Chapter 137. The Ancient Council’s Female Angel

The Grand Elder of Dragon Island, Nakeshe, suddenly lifted his gaze toward the sky.

Above the clouds, a sacred figure slowly erged, a pair of snow-white wings spread behind her. It was the angel sent by the Ancient Council.

He spat at the sky, disdain rising between his dragon scales as he muttered under his breath,

“So the bastards from the Ancient Council ca quickly enough.”

The female angel’s brows instantly drew together. She had clearly heard that remark perfectly well.

She looked down at the golden giant dragon below, her voice as cold as ice.

“Nakeshe, killing those three Domain-Level Hydra was enough for you to vent your anger. Return to Dragon Island at once. Otherwise, the Ancient Council will hold the Dragon Emperor accountable over this matter and pursue your responsibility for it.”

Hearing that, Nakeshe threw back his head and let out a coarse laugh, then spat into the air again.

“Pursue my responsibility? Back when the Angel Clan still served under the God of Light, you were glorious beyond asure, and one beat of your wings could blot out the sky.”

“And now you’ve beco the Ancient Council’s hounds, cleaning up this rotten ss for them. You’ve truly sunk lower and lower.”

His golden vertical pupils were filled with ridicule.

“It makes dragons sick just to look at you.”

“You…”

The holy light around the female angel suddenly blazed brighter. Her wings snapped open, and a flaming longsword appeared in her hand out of thin air, its tip pointed straight at Nakeshe.

“Say that again.”

The air instantly froze.

Sacred holy light and tyrannical dragon pressure collided in the sky, setting off wave after wave of violent air currents. Even the three remaining Hydra below curled up their bodies and did not dare move recklessly.

The Domain-Level Powerhouses of the Silver Oakleaf Kingdom shrank to one side, scarcely daring to breathe.

These two stood at the very peak of the continent. Their confrontation was even more terrifying than the chaotic battle from before.

But Nakeshe did not care in the slightest. His enormous dragon claws crushed deep furrows into the ground, and dragon breath rumbled in his throat.

“I said that your Angel Clan is nothing but an empty shell now. You cannot even protect your own dignity, yet you still bow your heads and serve others. Disgusting.”

“You are courting death.”

The female angel shouted in fury. Her flaming sword slashed through the sky with a force that seed capable of burning everything away.

The golden giant dragon abruptly raised its head and spat out a concentrated stream of dragon breath, colliding head-on with the flaming sword.

In that instant, holy light and dragon fla exploded together. Half the sky was dyed gold and crimson, and the shockwave spread in every direction. The shattered remains of Magic Serpent Fortress collapsed with a thunderous crash, and the Hydra let out terrified hisses as they fled deeper into their nest.

Lying on Darwin’s back, William felt a trendous force crashing toward him and hurriedly grabbed hold of the dragon scales on Darwin’s neck.

As he looked at the two supre beings in the sky, he was stunned. A single clash between them had nearly destroyed the entire place.

Nakeshe shook his head, scattering the sparks that had landed on his dragon horns, and battle intent surged in his eyes.

“What? You want to fight? Then co and try. Let’s see whether your flaming sword is sharper, or whether this old dragon’s scales are harder.”

The female angel’s hand tightened around the hilt of her sword, trembling slightly. She had clearly been enraged beyond asure.

Holy light flowed around her body, and golden flas ignited across her wings, making her look like a war god descending into the mortal world.

Yet at that very mont, an incomparably majestic voice suddenly descended from the heavens above, as though it carried the will of the entire Dragon Clan.

“That is enough.”

The voice was not loud, yet it carried an unquestionable pressure that instantly cald the violent energy raging in the air.

“You have all lived for over ten thousand years, yet you still fight like hatchlings. Nakeshe, return to Dragon Island imdiately.”

Nakeshe looked up into the sky. A trace of reverence flashed through his golden vertical pupils, and his massive body lowered slightly in what counted as a bow.

“I obey His Majesty the Dragon Emperor’s command.”

After saying that, he glanced at William. With a light lift of his dragon claw, a gentle current of air carried William and Darwin to his side.

“Little fellow, we’re leaving.”

Before the words had even finished echoing, the golden giant dragon had already spread its wings and soared into the sky, carrying one man and one dragon away at high speed, leaving the ruins of Magic Serpent Fortress trembling in the wind behind them.

The female angel in the sky watched their departing figures and gave a cold snort. The holy light around her gradually receded.

She glanced at the chaotic battlefield below, clearly having no interest in lingering any longer. With a light motion of her jade-like finger, ripples spread through the space beside her and tore open a Gate of Light.

She stepped through it, and the Gate of Light closed at once, as though it had never appeared.

The battlefield instantly fell into dead silence.

The Domain-Level Powerhouses of the Silver Oakleaf Kingdom looked at one another, then at the wreckage covering the ground and the fleeing Hydra, their faces alternating between green and white.

The intervention of the Dragon Emperor and the Ancient Council had completely thrown their plans into ruin. At this point, trying to pursue the surviving forces of the three kingdoms was nothing more than a foolish dream.

As William flew through the sky in Nakeshe’s grasp, the roaring wind filled his ears. He lowered his head and looked at Magic Serpent Fortress growing smaller and smaller beneath him, his heart filled with complicated emotions.

“His Majesty the Dragon Emperor…” he could not help asking. “Who was that just now?”

Nakeshe’s voice ca from ahead, carrying a trace of resentnt.

“Who else could it be? The leader of the Dragon Clan. If he hadn’t spoken up, I would have torn that angel’s wings off myself.”

Nakeshe’s voice still carried lingering anger, and his dragon claws stirred impatiently through the clouds.

“A bunch of creatures who sold out their masters for glory. They’re not even as good as…”

But the words stopped abruptly on his lips, as though he could not be bothered to continue. He rely let out a low snort.

“There is no point telling you all this.”

The golden giant dragon circled once above Iron Skull Fortress, then dove straight down and landed steadily on the open ground inside the city walls.

When his claws touched the ground, a gust of wind swept up and sent loose stones skittering across the earth.

Nakeshe lowered his head and glanced at William, but said nothing more. His enormous body suddenly turned into a streak of golden light and shot into the sky, vanishing into the depths of the clouds in the blink of an eye, leaving behind only a faint sll of sulfur in the air.

William had just flipped himself off Darwin’s back when Nakeshe’s deep voice sounded in his mind, carrying a note of warning.

“In the future, use the Dragon Scale early. Use it before anything happens. If you wait until trouble starts, this old dragon may not make it in ti.”

After a brief pause, he added with a cold snort,

“As for those bastards from the Ancient Council, especially those angels, they may look glorious on the outside, but they are rotten to the core. I despise them the most.”
