"Bang!" A gunshot rang out, shocking everyone and causing them to retreat, but the bullet hit the ceiling. At the critical mont, Ghost Hand stepped in. Steve looked at Ghost Hand with suspicion—the person who cornered him. Ghost Hand snatched the opponent's pistol, disard it in a few moves, and handed it back coldly, saying, "Want to die? It's not that easy. You can't die until the truth is found. If you don't find the truth, I'll personally take your life."
"Alright, I'll store this life for now," Steve reacted gratefully. The corner of his eye caught a glimpse of his President deep in thought, showing no intention to stop him, making Steve bitter. Steve knew very well the President hoped he would commit suicide; if he had been forced to death by Huaxia Country, he would beco a scapegoat for everything.
With this thought, Steve turned cold-faced and hurried away to continue pursuing the truth. He saw clearly the President wanted him dead for political considerations, but as a man, Steve changed his mind. He couldn't die until the truth was uncovered.
The tense atmosphere dissipated with Steve's departure. Everyone scattered and kept a distance from Hong ihua and others. Just then, the light of another ergency room turned on. The Chairman was wheeled out, and everyone rushed forward. The attending doctor removed his mask and said in international language: "Everyone, please step aside, keep the air flowing. The patient is not in danger, don't worry, just needs a few days of rest."
Hong ihua and others secretly breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this. As long as the Chairman was okay, their guilt lessened. Now, they were waiting for Luo Zheng. The host nation's President imdiately arranged the highest-grade ward for the Chairman to rest and deployed nurous guards. He started a private conversation with the Chairman in the ward.
Ghost Hand ca quietly to Lan Xue's side and whispered, "Captain, which country do you think did this?"
"It's hard to say. Unfortunately, we can't intervene in the investigation," Lan Xue said coldly.
"Steve must have found sothing. It's hard to say in front of so many people. It seems we'll have to wait until the brother wakes up and let him ask. They have so personal ties; getting intelligence shouldn't be a big problem. Should we prepare sothing?" Ghost Hand whispered.
"Alright, I heard from the bodyguard squad leader that the Wutou Grass outside is a poisonous grass. Let him prepare so. Since the enemy used poison to kill our people, we need not be courteous." Lan Xue instructed in a low voice.
"Understood, I'll arrange it," Ghost Hand whispered, glanced at Hong ihua, hesitated, but ultimately said nothing. He pulled the squad leader to a secluded place for a quiet conversation. The scope of retaliation and revenge was too broad; it wasn't necessary for too many people to get involved.
After waiting at the ward door for a while, the host nation's President ca out with his entourage and hurriedly left. Senior officials entered the ward. Hong ihua disliked such formal social situations and didn't go in. Lan Xue signaled Zhongnanhai bodyguards to guard the surroundings and went to the ergency room where the person she cared for most was.
Seeing Lan Xue leave, Hong ihua guessed sothing and quickly caught up. After a few steps, a shout ca from behind. The two turned to see a Zhongnanhai bodyguard saying the Chairman invited them in. They were stunned, exchanged a glance, saw many high-ranking officials coming out of the ward, nodded in agreent, and went to the ward.
"Close the door." The Chairman said, sitting on the bed, leaning on a pillow, with intravenous drips in hand, looking much better but more fatigued. Being elderly, it was a miracle he withstood all this.
Hong ihua closed the door. The Chairman glanced at Lan Xue, pointed to the nearby chairs, signaling them to sit down, seriously saying, "I understand your feelings, but you must keep everyone together. At this mont, absolutely nothing can be done recklessly to avoid being used."
"What do you an?" Lan Xue's face sank, and she asked.
"This visit aims for deep cooperation with this country, considering national strategy. Sam Country least wishes for our success. Whoever disrupts behind the scenes, if our two countries beco enemies, it's against national interest. The President discussed with earlier, willing to enhance cooperation, and a preliminary consensus has been reached. For national interest, I hope you understand," the Chairman explained seriously.
"But what about the revenge? Our n can't die for nothing." Hong ihua glanced at Lan Xue and asked.
"Of course. They've tracked so leads pointing to Yin Country, aning Yin Country made a move. But lacking direct evidence, to avoid escalating conflicts and tensions, the President didn't tell you the truth but assured for accountability," the Chairman explained.
"His words are unreliable," Lan Xue said coldly.
"I know, their capability can't handle Yin Country. But we can seize more benefits. The host nation is also a victim; targeting them ans little. Our enemy should be Yin Country. I promise when you return to Yin Country, you decide what to do, and I'll provide any support, even if it leads to war," said the Chairman seriously.
"But?" Lan Xue anxiously said.
"Alright, Xue Er, having the Chairman's promise is enough. Rember, the Chairman nearly sacrificed himself. He tolerated the host nation's incompetence, why can't we? For national interest, the Chairman compromised, why can't we? Rember, our real enemy is Yin Country, not the host nation that also suffered. Go after Yin Country for revenge," Hong ihua promptly interrupted Lan Xue, comforting.
Lan Xue was reasonable. After thinking, she said, "Going to Yin Country is definite. As long as he's safe, I won't pursue the host nation's negligence; otherwise, I can't guarantee what I'll do. Then, please, the Chairman can revoke my citizenship. I understand the rules; I won't implicate the country."
"Don't be foolish. If there's a problem, I'll sanction any of your actions and revoke your citizenship, but secretly, you're always the nation's most loyal guardians. The nation will still support you. That's the rule. By the way, how is Ghost?" The Chairman seriously looked at Lan Xue.
"I still don't know the result." Lan Xue's expression dimd, whispering, showing pain.
"Alright, you go. Once Ghost wakes, tell imdiately." The Chairman seriously instructed.
"Yes." They agreed in unison and exited the ward.
At the door, Ghost Hand happened to co over. Lan Xue whispered, "Don't act recklessly."
"Don't worry, I understand," Ghost Hand whispered.
Hong ihua sensed they were hiding actions from her, thought for a mont, decided not to ask, sighed silently, and walked towards the ergency room.
