Chapter 125. The Delegations of the Seven Kingdoms Gather in Kroll
At that mont, inside a lavish conference chamber, four enormous Communication Crystals lit up at the sa ti.
The figures of the kings of Kadiya Kingdom, Dragon Kingdom, the Silver Oakleaf Kingdom, and the Reinhardt Kingdom appeared within the crystals, and every one of them wore a grave expression.
“The Legend I sent out did not return.”
The King of Kadiya spoke first, his voice carrying suppressed fury as his knuckles tapped against the table.
“What about your people?”
“The sa.”
The King of Dragon Kingdom spoke in a voice as deep as thunder.
“We did not even receive a distress signal.”
The King of the Silver Oakleaf Kingdom let out a sigh.
“For four Legends to die at the sa ti, there is only one explanation besides a Domain-Level Powerhouse making a move.”
“It seems the foreign races are determined to enter a marriage alliance with Kroll. Did we end up shooting ourselves in the foot?”
The King of the Reinhardt Kingdom swept his gaze over the other three, his eyes gloomy.
“There is no point saying that now. The question is, what do we do next?”
Silence filled the chamber for a mont, and the figures of the four kings inside the crystals all radiated a chilling coldness.
“What else can we do?”
The King of Dragon Kingdom suddenly slamd a hand onto the table.
“They have a Domain. Do we not have Domains as well? Send people to Kroll’s Royal Capital to ‘join the festivities.’ I refuse to believe they can withstand the pressure of four Domains at the sa ti.”
“I agree.”
The King of Kadiya nodded.
“This is also a good chance to test their limits and see just how large the resource trade between Kroll and those foreign races really is.”
The King of the Silver Oakleaf Kingdom hesitated for a mont. “Is that not too risky? Once Domain-Level Powerhouses clash, it could very easily trigger a full-scale war.”
“What is there to fear? If they fight, it will be in Kroll’s Royal Capital, not ours.”
The King of the Reinhardt Kingdom sneered.
“If we do not suppress this now, then once their marriage alliance succeeds and they consolidate their resources, the four of us truly will not sleep in peace.”
“Then it is settled. Each of us will send our strongest Domain-Level Powerhouse. The destination—Kroll’s Royal Capital.”
The four Communication Crystals flashed at the sa ti, as though so silent understanding had been reached.
When the crystals went dark, the conference chamber fell quiet again.
One day later, four Letters of State phrased in “earnest” language were placed on Kroll II’s desk, and their contents were nearly identical.
Having heard that the Kroll Kingdom was about to enter a marriage alliance with the foreign races, the four kingdoms were specially dispatching delegations to co “visit” the princesses who would be married away there.
Kroll II picked up one of the Letters of State. His fingers crumpled the paper, and a cold smile curved at the corner of his mouth.
“What a pack of bastards. Like maggots, the mont they sll a trace of blood, they all want to crowd in.”
He tossed the letter back onto the desk and raised his voice. “Attend .”
An attendant hurried into the room. “Your Majesty.”
“Pass down my order. Five hundred kiloters outside the Royal Capital, at Hulk Basin, a Royal Relay Station is to be built imdiately.”
“Tell all delegations that the journey has been tiring and that they should rest there first and await summons.”
Kroll II’s voice did not carry the slightest warmth.
“Rember this. The relay station is to be arranged to the highest standard.”
“Yes, Your Majesty.” The attendant accepted the order and withdrew.
Kroll II then turned toward an empty corner. “Shadow Guard.”
A black shadow appeared soundlessly and dropped to one knee. “Your servant is here.”
“Send word, exactly as spoken, to the Foreign Race delegation currently on the road regarding the four kingdoms sending delegations.”
He paused, then added, “Remind them that four Domains have arrived.”
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
The shadow vanished again, as though it had never appeared.
Silence returned to the Study, but Kroll II did not remain seated. He called out once more.
“Summon Kru, Legion Commander of the Gold Legion, to appear before .”
A short while later, a general clad in golden armor and bearing a steady, imposing presence stepped into the Study.
“This general, Kru, greets Your Majesty.”
“Kru.”
Kroll II rose to his feet and walked over to the map.
“The delegations from the four kingdoms have co with ill intent. There are likely Domain-Level Powerhouses backing them.”
“You are to imdiately lead the mage battalion of the Gold Legion and work together with the Palace Archmages to set up three layers of defensive magic arrays around the Royal Capital, with particular focus on guarding against energy shockwaves.”
Kru’s expression sharpened. “Your Majesty is concerned that… they may make a move?”
“One must always guard against others.”
Kroll II looked at Hulk Basin on the map.
“If they truly do make a move, it will be too late to start setting up the magic arrays then. Also, evacuate the nearby population first.”
“Your servant accepts the order and will attend to it at once.”
Kru cupped his fists in salute, then turned and strode away.
The wind at Hulk Basin carried sand and gravel, striking the walls of the newly built relay station with a rustling sound.
The flags of the Royal Relay Station snapped loudly in the wind, and the golden lion emblem looked especially striking beneath the dim gray sky.
The first delegation to arrive turned out to be the one from the Reinhardt Kingdom.
The old man leading it had white hair and beard. He looked as though he walked with difficulty, yet the mont he stepped into the basin, he casually released the faintest trace of pressure, sweeping across the Kroll soldiers around him.
The captain in charge of the guard changed expression slightly, but he restrained the urge to step forward and question him. His Majesty had already given clear instructions: watch, but do not move; defend, but do not attack.
Soon after, the delegations from Kadiya Kingdom, Dragon Kingdom, and the Silver Oakleaf Kingdom also arrived one after another.
The four groups stationed themselves in the four corners of the relay station. On the surface, they coexisted peacefully, but in secret, their gazes clashed, and the air was heavy with tension.
No one truly cared about the so-called “princesses.” Everyone’s eyes kept circling over one another, while also watching the road leading toward the Royal Capital.
The Foreign Race delegation, along with that legendary Domain-level old orc, still had not arrived.
Three days later, a long plu of dust rose on the horizon.
The Foreign Race delegation ca into view. At the front were six old orcs with identical profiles, each riding a Giant Wolf. Their auras were so tangible that the experts from the four kingdoms inside the relay station all frowned at once under the pressure.
“It seems all the ‘guests’ have arrived.”
The old orc reined in his wolf and swept his gaze across the four corners of the relay station, a cold smile hanging on his lips.
The other five Domain-Level foreign race experts at his side all smiled as they looked toward the opposing side.
The atmosphere in the relay station instantly dropped to freezing point.
The experts of the four kingdom delegations all rose to their feet. Invisible pressure collided in midair, forcing the surrounding soldiers to retreat several steps and tighten their grip on their weapons.
At that mont, the urgent sound of hoofbeats ca from the distance. A Kroll Palace Knight galloped over and dismounted outside the relay station in one fluid motion.
“By His Majesty’s order: tomorrow morning, the heads of all delegations will be received in the Council Hall of the Royal Capital. All Domain-Level Powerhouses are to remain here and wait.”
The knight’s voice broke the stalemate, but it did not dispel that edge of drawn-bow tension.
The old orc patted the Giant Wolf on the neck and was the first to respond. “Understood.”
The leaders of the four kingdom delegations exchanged glances, then slowly nodded as well.
