Both sides relied on trees to conceal themselves and counterattack fiercely. Luo Zheng did not expect to fall into an ambush. While firing, he observed the surrounding enemy situation. There were enemies from three directions with comparable firepower and precise shooting skills. Their speed in changing shooting positions was also very fast, making it difficult for him to lock onto and effectively eliminate them. Clearly, they were all experts, implying that they were likely all elite troops.
"Three teams of elite troops?" Luo Zheng's expression beca serious. Coupling this with the enemy's actions of fighting while retreating previously, Luo Zheng instantly realized this was a preditated sniper attack. If it weren't for discovering the enemy sniper in advance, they might have walked right into the ambush.
Moreover, after their exposure, the enemy only sent two people up for support. Failing to engage effectively, they continued to retreat. The intention was clear: to lure everyone over. If those present weren't all veterans with rich combat experience and precise shooting skills, they would likely have been successfully ambushed by the enemy. Thinking of this, Luo Zheng beca angry and shouted, "Hold on and see how many the enemy has and what their plans are."
"About thirty people, call the brothers, flank them on both sides, and eliminate them," Shadow suggested.
"Don't rush," Luo Zheng ordered sharply, with eyes as sharp as a blade glancing coldly at the enemy situation. He continued shooting at enemies trying to charge up, though not hitting, he firmly disrupted their attack rhythm.
The surrounding trees were dense and thick, blocking the view as well as shooting lines. Everyone kept changing shooting points to dodge bullets, thus neither side could get the upper hand imdiately, and the battle was in a state of stalemate. Luo Zheng noticed his brothers had unconsciously ford a circular defensive posture, blocking attacks coming from several directions. Yet, the situation was not in their favor, and prolonging the fight could lead to disadvantages.
"Brothers, what's the situation?" Mountain Eagle's anxious inquiry ca through the earpiece.
Luo Zheng had a sudden idea and whispered, "Set up a bag-style formation on the spot, make it larger. The enemy's spread of about thirty people is wide and not easily tricked. We'll lure the enemy in."
"Understood," Mountain Eagle calmly replied.
Everyone heard Luo Zheng's tactical arrangents through the earpiece, lifted their spirits, and quickly counterattacked with stern expressions, ready for orders. Soon, Luo Zheng saw the enemy pressing forward fiercely as if going all out and quickly shouted, "Brothers, grenade attack, cover and retreat the sa way we ca."
"Understood," everyone shouted in unison, pulling out grenades and throwing them with all their might after removing the pins.
"Boom boom boom!" The sound of grenade explosions rang out, forcing the enemies to find cover, and everyone took the opportunity to turn and run, sprinting back along the sa path. The enemy had set up such an extensive formation; it was impossible that they wouldn't pursue.
In just a second, they sprinted over ten ters, creating so distance from the enemy. Luo Zheng roared, "Take cover, grenade attack again."
"Yes," everyone quickly took cover, pulled out grenades, and threw them vigorously at where the enemy hid. Using the sound of explosions as cover, they turned and continued sprinting, further widening the gap from the enemy. Luo Zheng didn't issue any more attack orders but led everyone in a full retreat.
After two rounds of grenade attacks, there's already a distance of more than thirty ters between both sides. This distance is inconsequential in open areas, but in dense woods, it matters significantly as tall trees are everywhere, obstructing views, and everyone runs very fast, making it impossible to shoot.
The opportunity was rare. The enemies chased closely like hungry wolves, spreading quickly and forming an attack formation. At the front was a large, towering assault trooper resembling a bull in stature, but he moved nimbly and quickly, occasionally aiming and shooting while running with a grim expression, silent and intense.
Luo Zheng turned back for a glance while retreating, noting that the enemy was closing in. He shouted coldly, "Brothers, keep running, I'll cover the rear." He stopped, taking cover behind a large tree and raised his sniper rifle.
The enemies were still so distance away, running quickly with trees in the way, making it hard to find a shooting opportunity. Luo Zheng took a deep breath to calm himself, using his family's Breathing Skill to adjust his state. Concentrating intensely, he gradually entered a wondrous, ethereal state.
In this state, Luo Zheng quickly locked onto the leading enemy, seeing a target as robust as a bull. With a tranquil heart, he aid the gun muzzle at the target's eyebrow, then lowered it to aim at the chest as the chest was a larger target and easier to hit.
If it were ordinary enemies, Luo Zheng would unhesitatingly aim for the brow for a kill shot. But facing equally skilled elite troops, he had to consider hit probability. The enemy's erratic running made sniping difficult; finally getting a chance, but just when pulling the trigger, the target's body got obscured by trees, making shooting impossible.
The rapid running and erratic paths made Luo Zheng frustrated, as the enemy closed in. He contemplated giving up the attack when suddenly a sniper shot sounded nearby, making him wonder. The enemy was relentlessly chasing, not opening fire, and his side was in full retreat, so who could have fired?
Luo Zheng saw a sniper bullet hit a tree beside the target he locked onto, just as the target stepped forward, narrowly avoiding a lethal hit. The attacked target didn't panic; instead, it darted behind a large tree, signaling others behind.
At this mont, Luo Zheng saw half of the enemy's foot exposed under his gun muzzle due to his position, rejoicing. The enemy stopped re ten ters away, presenting no challenge to Luo Zheng, who quickly aid, locked onto the exposed foot, and calmly pulled the trigger.
"Whoosh!" The sniper bullet whizzed out from the chamber carrying Luo Zheng's full expectation and lethality, slashing through with an intense energy shock wave in the Void, hitting the opposing leg with a buzzing sound. The powerful penetration instantly pierced the opponent's leg, splattering blood, while the bullet's montum continued into the distant soil.
"Argh—" The target let out a low-pitched scream, involuntarily leaning towards the injured side, exposing much of its back. Luo Zheng observed with a cold smile, quickly raised his gun, and fired. At such close range, Luo Zheng needed no aiming, his instincts assured a hit. Ti was short for aiming; once the enemy regained control, they'd retreat. The opportunity was fleeting.
"Whoosh!" The sniper bullet scread out, tearing through space barriers, heading for the target with Luo Zheng's potent intent, pierced the target's back with a muffled sound, splattering a blood arrow with the bullet's penetration through the body, going through the bulletproof panel untreated by level 88 gear, and eventually hitting the ground beyond.
