Chapter 62: Loxi Sibyl

Originally, she had already planned to find an opportunity to bring up her idea to Ryan.

Her older sister, Nika, was already Ryan’s slave.

If she beca Ryan’s slave as well, then she would be able to stay with her sister forever.

Killing two birds with one stone!

And today, after hearing that Ryan had a fiancée,

she could no longer suppress that thought.

She did not dare guarantee that Ryan’s fiancée would be a kind-hearted woman.

She had heard plenty of stories about how fierce the fighting between won in a noble’s harem could be.

Her sister’s status would ultimately be a notch below the other woman’s.

She was afraid her sister would suffer in the future.

But if she also beca Ryan’s slave, it would be different.

She could join forces with her sister, and together the two of them could stand against Ryan’s fiancée.

A pair of sisters!

Twins!

Nila did not believe there was any man who could resist the charm of the two of them.

After learning what Isabella was feeling,

she wanted to persuade Isabella.

If Isabella listened to her and beca Ryan’s woman,

then Ryan would surely think more highly of her.

And if that happened, the lives of the two sisters would naturally improve as well.

“Miss!”

Nila straightened Isabella’s shoulders and said solemnly to her face, “From ancient tis to the present, good n have always had to be fought over. It does not matter whether Mister Ryan has a fiancée or not. If you like him, then go and win him for yourself.”

“I believe that with your charm, Miss, as long as you take the initiative, no man would refuse you.”

“W-Win him for myself?”

Isabella’s eyes widened.

“And besides...”

Nila paused, then continued in a coaxing tone, “As long as you can win Mister Ryan’s heart, then when you return to the Jurgen Family for revenge, do you think Mister Ryan would just stand by and watch?”

“I think Mister Ryan definitely would not let you face the Jurgen Family alone. He would absolutely help you.”

“Unless... you do not plan on going back for revenge.”

Nila’s voice turned faint and lingering.

“No, I... I’m going back. I’m going to save Mother!”

Isabella bit her lip and spoke through clenched teeth.

“Exactly. Then are you going to face them all by yourself? Those people even plotted against the family head himself. You will not be their match. When the ti cos, there is a very good chance that not only will you fail to save Lady Greta, but you will be captured as well.”

“Uh...”

Isabella froze where she stood.

She simply turned Nila’s words over and over in her heart.

She had to admit that Nila had struck right at the heart of the matter.

With her strength, rescuing her mother was nearly impossible.

Isabella bit her lower lip.

“Miss, do not rush. There is still plenty of ti. You can think about it slowly.”

Nila spoke gently.

“Mm... all right. I-I’ll think about it.”

Isabella nodded.

In truth, how could she not know that Nila was right?

It was just that she had never stolen another woman’s man before.

How was she supposed to even begin?

After thinking about it for a long while, Isabella shook her head and forced those thoughts out of her mind.

...

Starfall Magic Academy, first-year girls’ dormitory.

Creak!

The dormitory door was pushed open.

A beautiful Snow Wolf Tribe girl walked in.

It was none other than Ryan’s fiancée, Fina.

She was wearing the uniform of Starfall Magic Academy.

Her upper body was dressed in a white linen shirt with a short dark-blue jacket over it. Below, she wore a pleated skirt of the sa dark-blue color, along with a pair of black ankle boots.

“Huh? Fina, why are you back so early today?”

“Mm, the teacher said I had a good grasp of the new spell, so I was allowed to finish early today.”

Fina nodded.

“Loxi, are you still doing research?”

“Hehehe, of course I am.”

The girl nad Loxi nodded with a grin.

Her full na was Loxi Sibyl. She belonged to the Cat Spirit Tribe, and she was the sa age as Fina, eighteen.

Two triangular light-brown cat ears stood upright atop her head, the inner sides covered in creamy-white fur, while the edges of her ears were marked with darker stripes.

A slender light-brown tail trailed behind her, tapering toward the tip and covered in short, dense fur, with a small tuft of white fur at the very end.

Her hair was shoulder-length, light-brown, and curly, soft and fluffy, with a natural wavy shape. Wisps of bangs fell loosely over her forehead, partially covering her brows, while the hair at her temples rested against her cheeks.

From ti to ti, tiny petal-like motes of light drifted down from her hair. This was an inborn trait of the Cat Spirit Tribe.

She was wearing the Starfall Magic Academy uniform as well.

The Cat Spirit Tribe was also one of the Beastfolk races.

They were simply far rarer than the Snow Wolf Tribe to which Fina belonged.

The Cat Spirit Tribe was not especially strong in combat, but every mber of the tribe was deft and skillful with their hands.

It could be said that every Cat Spirit Tribe mber was a born magic tool maker.

There were only two people in this dormitory: Fina and Loxi.

After spending this ti together, the two of them had already grown very close.

Loxi’s impression of Fina was simple: a total workaholic.

That was right.

Ever since Fina had co to Starfall Magic Academy, aside from eating and sleeping when necessary, she spent every other mont studying.

Barring any surprises, Fina would definitely graduate early.

Loxi had once asked Fina why she worked so hard.

Fina’s answer had taken Loxi completely by surprise.

Fina wanted to graduate as soon as possible so that she could go find her fiancé.

When Loxi heard that, her face had filled with shock.

After all, Fina’s magic talent was B-rank.

In the future, she would undoubtedly beco a B-rank Mage.

Just what kind of person was this fiancé who made Fina care so much?

Then, when Fina said that her fiancé was not a Mage, Loxi was utterly stunned.

She had not expected Fina to be such a hopeless romantic.

To the people of this world,

Mages generally only married and had children with other Mages.

That was because the chances of their descendants becoming Mages would be very high.

But if a Mage married and had children with an ordinary person,

then the probability of their descendants becoming Mages would drop drastically.

It was not as though there had never been couples who married for true love before.

But those couples had never ended well.

Of course, Fina knew exactly what Loxi was thinking.

So she told Loxi about her history with Ryan.

After hearing it, Loxi stopped trying to persuade her.

Childhood sweethearts, plus a hero saving the beauty!

Loxi could only shut her mouth.

And Fina had also co to regard Loxi as a true friend.

Fina’s impression of Loxi was this: a research maniac.

It was not an insult, but praise.

Loxi did have magic talent, but it was not very high, only C-rank.

However, her talent for making magic tools was even greater.

The most remarkable magic tool Loxi had ever created was the Language Translator.

The Language Translator took the form of an earring, with the pendant engraved all over with densely packed voice runes.

After the user put it on, it could automatically analyze any unknown language within a radius of fifty ters, convert it into a language familiar to the wearer, and transmit it into their ear. At the sa ti, it could convert the wearer’s own speech into the corresponding language and send it out, breaking down the language barriers between different races.

Because this world had so many races, it also had many different languages.

The most commonly used were the Continental Common Tongue, the Human Common Tongue, Beast Tongue, and Elven.

Among humans, there were also many regional dialects.

So dialects were so obscure that not only could people of other races not understand them, even humans themselves could not understand one another’s dialects.

Before the Language Translator appeared,

communication between races required people either to learn several languages or to travel with an interpreter.

Fortunately, this was a world where magic existed.

With the aid of magic, a Mage’s learning efficiency could be greatly increased, so mastering several languages did not take too much ti.

But once the Language Translator appeared,

people no longer needed to learn so many languages.

If they wanted to communicate with a particular race, they only had to switch the Language Translator to that race.

Because of the trendous significance of the Language Translator,

people gave Loxi a very flattering nickna: Magic Tool Virtuoso.

Even among the Cat Spirit Tribe, Loxi’s talent in magic tool crafting was among the very best.

One thing that had left a deep impression on Fina was the look on Loxi’s face when she first saw the Desert Eagle Ryan had given her.

How should she have described that expression?

Delight, curiosity, scrutiny, obsession, and more.

And after learning about the Desert Eagle’s power, Loxi beca even more eager to study it.

For a research maniac like Loxi, this kind of brand-new magic tool was an enormous temptation.

Unfortunately, Fina refused.

There was no helping it.

She knew all too well what happened to anything Loxi got her hands on for research.

Having it fall apart on the spot was already a good outco.

Its final fate was usually being reduced to a few leftover parts and mories.

How could she possibly allow Loxi to dismantle her Desert Eagle?

This was the token of love Ryan had given her back then.

Whenever Ryan was not by her side, she relied on that Desert Eagle to think of him.

But even after Fina rejected her once, Loxi still refused to give up.

Whenever she had the chance, Loxi would ask Fina again if she could study the Desert Eagle.

But every single ti, Fina refused.

That left Loxi itching more and more inside.

For a research-oriented magic tool maker,

being unable to study this brand-new magic tool right in front of her was pure torture.

The cruelest torture imaginable.

But Loxi had no choice.

In terms of combat ability alone,

even ten of her combined would not be a match for Fina.

So every ti Fina took out the Desert Eagle,

Loxi would simply stare at it longingly.

She hoped that one day she would finally move Fina enough to make her agree.

And yet more than two months had already passed, and Fina still had not relented.

“I am telling you right now, this Desert Eagle was a gift from my fiancé. There is no way I am letting you study it, so you should give up on that idea already!”

Fina warned her.

“Tch, I know, I know! You have said it more than once already. Honestly, sotis I really want to see just what kind of person your fiancé is, to make you this smitten!”

Loxi pouted.

“He is an incredibly amazing person! And besides, the Desert Eagle you are so interested in was made by him.”

Fina spoke proudly.

She knew that her roommate held a very high standing in the field of magic tools.

But even Loxi was deeply interested in the magic tool Ryan had created. Did that not prove that Ryan was amazing too?

“When he cos to see , I will introduce you to him.”

“All right, then I’ll look forward to it.”
