Xu Qing looked at Han Yu and spoke.
"Your cultivation is at the Seventh Tribulation Stage of the Body Tempering realm. Not enough for normal recruitnt, but your talent makes up for it," she stated.
But she never expected the reaction that she would be getting from Han Yu.
Han Yu's eyes widened. "I'm talented?"
He grinned. "OF COURSE, I AM! I KNEW THE SECTS WOULD RECOGNIZE THE TALENT OF I, HAN YU!"
Seeing him act like that, Xu Qing couldn't help but cringe.
"Dammit... He's one of them." She sighed, holding her forehead.
It was not the first ti she had seen soone like this. The last ti she had gone to recruit people, it had been the sa. She had recruited nearly eight children back then, with one of them being highly talented.
This was also the sa child that had been stolen away by Senior Brother Wang.
The other seven children had diocre talent but were decent enough to join a sect. Of course, two of them had been rather arrogant and had acted the sa way. She had also t many others who thought they were heaven's chosen the mont she showed interest in them.
Of course, she had rejected them after seeing the limits of their talent.
'This is why I don't like to do recruitnts.' Xu Qing thought to herself. 'Why does the sect even need these recruitnts? We get tens of thousands of applicants in our regular intakes anyway.' She wondered.
Most sects had regular recruitnts on top of the selective ones where they sent out disciples.
The regular recruitnts were open to anyone who could prove they had the ability to cultivate. The age requirent was also lower since this was mostly to fill up the lower ranks of the sect.
These recruitnts happened less often, mostly once a decade.
People would travel long distances to reach the sect in the hopes of joining. For those who couldn't participate in selective recruitnt, this was their only chance. Thus, they tried hard to get in.
Even a forty-year-old cultivator who had barely reached the Early Stage of the Qi Refining realm would be considered qualified enough to join. Of course, they would be assigned the lowest rank, and their chances of progressing would be slim at best.
But it was still the most lucrative option for them, as it ant changing their entire lifestyle.
"HAHAHA! Then everyone shall one day bow down to my glory!" Han Yu proclaid.
"Enough!" Xu Qing shouted, feeling exhausted by this charade.
"Okay." Han Yu imdiately cald down, his past trauma kicking in.
SIGH
Xu Qing shook her head and took a deep breath before looking at the boy.
"We still have a long journey ahead of us. We best get going," Xu Qing stated.
"Alright. But where are we going?" Han Yu asked. "The Twin Leaf Peak Sect?"
"Yes, we need to reach there as soon as possible," Xu Qing replied.
"Why are you in such a hurry, though? Isn't the sect recruitnt supposed to last a few weeks at least?" Han Yu said before recalling sothing. "Wait... Isn't the sect recruitnt supposed to start a few days from now?" he realized.
"I just like to be early," Xu Qing said, not wanting to elaborate.
"I see." Han Yu replied, not thinking much about it. "Though still... is it fine to just take ?" he wondered.
He had seen past recruitnts, and they usually took multiple children.
"There weren't any others," Xu Qing replied. "I already looked through the town."
"No wonder." Han Yu replied. "Of course, who else could be as qualified as I, Han Yu!" he declared grandly.
"Shut up!" Xu Qing snapped, losing her patience again.
WHOOSH
Her sword floated beside her, a nacing glint reflecting off it, making Han Yu close his mouth imdiately.
The imminent threat to his life was a lot more convincing than re words.
SHUA
Xu Qing controlled the sword to float in front of her before she hopped on.
"Get on," she ordered.
"On this?" Han Yu hesitated. "This is too narrow. Do you have sothing bigger?" he asked.
"No." Xu Qing replied. "Do you think spirit weapons grow on trees?" she asked.
"Makes sense..." Han Yu muttered as he reluctantly got on. "WHOA!" he almost fell off as the sword swayed under him.
Xu Qing raised the sword higher, making Han Yu panic even more.
"Damn, if I fall from this height, I'll definitely break a bone or two," Han Yu said nervously. "You sure you have nothing broader? An axe or sothing? Or if not that, can you add so guardrails to this sword? I'd like sothing to hold onto." He chattered in fear.
"Guardrails? On a Spirit Sword?" Xu Qing raised a brow. "You think this is a joke?" she asked.
"Joke? Workplace safety is no joke!" Han Yu replied. "What if I fall off and die? Then you would have no one to bring back to the sect," he pointed out.
"Hmm..." Xu Qing couldn't entirely deny it.
Technically, it was also her first ti bringing soone along on a Spirit Sword. Carrying Han Yu on her back was one thing, but after their last experience, she didn't want to do it again.
"Hold onto my shoulders, then," Xu Qing suggested.
"Is that fine?" Han Yu asked, hesitant.
"Do it before I change my mind!" Xu Qing gritted her teeth.
"Okay, okay!" Han Yu said, quickly grabbing onto her shoulders.
She was taller than him, so it was a bit awkward, but he still managed to hold on.
SHUA
The sword continued to rise until they were nearly twenty ters off the ground. Han Yu's legs felt weak as he did his best to balance and hold on for dear life.
"If I die, bury with dignity!" Han Yu shouted, gripping her shoulders tighter.
"Shut up before I drop you myself!" Xu Qing snapped.
"Noted!" Han Yu replied, his voice an octave higher than usual.
As they soared into the sky, Han Yu vowed to himself that if he survived this, he would demand that the sect invest in sothing with an actual seat.
