Madela was exhausted, but seeing that Ghost Hand still had the energy to fire at the pursuing troops, he was quite impressed and laughed, "No problem, the distance from the mountaintop to the foot is about fifteen hundred ters. It's just your turn to hit them; they can't hit you. Have fun; give three minutes to catch my breath. I also have a few bullets left here for you." He said, handing over so sniper rifle bullets to Ghost Hand.
"Alright, no rush, we have all the ti. This bunch of bastards probably won't give up until they catch us, afraid we'll have to wait until night to escape." Ghost Hand said as he took the bullets and began aiming at the enemies at the foot of the mountain. As an Elite Soldier King, Ghost Hand could certainly use a sniper rifle, though not as masterfully as Luo Zheng, but not bad either.
The mountainside was covered in forest, making it difficult to aim. Ghost Hand finally found an opportunity to shoot and quickly fired. Through the sniper scope, Luo Zheng saw the target fall, unclear if dead or alive, as the view was blocked by trees. However, the gunfire made the enemies all hit the deck and halt their pursuit.
This was exactly the effect Ghost Hand wanted; as long as the enemies stayed put, he couldn't be bothered to shoot. After waiting for two minutes, seeing the enemies slowly getting up, he quickly aid at a target and pulled the trigger again. The enemies dropped and hid once more. Ghost Hand smirked coldly, continuing to search for enemies, firing whenever he saw an opportunity, here a shot, there a shot, scaring the enemies into not daring to move recklessly, slowing their pursuit to a near halt.
"Huh?" Suddenly, Ghost Hand realized a problem. The enemies earlier were ferociously relentless, not caring for their lives, so why were they cautious now? He cautiously searched and found enemies densely packed everywhere, growing more curious. After thinking for a mont, he rushed to the other side of the mountain to observe, suddenly discovering a team frantically climbing up, which angered him to no end—it was a distraction tactic playing out before him.
"Swoosh!" Ghost Hand fired a shot in the direction of the enemies, the bullet howled out of the barrel, roaring with Ghost Hand's endless anger, tearing a terrifying death shockwave through the forest. In a flash, it struck a big tree as thick as a bowl, exploding it open. The bullet maintained its montum, changing direction slightly and continued forward, instantly piercing a target's chest, blood gushing, the target's body stiffened and collapsed with eyes full of unwilling confusion, not understanding why he was hit.
"Bastard." Ghost Hand cursed angrily. The enemies were obscured by trees, having no idea that his shot had been effective. He quickly searched again and soon spotted another target hiding beneath a big tree. Ghost Hand aid over and angrily pulled the trigger.
"Swoosh!" The bullet emitted a terrifying screech, fiercely striking the tree, boring deep in and creating a massive bullet hole. The bullet irregularly changed direction and ca out the other side, striking the target's ear squarely.
"Ah—" The enemy clutched his ear and cried out in agony, rolling on the ground with his hands covered in blood. A figure resembling a leader rushed over, his face grim, raised his handgun, aid, and coldly pulled the trigger, yelling angrily.
Nearby pursuers heard their leader's roar and echoed out, howling as they charged out from cover, rushing wildly up the mountain. Ghost Hand saw the enemies going crazy again, his expression changed slightly, he quickly fired a shot without checking the result, and retreated swiftly, saying seriously to Madela, "How about it? We need to retreat, getting flanked from both sides."
"Saw it, let's go." Madela nodded, understanding the urgency, picked up his weapon, and dashed out.
The two sprinted in one direction along the mountainside, rushing down to the foot in one breath. By then, Madela caught up and shouted, "Man, we don't need to dash around recklessly, it's been quite a while, our guys must have moved far by now. Let's head towards our n, by the ti we catch up, we'll probably be on Basto's territory."
"Makes sense, let's go." Ghost Hand's eyes lit up, he agreed while opening his communicator.
The communicator quickly connected to the satellite, and Lan Xing's concerned voice ca through the earpiece, "How's it going, Ghost Hand?"
"I've got a pack of mad dogs on my tail, I'm almost exhausted to the point of collapse, how far are they from Basto's territory, and get my location quickly." Ghost Hand replied urgently.
"You better not get into any trouble, your sister-in-law is still waiting for you. Hang tight a mont." Lan Xing teased as he felt relieved, seeing Ghost Hand still in the mood for jokes.
Before long, Lan Xing's voice ca through the earpiece again, "They're only five kiloters from Basto's territory, but you're quite a bit off course, about over twenty kiloters away."
"Give the directions right away, I'll catch up, and by the ti I reach them we'll likely be on Basto's territory. Hopefully, that Basto's reliable, otherwise, it'll be like sheep to the wolves. They can cover five kiloters in an hour tops, we can cover twenty in two, even if they take two hours for five, it's still doable." Ghost Hand replied promptly, feeling relieved.
"Head thirty degrees to the left up ahead, this straight line leads to their position." Lan Xing instructed promptly.
Ghost Hand calculated the angle and direction, and charged forward with Madela. After running about a few hundred ters, Ghost Hand glanced back to see enemies climbing the mountaintop and pursuing along the path, his expression turned grim, he clenched his teeth with hatred, wanting to stop and have a grand showdown, but thinking of Yu Xin waiting for his rescue, he knew he couldn't die here; fueled with anger, he quickened his pace.
The enemies pursued frantically, spreading out fully, trying to flank from both sides. Seeing this, Ghost Hand felt a twisted respect for their madness; they had been pursuing since daybreak for several hours without tiring, still chasing recklessly, a true bunch of madn. Retreating and sprinting recklessly, Madela followed closely.
After running for a while, they found the gap with the enemies widening, and Ghost Hand, shocked, stopped to observe. Realizing few enemies were keeping pace, most lagged behind. His expression brightened with excitent, he laughed, and Madela asked quizzically about the pursuing troops, "What's going on?"
"A good thing." Ghost Hand exclaid excitedly, "They've been on our tails since early morning with over three hours' forced march, and have been chasing us like mad for two, maybe more hours now? I thought they were made of iron, impervious to fatigue. Look, they're starting to tire."
"That's right, those bastards. Let's go." Madela said, delighted. As elite Special Forces, being chased all over the mountains by ard n without shaking them off left Madela fuming, but now seeing the enemies finally losing stamina, felt a bit more balanced inside.
"I just hope nothing's happened to them, but let's move." Ghost Hand didn't pay attention to Madela's emotions, muttering lowly as a trace of worry flashed in his sharp eyes, striding forward.
