In the deep, prival forest, a sense of impending death surged skywards, startling countless birds and beasts into flight. After Shadow's lightning-fast shot, he didn't recklessly pursue but rolled to the ground and crouched under a large tree. Suddenly, a burst of gunfire ca his way, hitting the tree in front of him. Startled, he roared, "Cover fire, now."
"Too many trees, hard to target, Drunkard, Snow Fox, one each, lock down the targets with fire, Xue Er, charge with , take them out. Shadow, the sniper is yours, everyone be careful," Luo Zheng whispered, then slid down the tree. Upon landing, he charged forward in pursuit. Although the treetops offered a broad view, the enemy kept changing positions, making it impossible to fire. The best strategy was close-quarters combat.
"The enemy is trying to flee," Snow Fox's urgent voice crackled in the earpiece.
"Chase them," Luo Zheng commanded in a low voice, quickening his pace as he shot forward. Soon, Luo Zheng saw two figures sprinting ahead, swift as lightning. Shielded by the trees, he could not open fire, frustratingly he sped up to catch them.
Swish, swish, swish, countless sounds darted through the dense forest, silent yet fast as leopards, disappearing in the woods in the blink of an eye.
Shadow didn't join the chase but coldly watched the sniper ahead. Despite three focused shots, the sniper lay motionless on the ground, as if giving up resistance. Yet this very action saved him; Shadow's shot allowed for lead ti, aning regardless of whether the sniper moved left, right, or lunged forward, he'd collide with the barrel. Remaining still, the bullets whizzed past due to the lead ti, missing him entirely.
"You're quite sothing, co on, I'll give you a fair duel. Let's settle this," Shadow said coldly, acknowledging the sniper's courage and judgnt. In the current situation, just pulling the trigger again could kill him, but Shadow didn't want to do so.
The sniper, back to Shadow, knew full well if Shadow fired, death was certain. Braced for sacrifice, he was montarily stunned by the words. He raised his hands above his shoulders, slowly stood up, and slowly turned around, glaring at Shadow, cold light flickering in his fierce eyes. In a harsh tone, he questioned, "Should I thank you?"
"Less talk, slowly drop your weapon, let's fight with knives," Shadow said coldly.
Just five or six ters apart, the sniper knew he had no chance to shoot. He threw his weapon down, slowly drew and discarded his handgun, removed two grenades attached to him, and threw them aside. Holding the military knife in reverse grip, he positioned his feet for attack, coldly declaring, "You'll regret your choice, but rest assured, I'll make it quick, slicing your throat in no ti. Co on."
Shadow snorted disdainfully, tossed away his gun, loosened his neck, raised his hands in attack posture, coolly saying, "Hope your combat skills match your shooting skills, co on."
The opponent saw Shadow not drawing his knife and roared in anger, pushing off with his feet, pouncing on Shadow like a furious leopard, swift and agile. Shadow stared coldly, not moving an inch. As the opponent's sharp knife ca for his neck, he remained still, eyes locked on his opponent.
The sniper, seeing Shadow's arrogance, aid for a kill, disregarding any backup plan, accelerating his attack with a cruel, cold smile in his eyes. This was the mont Shadow waited for. Skilled attackers always hold back so effort; Shadow risked everything to bait the opponent into a full-out attack, rendering him defenseless.
The cruel smile revealed his decision; with Shadow unmoving, head slightly tilted back, it seed like exposing his neck to the opponent. But suddenly, he recoiled a bit, the cold, sharp knife just missing his throat by three inches, the deadly move falling short.
The sniper realized he was tricked, but his moves were spent, force drained, new strength not yet generated. His speed and response lagged slightly, a negligible late beat, but a fatal chance for experts. Shadow kicked hard at his opponent's groin.
"Ahhh—ohh," the sniper cried out in agony from the heavy blow to his groin, collapsing, clutching himself tightly, eyes vacant at Shadow. He appeared like a deflated balloon, lifeless. Shadow's full-force impact was terrifying, a single kick shattering the man's cornerstone.
No man can stand after his groin is kicked, especially with direct crushing. The sniper, breath shallow, couldn't recover quickly. Hearing distant gunfire, Shadow knew he couldn't delay. He stepped forward, stamping hard on the sniper's chest.
"Crack," several ribs fractured from Shadow's pressure, another scream resounded, blood gushing from his lips as he fainted. Shadow picked up the fallen handgun and delivered a shot to the sniper's forehead, ending his agony.
Eliminating the sniper, Shadow swiftly retrieved his weapon and raced forward, shouting, "Mountain Eagle, send soone to collect this bastard's gear—it's a sniper's, you can use it. Everyone else, hold your positions."
"Understood," Mountain Eagle's voice ca through the earpiece.
Hearing intensified gunfire ahead, with a significant number of enemies, Shadow was startled and dashed after the chaos, charging roughly two hundred ters forward. There, Luo Zheng and his team were concealing themselves among the trees, counterattacking, while the enemy seed to form a three-pronged encirclent with dozens of n. Shadow was alard, sensing a conspiracy.
"Bang bang bang!" Shadow rapidly fired three shots at the nearby enemy, scanning the battlefield. He noticed a weak point where the enemy was trying to breach. Everyone was pinned by enemy fire, stunned by its intensity, as he dashed like lightning to the spot. Hiding behind a large tree, he swiftly opened fire to block the advancing enemies, demanding in a low voice, "Can soone tell what's going on?"
"We fell into an ambush, no fewer than thirty enemies, likely three units of helt troops— it's a plot," Drunkard shouted furiously. Gunfire and explosions intertwined, filling the woods, needing loud shouts to even hear amidst the chaos.
