An hour later, in a certain defense zone outside the valley, thirteen corpses lay flat on the open ground. So people were standing around them in silent mourning. Sunlight filtered through the gaps in the leaves, sprinkling down onto the bodies in mottled patches, like multicolored butterflies dancing in the air. Only, the angry expressions on the dead ruined this harmonious scene. Very soon, a team rushed over from behind; more than a dozen people, all wearing camouflage suits, their faces invisible. Mixed into this team were so natives everyone knew, so the crowd quickly made way.

The team hurried over and stopped beside the bodies. The one in the lead was Luo Zheng, with Hook at his side. Hook was also wearing the combat uniform captured from the Pot Lid Head troops. After being reorganized, the guard unit currently had only ten n, all the toughest warriors selected from the guard regint, all outfitted with captured Pot Lid Head gear. At a glance they looked just like well-trained Special Forces.

Luo Zheng's n were all in camouflage suits, forming a stark contrast with Hook's people. Mountain Eagle gave a hand signal, and the brothers quickly spread out to establish security around them. Luo Zheng squatted by the corpses to examine the situation, his expression growing grim. All the dead had been shot in the center of the forehead. Judging from the bullet holes and wounds, it had to be close-range fire from a silenced pistol. In other words, the enemy had gotten right up to them and nobody even knew.

Hook's n had grown up surviving in this prival forest; their vigilance was extrely high. For the enemy to sneak up on them like this showed terrifying jungle-warfare capability. Even Sam Country Special Forces couldn't completely avoid the Hook Tribe's alert net. Only one unit could pull this off: the Pot Lid Head Special Warfare Group, Sam Country's Soldier King unit.

Just thinking about crossing swords again with Sam Country's Soldier King unit set Luo Zheng's blood boiling. Previously, he'd ambushed the Pot Lid Heads twice out in the open, but that was using stratagems, not a true head‑on fight with live steel and real bullets. This ti Luo Zheng fully intended to have a proper bout with them. With that thought, Luo Zheng slowly stood up, looked at Hook, and said, "Pass the word down: dig more dark fortresses and tunnels, set up more hidden sentries. This stretch of ti is probably not going to be safe."

"Got it." Hook called over a nearby person in charge, carefully gave him a few instructions, then looked back at Luo Zheng.

Luo Zheng's gaze had fallen on three dead leopards. He walked quickly over and saw that two were adults and one was a cub, though not a small one. The leopard was the apex predator in this forest's food chain, a master of stealth attacks, especially good at ambushing. He hadn't expected them to be hunted with knives. Luo Zheng carefully examined the knife wounds.

The cut was on the belly, opened into a long gash with the internal organs spilling out. The wound was clean, made by a single stroke. That required extrely high knife skills and wrist strength, proof the opponent was a master with the blade. All three leopards had died in the sa place, so it clearly wasn't the work of just one person. In other words, this enemy infiltration squad had at least three knife experts. Not to be underestimated.

At that mont, Shadow, Snow Fox, and Drunkard walked up, gave the leopards on the ground a cold sweep of the eyes, then looked at Luo Zheng. Luo Zheng stood, clapped his hands, his sharp gaze sweeping the surrounding forest. In a low, serious voice he said, "Brothers, what do you make of this?"

"Leopards—also called Jaguars—are the top hunters here, at the very top of the food chain. They're the best at night raids, can climb trees, and their attack speed and power are both vicious as hell. For them to be killed in one stroke… the enemy isn't simple. This is getting interesting." Shadow said, his gaze razor‑sharp as it cut across the forest around them, a thick killing intent bursting from his body.

"Cold‑weapon experts, more than one. They could close in under machine‑gun fire and put precision shots into Hook's n at close range—so they've also got gun experts, and not just one. Or you could say, this whole team is sothing else. We're in for so fun. Snow Fox, you're the so‑called fox of the Snowfield jungles, better at jungle warfare than . Why don't you take point?" Drunkard said with a grin.

"No problem. I've been itching to cross blades with the Pot Lid Heads for a long ti." Snow Fox replied excitedly, looking at Luo Zheng and waiting for his final order.

Luo Zheng thought for a mont, then nodded to Snow Fox and said, "Be careful."

"No problem." Snow Fox answered with excitent, and imdiately began examining the surroundings. He truly lived up to the na of the fox of the Snowfield jungle—extrely familiar with jungle combat. He quickly found traces and signaled everyone to follow.

Luo Zheng imdiately reminded Hook, then led the team in pursuit. He saw Snow Fox advance in fits and starts, looking left and right, occasionally sniffing the air, as if there was sothing in it. Puzzled, Luo Zheng muttered in Mandarin to Shadow, "What's he sniffing the air for? They've been gone a good while—any sll of blood in the air is long gone. Don't tell he can still pick up the Sam Country stink on them?"

"You don't know the half of it." Shadow chuckled quietly. "His nose is sharper than a hunting dog's; otherwise why call him Snow Fox? Nose like a fox. The lingering scent in the air that we can't sense, he can. Just follow him and we'll be fine. That's called a natural gift."

"Uh?" Luo Zheng hadn't expected Snow Fox to have that kind of talent. He couldn't help thinking to himself, "So it's true, everyone who makes Squad Leader in the Special Service Departnt is sothing else. On top of overall capability, each of them has so specialty. Shadow's terrifying speed and single soldier combat power, Drunkard's Life-taking Needle Skill, Snow Fox's jungle tracking. Looking at it now, I might actually be the one who's a bit lacking. If I want to beco the Strongest Soldier King, there's still a long road ahead."

Led by Snow Fox, everyone sprinted forward, over a ridge and through a gorge. Luo Zheng suddenly realized the direction they were tracking toward was the back of the Hook Tribe's valley. His face changed slightly, his sword‑brows knitting tight. The enemy had struck up front, then, once exposed, had imdiately looped around to the rear. What were they up to?

"Drunkard, Shadow, this is the route behind the Hook Tribe. Could the enemy be planning a decapitation strike?" Luo Zheng analyzed in a low, uneasy voice, his expression turning much more grave.

"Hard to say. That's exactly the kind of thing they love to do. The missile base has been destroyed, so they're definitely not here to guide missiles onto targets. We've got Red Banner Six; their helicopters don't dare co in, so they're not marking targets for air strikes either. A decapitation op is the most likely. We should inform command." Drunkard said, his tone heavy.

Luo Zheng saw Drunkard's analysis matched his own and nodded. He imdiately threw Mountain Eagle a look. Mountain Eagle called up the brother carrying the Single Soldier Radio, dialed command, and handed the handset to Luo Zheng. Luo Zheng took it and, hearing that the one who answered on the other end was Captain Li, quickly said, "Brother Li, the enemy may have looped around behind you to carry out a decapitation operation. Be careful."

"These bastards are growing so balls, huh? Two options: first, we sweep the area right away and scare them off. Second, we let them in and then shut the door and beat the dogs. You're overall commander, you decide. But my suggestion is option two." Captain Li said, his voice thick with fighting spirit.

"No. The enemy is too strong. You won't be able to stop them, and you won't be able to keep them either. Go to level‑one alert. If you spot the enemy, don't pursue—report imdiately." Luo Zheng hurriedly instructed, rejecting Captain Li's proposal.
