In the vast prival forest, on a tall tree, Luo Zheng was observing the battle ahead amidst the torrential rain. He never expected the one being pursued to be Cheng He. Looking disheveled, Cheng He was sprinting frantically in the downpour, about to be caught. The pursuers, dressed in camouflage, concealed their identities.
"What's the matter?" Ghost Hand noticed sothing was amiss with Luo Zheng and prompted.
"It's Cheng He." Luo Zheng reacted quickly and said.
"Cheng He?" Ghost Hand was shocked, showing an incredulous expression. How could they encounter Cheng He here, and being pursued, what was happening?
"Xue Er, bring the team up imdiately, I've found Cheng He, provide support." Luo Zheng shouted swiftly. This was a rare opportunity, they had to capture Cheng He to find out what was going on. If the pursuers killed him, it would be troubleso. Saying this, Luo Zheng quickly aid, locked on a pursuer about to shoot, and pulled the trigger first.
"Whoosh!" The sniper bullet whistled out of the barrel, its sound indistinguishable in the torrential rain, yet it flew with Luo Zheng's shock and worry, tearing through the rainy space, piercing through the rain, instantly embedding into the target's head. The target's head exploded like a waterlon, with red and white matter splattering everywhere. The body flew a long distance, crashing into a tree and falling down, appearing especially eerie in the rain.
The sudden gunfire startled everyone, and the pursuers quickly hid, moving swiftly. Luo Zheng had no chance for a second shot. Considering exposure, he and Ghost Hand quickly slid down from the tree. At this ti, Lan Xue and Mountain Eagle led the action team to surround the area. Luo Zheng shouted, "Quick, wipe out all the pursuers."
"Yes." Mountain Eagle responded and charged forward with the team. Everyone had seen Cheng He's photo and wouldn't misfire. Luo Zheng wasn't worried and said to Lan Xue and Ghost Hand, "I didn't expect it was Cheng He. Let's go catch him. We can't let him get away." Saying this, they rushed towards Cheng He's direction.
The three of them dispersed and moved forward rapidly. They quickly spotted Cheng He, hiding behind a large tree. Perhaps confused by the sudden attack, he panted heavily, vigilantly observing the surroundings. He soon noticed Luo Zheng and his team forming a pincer movent, unfamiliar and unrecognized. Seeing the encirclent, Cheng He realized he couldn't escape unless he retreated, but there were pursuers behind him, more dangerous. Facing the gunpoint, he didn't move recklessly, straightforwardly coming forward.
Luo Zheng rushed up, seeing that the opponent had no weapons on him, secretly breathed a sigh of relief. Cheng He also looked at Luo Zheng in surprise, the sa yellow skin, black eyes, his face beca serious. At this mont, Luo Zheng raised his sniper rifle and coldly asked, "Cheng He?"
The familiar language made Cheng He freeze, suddenly realizing sothing, his face turning pale, he relaxed powerlessly, giving up resistance, and said bitterly, "Huaxia Country's soldier?"
"It's not easy finding you. Where's the thing?" Luo Zheng went straight to the point.
"The thing?" Cheng He showed an awkward expression, staring at Luo Zheng fixedly, his eyes flickering with a complex expression as if making so decision. Seeing Luo Zheng impatiently about to make a move, he hurriedly asked, "Tell your code number, so I can judge if you have the capability to retrieve it."
"What, the thing isn't with you?" Ghost Hand was furious, smashing a gunstock at Cheng He, knocking him down, and kicked him again. They had risked their lives to get there, finally found the person they needed, and the item wasn't there, making Ghost Hand's anger boil over.
Luo Zheng didn't stop him but coldly watched Cheng He, saying, "You're not qualified to ask for our code number. Just tell us, where's the thing?"
"I don't know either." Cheng He smiled bitterly.
"Bastard, do you have a death wish?" Ghost Hand was about to strike again.
Luo Zheng noticed Cheng He surprisingly didn't intend to resist, showing a willing-to-be-punished look. Realizing sothing was odd, he imdiately held Ghost Hand back, looking at Cheng He, and said, "You were also once a soldier. I didn't expect you to do this. Tell us, what exactly happened?"
"?" Cheng He was troubled, seeing Mountain Eagle leading people to gather around, all ard with sniper rifles, the pursuers chasing him all being killed, none surviving, his face turned pale again. He surprisingly sized up Luo Zheng again, cautiously asking, "Who are you really?"
"Does it matter?" Luo Zheng coldly replied.
"It matters, very much so. If you're strong enough, I'll tell you everything. If not, I don't want you to die." Cheng He quickly explained, his face showing a complex expression, letting the torrential rain beat down on him without a flinch, his eyes flickering with a complex brilliance.
"No need for kindness, just speak. The brothers ca a long way here, not to go back just because of your words." Luo Zheng impatiently retorted.
"Alright, I will tell you." Cheng He, from the squad's equipnt and the aura they exuded, could almost confirm that Luo Zheng and his n were from Huaxia Country's military, his forr comrades. He said bitterly, "I used Sam Country Special Agent to attack the research base. I believe you've already discovered this. I also deliberately left behind contact clues to lead you to Sam Country, creating the illusion that the thing was already in Sam Country's hands. Unexpectedly, you still tracked it down here. I don't care who you are, but at least you're from Huaxia Country, better with you than those bastards. But I have one condition, let take you to find it."
"Why?" Luo Zheng questioned suspiciously.
"I doubt you'll believe it but, a few years ago, I was still serving in the troops. During one mission, the whole team was wiped out, and I was the only one who returned with injuries. I then retired to the research base as a guard, I believe you've already investigated this?" Cheng He looked seriously at Luo Zheng and asked.
"Of course, get to the point." Luo Zheng coldly replied.
"The point is, during that mission, my comrades were captured to cover for . I thought they were all dead. Half a year later, soone approached , wanting to infiltrate the research base to steal an activation device, or they'd kill my comrades. I confird they were still alive, helplessly agreeing." Cheng He said painfully.
"How could a retired soldier easily infiltrate a research base?" Lan Xue keenly noticed sothing and asked, her expression becoming serious.
Cheng He smiled bitterly, "I had no background, no wealth, how could I easily infiltrate the research base? The base leaders ca to our troops to select guards. I was about to retire, didn't et the standards, but the base head specifically nad , saying retired Special Forces had strong capabilities, exactly what the base needed. I suspect he had been bribed, otherwise how could he help soone like ?"
"Who is it?" Lan Xue heard and indeed suspected an insider, imdiately asked.
