Mo Yunjian silently took one of the scrolls, eyes flicking across its content. "A reconnaissance ledger. They were surveying spirit vein fluctuations... cross-referencing with ley line resonance..."

Elder Hei nodded. "Likely searching for a site. Maybe an anchor point."

"That confirms the rumors," Qing Shan muttered. "They’ve been hunting for leyline crossings—perhaps to install a spiritual pylon or link to this hidden altar they are searching for. If they anchor sothing near the caldera, and it reacts to volcanic qi... it could beco a weapon, or worse, a spiritual intrusion point."

"This skeleton... this Magma Ancestor, we need to look into this too," Bai Zhen stated.

"Indeed. I’ve never heard of sothing like this. Perhaps we need to consult so ancient records," Qing Shan said. "Han Yu certainly went through an adventure to get all this," he added.

Mo Yunjian’s eyes darkened. "And yet the disciple returned early, defying his mission duration."

Elder Hei bowed again. "Yes, Patriarch. He claid the urgency of the information warranted the violation. I questioned him closely. His story is consistent, but there are omissions. I suspect he left out pieces deliberately."

Bai Zhen scoffed. "So he’s clever. Or hiding sothing."

"Both," Elder Hei replied. "But I believe his omissions are self-serving, not malicious. The scrolls are intact. He hasn’t forged them. And he sought out directly, bypassing lesser disciples—he knows the value of what he found."

Mo Yunjian fell silent, rubbing his thumb over a jade ring on his index finger.

"Han Yu... that’s the servant-turned-disciple from outer court, yes?"

"The sa," Elder Hei confird. "Troubleso reputation. Managed to enter through special exception. He’s had... so troubling encounters with a few disciple factions. But he’s proven useful on more than one occasion."

"I’ve read his previous reports," Qing Shan said. "There’s always a degree of performance to his writing. He knows how to control narrative."

"And how to conceal things behind apparent honesty," Bai Zhen added. "If he’s withholding information, I’d wager it’s sothing significant."

"Should we question him further?" Elder Hei asked.

Mo Yunjian waved a hand. "No. Not yet."

All three elders looked toward him.

"He’s already spun a careful web. If we press now, he may entrench himself. No—let him believe his narrative was accepted. Monitor him. Quietly. See who he speaks to. If he acts alone or reports to soone."

Bai Zhen’s eyes lit with cold amusent. "Surveillance. The boy might squirm."

"He’s clever," Mo Yunjian said softly, "but cleverness isn’t immunity. If he’s truly loyal, we’ll benefit. If not... we’ll learn."

Qing Shan folded the maps carefully. "The larger problem is the Mist Eye Sect. Their movents match patterns we’ve tracked for the past year. Minor probes. Hidden formations. Now this."

"I will double the periter sentries on our side of the caldera," Bai Zhen said. "And increase shadow patrols along the ley lines."

"Good," Mo Yunjian said. "Make no public moves. For now, we pretend we are blind. Let them think their secrecy holds."

Then, with a brief pause, the patriarch added:

"And keep an eye on the disciple. Han Yu."

A week passed relatively calmly.

Han Yu was completely unaware of the fact that even the Patriarch of the Twin Leaf Peak Sect, Mo Yunjian, had taken an interest in him and had asked the elders to pay attention to him.

But even if he knew, he couldn’t be bothered with it, as he was currently dealing with a great matter on his own.

Thankfully for him, this was no troubleso matter but one that brought him a lot of joy.

Currently, he was surrounded by hundreds of wisps of light. So of them were grey in color, so were orange. So were red, so were violet, a few green, and more yellow.

The grey wisps of light were the majority, comprising nearly eighty percent of the wisps. The orange ones were the second highest, consisting of ten percent of the wisps, while the red and violet took up eight percent. The final yellow and green took up the last four percent, being the small minority.

"How in the..." Han Yu couldn’t believe his eyes.

These were none other than Eight Emotions Energy wisps!

Seeing so many around him, and more of them coming from the distance, he didn’t know what was happening.

"How the fuck are so many Eight Emotions Energy wisps coming my way? I didn’t even do anything this week?" He couldn’t place his finger on it.

With such a fortune around him though, Han Yu couldn’t sit still and only observed them for a couple of minutes before quickly sitting down to absorb them.

HUALA

Wisp after wisp of Eight Emotions Energy was absorbed into his body before quickly entering his Soul Space, where they were refined by his Soul Core, the Eight Emotions Lotus, turning into pure Soul Qi!

So of the Soul Qi was directly absorbed by the Eight Emotions Lotus, while the rest settled in his Soul Space, growing his stores.

Bit by bit, his Soul Qi continued to grow.

At first it was slow, but the speed increased as the Eight Emotions Lotus matched its pace with the incoming Eight Emotions Energy.

Han Yu felt the emotions contained within the wisps while also feeling his power surge.

The process lasted a long ti, with Han Yu sitting still for nearly three days. In this ti, the surge of incoming Eight Emotions Energy didn’t decrease, but even increased a bit. Overall, it was a steady flow.

The boy couldn’t be bothered to wonder where it was coming from. He was content with them coming to him so easily.

On the fourth day, the flow of Eight Emotions Energy reduced to a faint trickle, with only one or two wisps coming his way every hour or so.

At this rate, he didn’t need to actively absorb or refine them, as that could automatically be done by his Soul Core.

"Huuu..." Han Yu let out a breath as he observed his Soul Space, which now had a small sea of Soul Qi swirling within it.
