!
What’s more, the Suna-nin were shocked to discover that the poison Konoha used was even more terrifying than their own—many tis more potent.

The Konoha jōnin grinned from ear to ear as he watched the Sunagakure jōnin across from him dodging desperately.
He still rembered how it was he who had been forced to dodge just two days ago—but now, the tables had turned.
And the feeling? Absolutely glorious!
"Dammit, you think I’m scared of you or sothing?!" The Suna jōnin finally lost it and lunged forward with a kunai.
"Co on then! Let’s see who’s scared of who!" The Konoha jōnin also thrust his kunai forward.
Neither of them dodged.

Two sharp blades tore through cloth simultaneously.
Blood flowed from both of their arms at the sa ti.
"Heh heh heh, you’ve been poisoned by . Don’t think you’re walking away from this alive!" The Suna jōnin’s eyes flashed with madness.
But before he even finished speaking, his body collapsed to the ground, froth bubbling from his mouth.
Even so, he struggled to lift his head and look at the Konoha jōnin, hoping to see him fall to the ground just like he had.
Unfortunately, that hope was in vain...
He saw the Konoha jōnin staring at him with a faint smirk, lips moving, as if saying sothing.
But the poison had already spread too far—he couldn’t make out the words.
Then his body suddenly spasd violently, and monts later, he stopped breathing.
"What were you expecting?"
Looking down at the Suna-nin’s corpse, the Konoha jōnin repeated what he had said earlier.

The battle didn’t last long before Sunagakure reinforcents arrived.
"We can retreat now."
Renya looked at the Suna troops rushing in from afar and imdiately gave the order.
If they didn’t leave now, they wouldn’t be able to at all.
Even if they were jōnin, in this kind of situation the only option was to run.
If they stayed, it would be certain death.
Upon hearing this, the Konoha ninja didn’t hesitate for a second. They turned around and left imdiately.
"Stop them! Don’t let them escape!"
The Suna vice-commander shouted from the distance, hoping the camp’s defenders would stall the Konoha ninja.
But the Suna-nin in the camp didn’t move to block them—instead, they let the Konoha ninja leave freely.
So even breathed a sigh of relief once they were gone.
"You idiots! What the hell are you doing?!"
The vice-commander stord into the camp and roared at the Suna-nin, furious that the Konoha ninja had already vanished without a trace.
"Why didn’t you stop them?!"
Faced with his outburst, one of the Suna-nin explained,
"The Konoha ninja coated their weapons with poison. We couldn’t stop them..."
The vice-commander froze on the spot.
Had he heard that right?
The Konoha ninja used poisoned weapons?
Wasn’t that their own specialty?
"It’s true—and Konoha’s poison is even deadlier!" Another Suna-nin stepped forward. "I saw it myself. A poisoned comrade died within monts."
The vice-commander started to question reality.
His first instinct was disbelief.
Konoha developed a poison more potent than theirs?
That’s impossible!
Everyone knew that in the shinobi world, no one surpassed Sunagakure in poison techniques.
How could Konoha’s poison be stronger?
"Impossible! Absolutely impossible!" the vice-commander blurted out.
But when he looked down at the bodies of his fallen comrades, he fell silent.
As soone who excelled in poison techniques, how could he not recognize that these deaths were caused by toxins?

Inside the Sunagakure command tent.
Commander Matsuda stared grimly at the corpses of his shinobi on the floor.
Not in his wildest dreams did he expect Konoha’s poison to be this powerful.
In such a short ti, they’d taken such heavy losses...
And worst of all, Konoha had defeated them in their own area of expertise!
He couldn’t even begin to describe how humiliating that felt.
Especially since Konoha had detox specialists—Sunagakure’s poisons were completely ineffective on them.
But their poisons, on the other hand, had wreaked havoc among the Suna-nin.
Sunagakure was known across the shinobi world as the best in poison techniques—and now, they’d been bested by Konoha?
If word got out, no one would ever believe it.
A silver-haired girl crouched beside a corpse, frowning as she examined the wounds, trying to identify the components of the poison.
But the longer she looked, the more horrified she beca—she couldn’t determine the poison’s composition at all.
"No way..." the girl muttered to herself, disbelief written all over her face.
She was Sunagakure’s genius poison-maker—and she couldn’t even analyze this poison?
"Well? Can you develop an antidote?" Matsuda asked quietly.
To him, it should’ve been easy. She was the village’s poison-making prodigy, after all.
"I... give so ti. I can do it," the silver-haired girl replied, her face pale and voice unsteady.
This was the first ti she had ever encountered sothing like this...
Matsuda nodded, not thinking too deeply, and gave his orders:
"Develop the antidote as soon as possible—and while you’re at it, start working on a new poison."
Reinforcents from the village were on the way. Once they arrived, they could launch a full-scale assault on Konoha.
And eliminate Konoha’s detox specialist along the way.
Once that person was out of the picture, their poisons could unleash their full potential.
Thinking of Konoha’s detox expert, Matsuda fell into deep thought.
Could this new poison Konoha used... have been developed by that person?
The mont the thought crossed his mind, killing intent surged in his eyes.
If it was that person... they had to die!
He would never allow soone like that to live on the battlefield.
No matter the cost—they had to be eliminated!

"Hahaha, those Suna-nin didn’t stand a chance!"
The jōnin who had participated in the battle couldn’t stop praising Renya after witnessing the effects of the poison firsthand.
Everyone who used it said the sa thing—it was amazing!
Renya simply responded with a warm smile.
With the poison he had developed, Konoha’s combat strength had drastically increased.
It wouldn’t be long now before they achieved victory on the southwest front and completely defeated the Land of Wind.
Speaking of poisons, Renya suddenly rembered sothing.
He wondered... that poison-maker from Sunagakure...
