Moonlight had sneaked out without anyone noticing, casting a faint glow over the gray earth. The cold wind gently swayed the withered grass of the wilderness, producing a soft rustling sound, as if soone was quietly sobbing. This added an extra layer of eeriness to the silent wilderness. A wild bird fluttered past, cutting a dark shadow across the void before vanishing in an instant. On the mountain ridge, Luo Zheng calmly observed this scene, his heart steady as a rock, eyes fixed on the sniper scope to carefully survey the manor ahead.

Outside the manor, lights were bright and shadows flickered. Occasionally, the low growl of a wolf dog could be heard. Inside the manor, it was completely dark; presumably, everyone was asleep. Even the rooms with lights had thick curtains drawn, making it impossible to see inside. In this situation, there was no way to carry out a sniping.

Luo Zheng coldly observed for a good ten minutes without finding any opportunity to make a move. His face turned ashen. The manor's defenses had beco much stricter; a lone person rushing in would be suicidal. Even if the two dark sentries hidden in front were taken down, it wouldn't help; there were too many black-clad individuals.

Feeling helpless, Luo Zheng had no choice but to retreat. This feeling was quite aggrieving, but to keep himself useful for revenge and rescue, Luo Zheng didn't dare to act recklessly and charge in. He coldly glanced at the dark sentry positions and slowly withdrew. He ca to the infrared detection area, put on tactical sunglasses, and carefully stepped over the infrared beams, leaving slowly with a sense of reluctance and helplessness.

Back at the car, Luo Zheng disassembled his weapon and put it in his military bag, then disguised himself with a travel backpack and drove away from the scene. By the ti he reached the city, it was already past two in the morning. Luo Zheng found an inn to stay in, choosing a room facing the street. Although noisy, it allowed him to observe the surroundings and provided a ans of escape in critical monts.

After this failure, Luo Zheng beca more cautious and careful, considering matters more thoroughly. The guest room was ordinary; the bed sheets and covers were reasonably clean. Luo Zheng only needed a place to sleep, not caring much for comfort. He washed up and fell asleep imdiately.

Perhaps due to exhaustion, he slept until eight the next morning, which had never happened before. Luo Zheng was awakened by the noise of cars outside, dressed up, and ca to the window. Drawing the curtain, he looked outside. The cars were bustling, and the scene was lively. Luo Zheng scanned through the view and was suddenly drawn to a particular car.

Being surprised, Luo Zheng looked at the license plate; it was Jackson's father's car, parked by the roadside, with two escort cars in front and behind. All three cars were stationary, with windows closed, making it impossible to see inside. Luo Zheng was perplexed; why were they parked here? He glanced around and noticed a black-clad man carrying a bag of food coming out of a bakery, hurriedly getting into the middle car. Within monts, all three cars started and drove away.

"Buying breakfast?" Luo Zheng wondered in surprise, not paying it much mind, and left carrying his luggage.

After coming down, feeling a bit hungry, he went to the bakery across the street, choosing a seat by the window. A friendly waitress approached to inquire about his order. Luo Zheng had a sudden inspiration and asked, "What did the guy in the black suit just buy? Give the sa. Just enough for will do."

"Burger, bread, soy milk, and milk. He ordered quite a lot," the waitress replied with a smile.

"He can really eat so much by himself, amazing. Just a bread and a glass of milk for , thanks," Luo Zheng said politely with a smile.

"Alright, well, he isn't eating by himself; I think he's a governnt worker and cos here every day. Our food is absolutely safe, and the taste is great. Feel free to enjoy," the waitress assured. Perhaps she found Luo Zheng approachable and casually ntioned more.

This statent turned out to be crucial information to Luo Zheng. He thanked her with composure, and once she left, he began surveying the surroundings: a cash register, about a dozen small tables, with the bakery next door, connected by a closed door with a small window on the wall, presumably for food delivery.

Several groups of custors were chatting quietly, and Luo Zheng was suddenly inspired with a plan for a new assassination. Feeling invigorated, soon the food was served, and his mood brightened at the thought of the assassination plan, and he ate with more appetite, paying the bill and leaving afterward.

Leaving the bakery, Luo Zheng didn't retrieve his car but found a nearby guesthouse to stay in, again choosing a room facing the window that overlooked the bakery, offering a clear view. Luo Zheng smiled with satisfaction, turned on the TV, lay on the bed, and watched the news. For quite so ti, the news didn't ntion the previous incident, as if collectively silenced. Had it been censored? Isn't Sam Country supposed to have free speech?

Thinking about it, but with no conclusion, Luo Zheng pondered that Lan Xue should have already escaped, wondering if he should contact the outside world. Yet, rembering his comrades' tragic losses made him feel ashad to face others, sighing internally, he thought, "Forget it, I should take care of Jackson's father before anything else. How else could I face anyone?"

With plans in mind, Luo Zheng stayed hidden in the guesthouse all day, even having his als in the room. The next morning, getting up and checking the ti, around six o'clock, Luo Zheng finished washing up, dressed neatly, and checked out shortly after seven. He checked the clock again; it was almost eight.

Luo Zheng promptly returned to the bakery; yesterday's waitress wasn't there. Luo decided on bread and milk, sitting at a small table close to the cash register, eating while monitoring the ti. At exactly eight, a black-clad man entered from outside. Luo Zheng imdiately recognized him as yesterday's patron, feeling delighted. He stood up, discretely moving towards the cash register.

The black-clad man shot a cautious glance at Luo Zheng, who, pretending not to notice, acted as if he was in a rush, saying, "Here, take the money."

The waitress took his money. anwhile, another waitress ca out of the adjoining room with the food the black-clad man ordered and packed it at the register, while the cashier gave change to Luo Zheng. Luo Zheng pretended to be impatiently waiting, and as the waitress handed over the packed food to the black-clad man, he took it in one hand while digging out money with the other.

The cashier handed Luo Zheng his change, and took money from the black-clad man. Luo Zheng accepted his change with thanks, casually slipping two prepared Button Bombs into the black-clad man's food bag, then turned to leave, appearing like an office worker in a hurry.

Button Bombs are unlike other tid explosives or grenades—they are exceptionally small and portable. Tossed into the food bag, they made no sound and didn't add any noticeable weight, unbeknownst to the black-clad man. Leaving the bakery, Luo Zheng didn't go far, standing across the street posing as if waiting for a taxi. Watching as the black-clad man exited the bakery toward a car, Luo Zheng coldly smirked. Just then, a taxi approached, and Luo Zheng feigned getting in, signaling the driver to look ahead. Surveillance caras were everywhere, and the act had to be convincing to avoid suspicion.

As the taxi quickly started, Luo Zheng turned to gaze through the rear glass; the target vehicle also started and left, prompting a cold smile from Luo Zheng. He turned and sat upright, ears perked; the Button Bombs had a fifteen-second delay before detonation, enough ti for the black-clad man to get into the car and drive away for so distance.
