Back at the base, Luo Zheng gathered a few officers and explained in detail what he had discovered. He sketched a rough map on the ground, suggesting that everyone study it first and then discuss it in a eting later. Then, he and Lan Xue found a place to rest, having traveled nonstop for a day and a night. Their bodies were quite weary, as the enemy was too formidable, and they needed to maintain their best condition.
The officers had already rested for a few hours and regained much of their energy. They gathered to discuss and simulate various battle plans, but all to no avail, leading to deep frustration. A few hours later, Luo Zheng woke up, feeling much clearer-headed. Looking at the sky, it was nearing dusk. He had so rations and then summoned the officers for a eting.
Nobody had thought of a solution, and everyone looked awkward. Luo Zheng understood and smiled wryly. The enemy was too strong, and the defenses were tight. Breaking through was not easy. After pondering for a mont, he said, "The situation is more complicated than we imagined. It seems we need to plan long-term. We can't attack head-on; we can only win with intelligence."
"Have you thought of a way?" Lan Xue asked in surprise.
"Our primary task is to sabotage the enemy's radar array, located in a natural sinkhole behind the main peak. We haven't seen the specific situation, so we can only analyze the location roughly based on reconnaissance. There are many troops stationed around it, with trench positions distributed in tiers. To destroy the radar array, we must pass through these trench positions, which ans exposure," Luo Zheng said helplessly.
"Yes, the enemy must be guarding the radar array tightly," Lan Xue said angrily in agreent.
Everyone understood the logic, but breaking through was not easy, and they all began to ponder. Luo Zheng's expression turned serious as he earnestly said, "It seems we can only take a risk."
"Do you have a plan?" Lan Xue eagerly pressed, and the others all looked to Luo Zheng, listening attentively.
"This base has a road leading outside, which everyone should know by now. I have an idea: let Scholar take people to ambush on the road. Once you spot the enemy, attack and eliminate them, drawing the attention of the base garrison. Make your move as far away as possible, leave observation posts, and tily gather intelligence," Luo Zheng said seriously.
"Yes." Scholar agreed without hesitation, fully confident in Luo Zheng's capabilities.
"Once the enemy moves out, Scholar, you arrange for half of your troops to ambush en route. Choose the ambush sites in advance, plant mines, engage if you can, retreat if you can't. This requires your forces to split in half—decide for yourself; any questions?" Luo Zheng continued to instruct.
After considering it for a mont, Scholar firmly said, "No problem."
"Good. This way, the enemy will think soone is ambushing them, and a second ambush will make them take notice. Once the second ambush starts, Snow Leopard." Luo Zheng continued to arrange.
"Here." Snow Leopard replied fiercely.
"You lead your team to infiltrate from the south; choose the location and target yourself. Once the second ambush starts, seize the opportunity to act. Fight however you see fit, but you must be ruthless. Make the enemy think we're striking east to hit west. The purpose of the first two attacks is to cover your assault, letting the enemy believe that our plan is limited to these steps, so choose your target wisely," Luo Zheng said sternly.
"No problem. Based on the intelligence you've provided, there's a garrison command post on the south side. I'll infiltrate with my team first, then suddenly attack. This requires at least an hour of preparation in advance," Snow Leopard said fiercely, as if taking down the southern command post were an easy task.
After pondering for a mont, Luo Zheng said, "It's quite difficult, but the target is valuable. It's at least a regintal command level. If successful, it would avenge our fallen comrades. Rember, the attack must not exceed one minute. Withdraw imdiately after the attack; I don't want any casualties."
"Yes." Snow Leopard answered earnestly.
"Ghost Hand, your team and I will disguise as Japanese. Once the second ambush starts, we'll move up by pretending to strengthen their defenses, wearing ninja clothes and speaking Japanese. With fights everywhere, the Yue Country Army will find it hard to discern the truth; there's a fifty percent chance it will work," Luo Zheng continued to arrange.
"Great, this is just my kind of thing." Ghost Hand, hearing this, was overjoyed and agreed imdiately.
"Prepare more button bombs at that ti; don't bring anything other than weapons," Luo Zheng instructed.
"Yes." Ghost Hand readily agreed.
"What about ?" Mountain Eagle asked anxiously, looking at Luo Zheng. Everyone had a task, and he couldn't just sit idle.
"You set up defenses in the area behind the mountain, ready to snipe and cover our retreat when necessary," Luo Zheng continued, pointing to a position on the terrain map.
"Yes." Mountain Eagle imdiately understood, agreeing wholeheartedly. Luo Zheng and others needed to disguise and infiltrate, passing through multiple layers of blockade, which was most dangerous. If exposed, they would indeed need cover for retreat. Realizing this, Mountain Eagle felt a heavy pressure and thought about communicating well with his squad to avoid any mishaps.
"I expect our earpieces may not communicate smoothly, so everyone should handle their tasks independently. Set the ti for after nine at night. The first ambush timing is uncertain and requires a target; the second is even harder to determine. Thus, everyone's action ti will be based on the second gunfire. Withdraw imdiately after the fight and regroup here the next day. Any questions?" Luo Zheng sternly instructed.
"No." Everyone replied softly.
"Ten minutes to prepare, and then act." Luo Zheng ordered softly.
"Yes." Everyone dispersed to debrief their teams.
Luo Zheng didn't move, running through the plan in his mind again. Finding no flaws, he secretly breathed a sigh of relief. This battle plan was a last resort. If possible, Luo Zheng would prefer not to take risks. Lan Xue understood Luo Zheng's feelings. The enemy's defenses were tight, and no better options existed. Ti was tight, and any delay was unacceptable; they could only proceed this way. Lan Xue patted Luo Zheng's shoulder, gently saying, "On the battlefield, there's no absolute certainty. Having a plan is better than fumbling blindly. No one objected, so it's worth a try. Don't worry."
"What I worry about is that the enemy might have more elite troops hiding. Jackson appearing here ans there's surely Special Forces from Sam Country, possibly Yue's army. If Sam Country's Special Forces get involved, the situation will beco complicated," Luo Zheng said worriedly.
"Luckily, your plan focuses on the radar array raid, while the other places are just opportunities to be seized or abandoned. Everyone can still retreat," Lan Xue reassured.
Luo Zheng nodded, said nothing further, and began to check his weapon. No matter what, they had to make a go of it.
