At noon, the prival forest beca even more stifling, as the scorching sunlight penetrated the dense canopy. Vibrant beams of light danced in the woods, reflecting off surfaces with the wind, like butterflies fluttering. In the thick forest, dozens of ard individuals dashed forward, leaping over roots exposed on the ground, moving swiftly like leopards chasing prey.
Leading the group, a person draped in a camouflage suit, face unseen, wielding an assault rifle, slightly hunched, walked with firm and powerful steps, resembling a swiftly moving shrub. In the midst of sprinting, this person suddenly slid to a halt, rolled skillfully and concealed themselves under a large tree nearby and swiftly made a hand signal.
The following team imdiately stopped, dispersed, each finding a place to hide properly. In the blink of an eye, everyone seed to have vanished, leaving the forest silent and eerily quiet. After a while, the leader made a few hand signals; a person behind them rushed forward with hasty steps, nimble as a lynx.
Soon, this person reached the spot where the leader was hiding; the tree was large enough to conceal two people without issue. The newcor looked cautiously ahead, lowering their voice to ask, "Brother, what's the situation?" It was Luo Zheng.
The scout ahead was Snow Fox. Snow Fox whispered, "Nothing detected, but I sense there should be soone ahead, though it's not 100% certain."
"Oh?" Luo Zheng always valued battlefield intuition highly. Hearing Snow Fox's words, his eyebrows slightly furrowed as he looked around warily, pondering. If indeed soone was ambushing ahead, the most likely threat would be a sniper, implying that the enemies they were pursuing might be resting there.
Luo Zheng checked his watch. It was exactly noon. The enemy might very well be taking a lunch break. Given their capabilities and caution, they would surely position sentinels behind as hidden scouts. Luo Zheng whispered, "Shadow, left; Xue Er, right; Snow Fox and I in the middle; Hook, follow and cover Xue Er; everyone else, spread out in a search formation. Hook, take the rear. Move!"
"Understood." Everyone replied quietly.
After issuing orders, Luo Zheng gave Snow Fox a glance. Snow Fox nodded understandingly, swiftly darting forward a few ters, dodging behind a large tree, signaling Luo Zheng and keeping vigilant. Luo Zheng observed the position and distance of trees ahead, identified a hiding spot, then pushed off with a burst like a cannonball, darting forwards to the designated position, concealed quickly, scanning his surroundings, signaling Snow Fox.
Snow Fox nodded knowingly and continued to charge ahead, both advancing alternately with cover, never exceeding ten ters each ti. This distance was a matter of seconds for them. Even if exposed, they would be difficult to target, providing no opportunity for the opponents to shoot. If they ran further and longer, it would be another matter.
After advancing alternately for about a hundred ters, Snow Fox suddenly signaled for cover. Luo Zheng nodded understandingly, stopped advancing, and cautiously observed his surroundings. Finding no danger, he saw Snow Fox suddenly draw his military dagger reversed, stabbing it into the tree as a foothold, leaping upwards, climbing agilely onto the branches.
In the dense forest, views were not open, so climbing trees was the way for a better view. Luo Zheng saw Snow Fox's action and instantly realized the potential danger, quickly tapping his earpiece twice to signal danger, prompting the team behind to hide.
Snow Fox swiftly climbed the tree, hiding behind a fork, scouting ahead. After a while, he quickly curled into a ball, leaning against the tree, looking at Luo Zheng to communicate. Upon seeing Luo Zheng's attention, he gestured as if looking through a sniper scope, the battle sign indicating he spotted a sniper. Luo Zheng, seeing a sniper indeed, rejoiced, making a hand gesture indicating understanding.
Snow Fox quickly made a series of battle gestures. Luo Zheng watched carefully, grinning when Snow Fox finished. Snow Fox's gestures clearly indicated the enemy was in a location fifty ters ahead, beneath a large fallen and decaying tree, likely struck down by lightning.
With the target location clear, Luo Zheng rejoiced, quickly signaling Mountain Eagle ten ters behind him with a V-pattern formation gesture. Mountain Eagle nodded, relaying the gesture to his team.
Luo Zheng made a cover gesture to Snow Fox, who nodded, rose, positioned his weapon on the tree fork, and kept watch forward. Luo Zheng picked up his sniper rifle and cautiously checked the front, spotting a large tree about eight ters away suitable for hiding, then sprinted forward.
Rushing several steps, Luo Zheng leapt like a leopard to the tree, rolled to the ground, and concealed himself behind, scanning around carefully. He noticed Shadow and Lan Xue approaching from both sides, swiftly signaling them the enemy's position for encirclent.
Understanding, both nodded, quickly altered their paths to advance. Facing experts, Luo Zheng dared not be careless, listening intently. The dense forest was noisy with too many sounds; various calls from birds and beasts vexed him. He slowly extended his helt past the side of the tree.
Partially extending the helt resulted in no gunfire. Luo Zheng retracted it and donned it again, estimating Shadow and Lan Xue had reached their positions. Resolving to lure the enemy into firing, he rose, darting from cover, charging forth.
Sprinting swiftly, Luo Zheng dashed forward for over ten ters, lunging, rolling towards a big tree nearby. The enemy didn't shoot, which troubled Luo Zheng, indicating he faced a sniper skilled in restraint and patience.
Suddenly, Luo Zheng heard so unusual sounds, cautiously peeking to find Shadow had reached the target's location, engaging in hand-to-hand combat, startling Luo Zheng. He quickly aid his gun only to see the enemy retreat rapidly after exchanging a punch and a kick with Shadow.
Luo Zheng was amazed at the enemy's speed, who quickly retreated over ten ters, using trees to hide with each step, offering no opportunity to shoot. His expression darkened, urgently whispering, "Anyone with an opportunity, open fire imdiately, take him down!"
