In the early morning, ten ard helicopters flew in a combat formation across the vast forest sky, looking nacing with the fiery red sun behind them. They appeared as if erging from the sun itself, an extrely eerie sight. The sound of the rotor blades reverberated above the dense forest, echoing far and wide.
"They're coming." This thought flashed through everyone's mind as they looked at Luo Zheng in unison.
Luo Zheng stared at the oncoming ard helicopters with a furrowed brow and an incredibly firm expression, shouting, "Everyone, get into position and await orders. Hook, how many people are here? Captain Li, how about our numbers?"
"We only have a hundred people here; the fortifications at the back are still under construction. Tell how many you need, and I'll dispatch them imdiately," Hook quickly replied, eyes filled with battle intent as he looked at Luo Zheng. Filled with a desire for the impending battle, Hook decided it was better to fight for victory once and for all rather than live in constant fear.
"Only ten are staying here to supervise the excavation of the fortifications," Captain Li responded.
"Ten?" Luo Zheng was taken aback. After a brief contemplation, he said, "Assign two to each Dark Fortress to direct the assault, and the others to the trenches at the back to guide the attack. Hook, assign twenty of your n to each Dark Fortress, and the other sixty to the trenches at the back. Inform your n to follow the orders given by my people. Everyone, move quickly."
"Understood." Hook and Captain Li readily agreed. Soon, orders were communicated, and everyone ran through the passage to their positions. In no ti, the previously bustling entrance to the canyon quieted down, leaving nearly a hundred prisoners of war tied to stakes. Luo Zheng and Lan Xue stood silently in the open, looking up at the approaching enemy helicopters without seeking cover.
The enemy helicopters did not imdiately attack; instead, they scattered, with one flying over Luo Zheng and his group, soaring into the sky, turning around, and leaving. It was evident that they'd discovered the situation below. With hostages present, no one dared to act recklessly and bear the responsibility if the news got out.
Not long after, the enemy helicopters returned, circling the outskirts of the canyon entrance. Luo Zheng coldly smiled and spoke into his earpiece, "All units, listen to my orders. Scholar and Farr, provide air defense on the cliff; Monk and Gardener, provide air defense below the cliff. Hook?"
"Here." Hook quickly answered. To ensure Hook understood his orders and combat intentions, Luo Zheng communicated everything in an international language. Hook carried a signal receiver, allowing him to hear Luo Zheng's commands.
"Notify your people to prepare for combat. Assign a hundred n in the valley to coordinate defense with mine. Everyone else must stay hidden, especially those still working on the fortifications. They must not expose our defensive works. The battle hasn't started yet; let's play with the enemy slowly." Luo Zheng cautiously advised.
"Understood." Hook quickly agreed.
Orders were transmitted via wireless signals, and everyone sprang into action. Luo Zheng coldly watched the dense forest ahead, considering that the enemy's ground forces should have arrived. Turning to Lan Xue, he said, "You should hide in the trenches at the back. I'm enough here alone; next is just negotiation, no danger."
"If there's no danger, why are you chasing away?" Lan Xue retorted irritably.
"Alright, as you wish." Luo Zheng knew Lan Xue was concerned and wanted to stay and help, so he didn't insist. Feeling a warmth in his heart, he focused ahead and continued speaking through the earpiece, "Lan Xing, closely monitor the enemy situation. Report any suspicious activity imdiately. Can you estimate the size of the enemy's deploynt?"
"Can't tell, about two thousand n. Right, the enemy reinforcents are a battalion specializing in mountain warfare, over three thousand soldiers. Combined with the existing forces at the enemy base, total strength exceeds five thousand. Director Wu asked if you're sure you don't need dostic support?" Lan Xing quickly replied.
"Not for now, it's too late anyway." Luo Zheng readily agreed, deeply pondering with furrowed brows. The two thousand enemy troops weren't too many, but with total forces exceeding five thousand, it matched the Hook Tribe's overall numbers. However, Sam Country's trained jungle warfare regulars, combined with their strong air power, would be unstoppable without support. It was clear Sam Country was determined.
"They're here." Lan Xue's reminder sounded in his ear.
Luo Zheng also noticed the flurry of startled birds in the forest, clearly indicating a large force passing through. Taking a deep breath, he waited patiently and said into his earpiece, "Everyone, prepare for combat. Await my command before firing, stay concealed."
"Yes." Everyone responded in unison.
After a while, nurous enemy soldiers erged from the forest, all looking seriously at their surroundings. Once out of the forest, they stopped, taking cover where they were, coldly watching the canyon entrance. After a mont, a soldier in camouflaged combat gear stepped forward, helted, pistol at the waist, his face cold and exuding a chilling murderous intent.
The man strode forward boldly without requiring anyone to follow. Luo Zheng hesitated, raising his sniper scope to observe closely. Upon recognizing the figure, his expression changed dramatically as he glanced at Lan Xue in surprise. Lan Xue, also startled, raised her sniper scope to have a better look, and upon identifying the man, her face filled with shock as she quietly said, "Jackson, it's him?"
"No wonder I felt the enemy commander was so familiar with ; it turns out he was the one directing. Sam Country has found out about us." Luo Zheng whispered.
"Should we take him out?" Mountain Eagle asked quietly, with thick anger in his voice.
"Don't move; he's coming alone for negotiations. Whether we can save our brothers depends on him." Luo Zheng hurriedly stopped him. Composing himself, he whispered to Lan Xue, "Cover . I'm going to et him."
"Be careful." Lan Xue earnestly instructed, raising her sniper rifle to aim at Jackson, fully locking onto him. If any accident occurred, Lan Xue wouldn't hesitate to sniper Jackson.
"Old friend, we et again. I knew it was you. Co over, let's have a good talk." Jackson shouted loudly, stopping not far from the entrance trench.
"Alright, I was just looking for you. Didn't expect we'd et again on the battlefield. I hope you don't disappoint this ti," Luo Zheng replied defiantly, striding forward, suppressing his rage. Although Jackson deserved death, it wasn't the ti. They needed to rescue their people first, so he restrained the murderous intent in his eyes.
