"Boom!" A thunderous explosion erupted from the moving black sedan as it was blasted into the air, crashing into a passing car. Luo Zheng heard the explosion and smirked coldly without turning back. Two Button Bombs were enough to kill everyone inside.
The taxi driver heard the explosion, slamd on the brakes, and peeked out with a changed expression, exclaiming in a panic, "God, what happened? A terrorist attack? Damn those infidels."
Luo Zheng ignored the taxi driver's curses and urged him to drive. The driver agreed, continuing to curse the terrorists incessantly. Luo Zheng pretended not to hear and pondered that taking out Jackson's father was a way to exact interest for his brothers and send a warning to the relevant departnts and individuals not to target them rcilessly.
Blowing up the train and the castle had thoroughly infuriated Sam Country. Even if the brothers surrendered, they couldn't expect to be treated as prisoners of war, and their lives would be in constant danger. Luo Zheng had to consider the brothers' safety. By killing Jackson's father, the Minister of Defense, it was a way to send a warning, intimidate, and at least make so people with ulterior motives hesitate to kill them easily.
"It's ti to contact the outside world," Luo Zheng thought. After the taxi drove a distance, he stopped at an office building, got out and waited for the taxi to leave before hailing another car back to the scene. He saw that many police officers had gathered at the explosion site and the road had been sealed off, forcing him to disembark early and walk.
The scene was cordoned off, and Luo Zheng couldn't be bothered to look. He found the parking lot, drove the SUV out, returned it to the rental company to avoid suspicion, and after completing the paperwork, took a taxi straight to the Embassy. Along the way, Luo Zheng felt uneasy, and the taxi driver, seeing Luo Zheng uninterested in conversation, turned on the radio.
Soon, the radio was discussing the explosion incident. The host publicly stated that the victim was a representative of the Hawks, the Minister of Defense, claiming it was a political assassination by special agents from other countries dissatisfied with the nation, while an invited guest said it was a terrorist attack, with both sides standing firm.
The taxi driver, hearing this, started cursing again, alternating between condemning terrorists and wishing death upon the Minister of Defense. Perhaps tired from cursing or noting Luo Zheng's silence, the driver focused on driving. Luo Zheng didn't care about the driver's rants, inwardly delighted that the news confird the target was dead, and next in line was Jackson.
After the explosion incident, Jackson would certainly beco more elusive. Capturing him wouldn't be easy and would require manpower and intelligence — going it alone was no longer an option. Unknowingly, the taxi arrived at the Embassy's entrance and stopped. Luo Zheng got out and walked inside, where a guard ca up to question him, and Luo Zheng showed his credentials.
The guard, upon seeing the credentials, changed his expression slightly, glanced around, and whispered, "The ambassador specifically instructed that whenever you co, you should go to his office imdiately. He's waiting for you there."
"Thanks," Luo Zheng replied, perplexed, taking back his credentials and quickening his pace.
Soon, Luo Zheng reached the ambassador's door, which was half-open. He saw the ambassador working at his desk, gently knocked on the door. The ambassador looked up briefly, saw it was Luo Zheng, and sprang up, rushing over with a look of surprise and delight. Luo Zheng could tell the ambassador's joy was genuine, warming his heart as he bitterly said, "Ambassador, I failed."
"Co in, let's talk," the ambassador quickly said, pulling Luo Zheng inside, checking outside to ensure no one was around, then quickly shut and locked the door, gesturing for Luo Zheng to sit on the sofa with a face full of joy, "You're back, that's what matters, you're back. By the way, Lan Xue and the others arrived an hour ago."
"That's great. Are they alright?" Luo Zheng asked with great relief, quickly inquiring, his eyes anxiously watching the ambassador, fearing for Lan Xue and the others.
"They're fine, but the other brothers were captured, casualties unknown," the ambassador said solemnly with a darkened expression.
"I understand, this command failure is on . I'll take full responsibility, but I'll also rescue them. Ambassador, I need intelligence support," Luo Zheng said seriously, looking at the ambassador, his eyes showing a cold killing intent.
"No problem, I've been instructed from above to support your actions at any cost. Just tell what you need," the ambassador agreed wholeheartedly.
"From above?" Luo Zheng was taken aback, then imdiately thought of Mr. Li, who must have been coordinating with the relevant departnts. Otherwise, such support wouldn't be possible, indicating that Mr. Li knew Luo Zheng was alive and continued to support and trust him. Feeling ward inside, Luo Zheng gratefully said, "Thank you, we're counting on you."
"By the way, I just received news that the Hawks' representative in Sam Country, the current Minister of Defense, was blown up and killed. He seed to be Jackson's father, right? There might be a rigorous investigation soon, making it inconvenient to act. Can we wait a couple of days?" the ambassador inquired gravely.
"Isn't it good that he's dead?" Luo Zheng asked in surprise.
"It's more than good, especially for our country. That bastard had been on the battlefield and fought against our people during the Volunteer Army days, harboring intense hatred for us. He was an anti-China figure and caused our country no end of trouble. With his death, the Hawks in Sam Country have lost a pillar, easing our pressure significantly. Our national security agency attempted assassinating him twice, failing both tis. That bastard deserved to die," the ambassador said resentfully.
"That's good then," Luo Zheng sighed in relief.
"Huh?" The ambassador looked at Luo Zheng in surprise, pressing him with a shocked expression, "You didn't do it, did you?"
"Just collecting so interest for the brothers," Luo Zheng said casually.
"I guessed it might be related to you, but to think it really was you. That's fantastic; I have to report this. You've avenged a few of our national security agents, and our security owes you a favor," the ambassador said excitedly, his emotions stirred, and continued, "That bastard constantly targeted our country; his death makes our Ministry of Foreign Affairs' work a lot easier. You've done the country a great service."
"Forget the accolades; I just want revenge and to save people," Luo Zheng said calmly.
The ambassador's expression turned serious, regaining his composure, nodding as he said, "Understood, you're sending a warning to so with ulterior motives not to harm the brothers harshly, providing more safety for the captured brothers. I must tell you, the people you were supposed to rescue have been airlifted to the Dark Prison; they left the night of your operation. I only got the news the next day."
"What?" Luo Zheng's face changed drastically, and a chilling killing intent surged out.
